Our host, Sherman, welcomed us with a big smile and was most helpful. His big grin was punctuated with Beegees sing-along. Rooms were clean and small and towards the back (so not as noisy as street side).  Breakfast was Plato típico (rice beans toast juice and coffee) in a pretty courtyard. 
Everything you’ll want to see and experience is right out the front door. Good value for price!

La Calzada Gem

Located in the best tourist street in Granada it lacks the things that would let me recommend this very small hotel; it only has 4 rooms although the claim to have as many as 8. The rooms are extremely small in this pretty building. The breakfast is fine when you get it; they sometimes take so long in preparing it (1 hour) that you give up and go eat at one of the many places outside in the street. They shut off the water service during the day at different times. It's a shame that they do not improve the service and facilities a bit and have the place full most of the time.

WHAT A SHAME. Wonderful location, poor service and facilities

My teen age granddaughter and I arrived here with a confirmed booking  reservation  to be told our room was not available...."check back tomorrow morning". Fortunately we located a similar room down the street.  Hotel  room rates quoted  are  higher than those on line. Unfortunate and unpleasant experience with hotel 
personnel: Many nice, clean hotels in Granada: Recommend another choice.

Disappointed, unhappy  and frustrated with  poor reservation and customer  service

I traveled here with a friend (two women in our early thirties) and stayed for two nights. There are some positive things -- great location on La Calzada, beautiful hotel and common areas, very pretty upstairs outdoor patio with great view of the Cathedral, and tasty breakfast of gallo pinto and scrambled eggs. Manuel helped us arrange an amazing tour of nearby sites (our tour guide was Marlon Rojas, who was exceptional!). However, there was some serious disorganziation -- they seemed not to have our reservation (but they were pleased they still had a room they could rent us), they gave us wrong directions on a simple map of the area, and we got sort of a sketchy vibe from Sherman, who seemed irritated that we were asking him basic tourist questions.  WIFI worked in the common areas, but not in the rooms (even though they insisted that it did). The rooms were fine and basic, we were happy to have air conditioning.

Some very positive things, but wouldn't stay again

I travelled here with my mom and we stayed 4 nights. 
This hotel could be an absolute gem if the owners and staff had any clue how to manage it. Old, charming and simple does not need to mean dilapidated and filthy. 

While the main area and room itself were fairly clean, our beds and pillows were not. The pillows were hard and lumpy (as they get when they are full of old dirt and sweat) and the mattresses were filthy and falling apart. 
The outlet behind one of the beds had Kleenex keeping it in place, leaving us with only one functional outlet. 
The swarms of mosquitoes that are supposedly harmless left me with bites so bad I now have welts and scars. 
The noise from floor repairs began around 6:30am and they days that did not occur, we were still awoken at 6:30am to pots clanging in the kitchen immediately opposite our room and staff screaming at each other. 
I understand the building is old and that the walls are thin, but this did not need to occur. 
Breakfast was eggs (fried, scrambled or omelette) with gallo pinto and orange flavoured Tang.  Breakfast and coffee were decent especially considering they are included in the room price. 
Wifi only reaches the main area, and is slow and sometimes unreliable. 

It's such a fabulous location that if small changes were to occur over time, this could be one of the best hotels on La Calzada.
