Don't bother staying here. I repeat, do not bother staying in this hotel. I arrived at 1pm with my family, filthy room to start with. Dead cockroach inside the room. Called the reception to alert them of the significant mould, cockroach and dust in the room with lack of towels...only 1 towel provided for 4 people. We asked for sugar for tea by 2pm, none provided till we checked out. The room was still not cleaned...we were totally ignored. They charged us for "buffet breakfast", we came downstairs to meet no buffet. We ordered our breakfast and after an hour, it was still not ready. The duty manager kept saying, breakfast will be ready in 5 minutes....it never came. Our airport taxi waited with us and in the end, we had to leave without eating. All this experience for N75,000 a night. Do not stay here, there can't be any hotel worse than this.

Room service is below the sewage system, I asked for fried fish with fresh vegetables, and I received fish with some cabbage and mayonnaise ((((
If you have any other option to stay in Abuja, go there. Don't consider immaculate!


No internet in the entire hotel

Hotel is clean, the staff are helpful ready to render assistance.  Room was always clean , through out my trip didnt have issues.  Only problems my card key had swipe issues which was corrected. Then they had a Friday night event which was kind of loud and distracting I think for others who are not interested.

Nice stay

Comfortable bed but basic, if not very ordinary service. With the duvet on everything was good.  But I removed the duvet and the white bedsheet was actually stained.  You have noise all over the place - I stayed in room 115.  The bath tub was installed in a manner allowing water to drip to the toilet floor.  So there was really nothing anyone could do to rectify that. so I didn't bother to complain.  Then worse, I return to my room when the cleaner was at work. On his out he suddenly turns and requests for transport fare from me.  Reflexively I tell him that 'it's not done.  You can't harrass your guest with this kind of behavior.'  Of course he apologizes but gratefully accepts the change  I gave him after my complaint.  The swimming pool is tiny so I didn't bother going to swim.  The breakfast was at best basic - little choice to make actually.  Hotel was neat however, which, to me, is a rudimentary requirement.  
This hotel has the potential to be fantastic with more attention paid to the details.  And I think it needs some culture makeover.  So very traditional with too much leaning towards one major tribe of Nigeria.

Lots of potential but still far off the mark

The hotel is in a good location - not far from the city centre and in a street where there are a few decent restaurants and a club.

The building itself is impressive and seems to have been fundamentally well designed but unfortunately they then economised on the fittings; this affects the impression even in the lobby where the doors to the bar and restaurant do not operate smoothly.

The same applies in the bedrooms, which are of a good size and could be so much better had it not been for the economy fittings.  Another example of a lack of attention to important details relates to the adjoining doors that seem to exist between many of the rooms;  they are only one door thick - and so are not soundproof.  Fitting double doors would have overcome this issue.

The best thing about the rooms is the excellent (by African standards) WiFi speed and accessibility. 

The worst thing about the rooms is the use of very strong smelling odour fighting tablets that smell of mothballs.  It sounds like a small issue but the smell really is intense even after throwing the 'moth balls' out!

For a business hotel this one suffers from not having adequate spaces to meet people; the bar area is not attractive.

Breakfasts are adequate without being very exciting (not enough fresh fruit being the main complaint).  

Service outside of the restaurant was 'patchy'; waiting staff do their best but are not well organised and mainstream items run out (like coffee in the bar).  When things go wrong there is no obvious duty manager on hand to smooth things over.  The reception is elevated above the lobby so that you are looked down on by the not very friendly receptionists (which is fundamentally not a good idea).  The security people, of whom there are many, are, by contrast, exceptionally friendly and helpful.

There is also an annexe to the hotel where we also stayed.  The rooms are similar to those in the main hotel.  But at this annexe there is nowhere to meet visitors and the breakfast is very poor.   However, the receptionist and night porter there deserve a mention for their kind attention to our needs.      

As my heading states; this hotel could be so much better with a bit of extra investment and staff training.

With a bit of effort this could be a nice place to stay

I was in Nigeria for 2 weeks in Mar 2014. I took a room with the adjacent room occupied by my colleague. The separation of the room by a mere door allowed sound to travel between us unhindered. If I turn on the volume of the tv or music a little louder, he could hear them and vice versa. The room in the safe was not working from day 1 and I kept calling room service to have it fixed but after getting a promise by the maintenance guy that he would come back in 15 mins to have it changed, he din turn up. I went to the reception to register the problem over and over again and each time they promised "I would personally look into it" but never happen. Hopeless service.
