A most artistic and imaginative couple created the landscape architecture and built this island resort. The environment appears to be totally natural and green. They take great pride in being superb hosts. They taught the cook to create unique and tasty meals. The kitchen cooked fresh fish straight out of the lake for very tasty lunch. The boatman was most helpful and vigilant. They created a beautiful moonlight dinner to celebrate my wife's birthday. We are very happy with the experience.

Zopango provides a unique and memorable island experience.

Was a relaxing and very enjoyable stay for 2 nights ( wish I booked 4!).  A place to unwind, chill, get pampered with good home cooked meals and enjoy the water with a swim or a kayak admiring the locals fishing and their family villages lakeside.

Owners and staff were very lovely and welcoming.

True remote island paradise

My family and I spent a truly lovely and magical on Zopango Island.  It was one of our highlights of our trip to Nicaragua.  We only wished we had stayed longer and hope to return to Zopango Island for a longer stay next time.  Truly a magical and relaxing place!

Magical and very special Island!

My wife and I stayed here for two nights Jan 2 and 3.  The owners who are from France spent 8 years designing and building one of the most beautiful gardens we have seen.  I thought is was a bit expensive when I first reserved but when you see all the creativity, love and investment they put into this place it was definitely worth it and a high point of our trip.  I would recommend three nights and the boat tour through the islands.  Great fresh water swimming, completely relaxing.  A memorable experience.  The Nicaraguan couple that staff the place were very nice and made great food and cocktails.  I saw one review that mentioned the small monkey that made me a bit nervous.  It turns out they only let him out for supervised play and he interesting and cute.  So we had no issues there.  Again I am a big fan of beautiful gardens and this was one of the nicest gardens I have been in - takes up the entire island.

Beautiful landscape garden design on a beautiful island - worth the splurge

We had a really nice half-day tour on the island. We went as part of a day kayaking with their company, Nicaragua Dulce. The island is cool and we would love to stay there if we ever return to Nicaragua. It's a tiny private island in the bay which is well manicured and peaceful. 

We were picked up by car in Granada and then brought by motorized boat to the island. Once we arrived we were welcomed with fresh juice and a snack of green mango with salt (tasted like a refreshing salad). Then we went out for a while in the comfortable kayaks. We chose a two-person kayak so we could see things together but they have single-person kayaks if you prefer. And they have plenty so I think the could accommodate a family group quite well. We enjoyed the serenity of the bay with a beautiful view of Mombacho in the distance. We saw a number of bird; we were lucky that our guide that day was actually the owner who shared his love of nature by showing us birds and flora. We especially loved the "Rain Tree."

It was a fairly windy day (the lake would have been miserable to try and kayak) but the water in the bay was calm enough for pretty easy kayaking. We navigated all over and saw very few other people out and about. 

After our kayak we were given time to swim in the bay. This was lovely--the water was not too cold, just cold enough to be refreshing. The owners have taken the time/effort to make a sandy bottom around the perimeter so you don't just sink into the mud when you walk in. There are even nice concrete stairs leading down. 

We felt relaxed on the island. The landscaping is lovely--with walkways through the nice plants. We even got to taste the (tart!) fruit straight off one tree. We met Cashew and heard his rescue story. He was enclosed for the day to keep him safe while they did some maintenance around the property though I understand he usually roams free. 

We didn't see inside the guest house but the people who staff the island were lovely, the relaxing spaces around (and hammocks) were inviting, and the communal areas were nice --so we would certainly enjoy a stay there if we return. 

Relaxing half-day day trip for kayaking and swimming

We were excited to visit Zopango Island after reading so many good reviews. However, when we arrived on the island we weren’t sure where to go. We started walking up the stairway of the only building on the island, behind a man who was heading up as well. He turned around and said ( very rudely) “This is my private home”. We apologized profusely but he sneered at us and did not accept our apology. When he came back down, he pointed us out to some other guests and they laughed. He kept making faces towards us.
Since he told us it was his private home, we assume he is the owner. We felt awkward and humiliated during our time on the island and tried to be invisible while we waited for the boat back. The island itself was beautiful; I wish we had been able to enjoy it.

Never felt so unwelcome

This was the last leg and stop of our week in Nicaragua. We had a nice day trip out to the island, and we were the only couple.  We had a great kayak tour with Mauro, the owner, and saw cormorants, egrets, kingfishers, and much more.  After, we rested, meditated, read, and slept.  It was a great day out on Lake Nicaragua with Mombacho Volcano in the background.

Peace after Touring Nicaragua

We had a very good time with our children on this beautiful tropical landscape! We felt very welcome by our guests, and it was very pleasant to spend a long time with them, since their knowledge of the country was inexhaustible. The place is charming, a very beautiful garden, made up of a multitude of tropical trees and plants, home to many animals (birds, monkeys, frogs...). A real enchantment for children. Several activities are available, such as canoeing or fishing, and it is also possible to swim in the lake (if the season allows).

A unique, peaceful and natural place to recharge

Stunning island with amazing views and wonderful kayaking through the islands. Wonderful hosts and amazing food. The owners support the local community who are all incredibly friendly. The rooms are modern and clean. The owners have a huge variety of plants growing on the island. We really enjoyed our stay.

Beautiful!

In a particularly healthier environment and with the warm welcome of Roselyne and Mauro who are in love with their island and know how to share their passion The staff is only smiling and the cook gives you the feeling of being at home. And in the evening you can continue to look up at the sky, contemplate the landscape,pointed by a few fishing boats. And at night you find comfortable rooms,the decor is healthier.
