Stayed 1 night in June. Whether this is the off-season or not I don't know but this place was like a ghost town. It almost looked as if they were in the middle of re-modelling and should really have been closed but decided to take our internet booking anyway. The complex looks like an old ski lodge that had seen it's best times in the 70's or 80's.

When we arrived, there was nobody there to greet us, just a note on reception door saying our room numbers. These numbers were completely different from the numbers that were shown on the outside of the buildings. We eventually found our rooms thanks to what I believe was someone that rented a room there permanently.

My room was small to say the least, the TV had about 3 channels available and there really wasn't much in the room apart from a chair, a bed and a lamp that didn't work. The bathroom was pathetic. The shower - the worst I've ever come across. Why would you have 6 jets of water spraying out at your midriff when the two sliding doors that meet in the middle behind you don't even close properly?!

The other members of my group had the 'Bridal Suite'. Now I use this term loosely as if I was on my honeymoon and got put in this room I think it would be a very bad omen for the marriage. Window pane broken - easily fixed by sellotaping a piece of polystyrene over it. Sorted. Electrical socket and wires not just loose but completely out of the wall. Not that a DVD player was needed but the description did say rooms came with one. Perhaps they were the ones stacked up in a pile out on the corner of the stairs in the passage.

That day we'd driven a long distance and just wanted some food and to get some rest. Signs out on the road, never mind the website and booking information said there was a restaurant on site. Well technically this is true, but it was closed for the season when we stayed, so we ended up having to drive across the mountain to Skien for something to eat.

Miraculously, breakfast was served in the morning and it actually wasn't bad.

All in all, I've stayed in better youth hostels and for a fraction of the cost of this spot. It's a real shame because it's such a lovely location with the lake/pond out front. Unfortunately I left feeling like I'd been robbed.

Decent breakfast saved this from 1 star rating

Arrived here after a long day driving. No one about, note on door for rooms but numbers did not match numbers on doors. Eventually a man helped us find the rooms which were in need of an update to say the least. Our room had a piece of polystyrene over a broken window and electric sockets were hanging off the wall. We had thought we could get a meal in the restaurant but it was not open so had to get back in the car and go to Skien. Breakfast was OK but no apology for no show previous afternoon. All in all not a good experience.

Very unsatisfactory

Stayed at Vindfjelltunet Gjestegaard one night. The reason I chose this place, was the short distance to a nice hunting area only 10 min away. 
The room was really small, and didn't have much else to offer than a 75 cm bed and a chair. The bathroom was freezing cold and the shower looked good but was pretty bad. In addition, I didn't have internet connection, and it was no open access Wi-Fi nearby. With a few minor improvements, I would have given this place a better rating. Like Wi-Fi (we are living in 2015), warm floor at the bathroom, a shower head that doesn't fall off, and all in all some better/warmer atmosphere.
