I stopped in here today for a couple of drinks and some lunch. As it happened, I only stayed for one drink then went elsewhere. 

Despite the place being very quiet and 3 waiting staff, no one came over to my table,  so after 10 minutes I went inside and politely asked for a drink. The women on their shift looked put out that I had interrupted them standing around chatting with each other. Finally a bottle of beer arrived. I was very hungry but no menu was offered to me and I thought maybe they weren't serving food at the time, until a group came in and were given food menus and ordered meals. By this time I'd decided that as the only place in Ometepe I had been that gave such poor service I was going to put my wallet back in my pocket and go up the street. 

I can always understand when a restaurant is busy it's hard to be served but what I can't understand is when one is quiet and the staff just can't be bothered. 

It's a shame because I could easily have spent 20 dollars here including a generous tip, but I ended spending only 2. 

Maybe they were just having an off day. 

So in conclusion, I can't review the food but, just to end on a positive note, the bottle of beer was cold

This is our 3rd time visiting Ometepe Island and our 3rd time staying at Hotel Villa Paraíso. They always exceed our expectations, offering an overall great experience, reason why we always come back here. Staff, rooms, food, amenities and property are consistently very good. We highly recommend this hotel.

Great Little Paradise!

Hotel may be nice but food certainly isn’t!  No effort made on any level in the kitchen on any dish.  Garlic bread starter was a few slices of processed Bimbo bread smeared with something very dubious.  Didn’t get any better. First time I’ve failed to finish my desert. After 7 weeks in Nicaragua we were hardly expecting haute cuisine but this was particularly grim. Not cheap either!

Don’t be tempted to eat here!

Large room with a comfortable bed, although there was nowhere to hang up clothes (just some shelving) so we pretty much lived out of our suitcases. Our room was quite far away from reception, so WiFi was very poor, but on the plus side it was very quiet. Hammock hanging in the seating area outside our room was very comfortable! 

There are various peaceful seating areas by the pool and overlooking the lake (there was very little beach when we were there because the water level in the lake was very high). 

The (outside) restaurant is good, with a varied menu, and portions are generous. When we were there, the reception area, including the bar, were closed up as soon as the restaurant had finished serving, so best to get your drink orders in early. 

Staff were helpful and friendly. 

Comfortable hotel in a peaceful lakeside location.

The room was very clean and beautiful as shown in the photo, it is a place to spend a quiet relaxed time, the restaurant is very good too, and I recommend the pasta with seafood ☺️

Perfect place to stay and visit Ometepe. Good care, excellent location, good beds, good size bathroom with good tub.

Pleasant and well located

We stopped off here for lunch on our tour of the island. It s a really nice open air setting looking out into the lake and the wildlife is everywhere. One of our group spotted some white faced monkeys in a tree right across the road. The food was very good and reasonably priced.

Lovely open air restaurant

This is probably the best hotel you will find on Ometepe but it wasn't great.  The rooms were old & the grounds overgrown.  They seemed to have plenty of staff so I don't understand why the grounds were not taken care of properly.  We stayed in Cabina #1 & we did have hot water, a refrig & a partial view of the lake.  We got swarmed by some kind of bugs & were not able to sit outside or have dinner outside the first night.  We live in Costa Rica & are used to bugs but these were swarming.  The staff was pleasant but did not go out of their way to make us feel welcomed.
We ate dinner both nights in the restaurant  & the food was good.  It is probably the only place on the island that you can get a glass of wine but it was expensive.
Our room was $75 which was way too expensive for what we received.  I hope the owners will take heed & make Casa Paraiso a much better hotel for those of us that desire something more than a hostal.

Not great but not terrible

It's a paradise place by the lake, especially for a family or couple vacation. The food is very good and the breakfast is a real treat. The cleanliness of its rooms and always white towels stand out in this place. Don Luis the manager of the place is very helpful and always attentive to help with anything that is requested. Definitely it's a place to always want to return.

The best place in Santo Domingo

Hotel Villa Paraiso is a beautiful hotel right on the beach at Playa Santo Domingo. Their rooms are comfortable and well appointed and they are spaced out nicely throughout the garden area overlooking the beach. Each cabana has its own private balcony area. The wifi isn’t the strongest, but it’s adequate. The closest ATM is in Altagracia, so be sure to bring enough cash with you for your stay.
One of the highlights of our stay here was their breakfasts. You have a choice of a few different breakfast dishes and the restaurant area flows over a few different sections, all with great views out to the beach. Be ware of the local blue jay birds that are very cute but also aggressively go after your food.
The hotel has a pool as well as cabanas right on the beach.
