Last weekend 30 children and grown ups (coaches) from the Mountain bike section at the Oslo club IL Heming stayed at Hove Leirsenter. The place is ideal for active children and youths and after the daily bikeride the children played outside for hours. Some went swimming in the sea and the played a lot at the parkour-area.

Our house was newly renovated and the place gives you great value for money. The food served for the catering firm associated with Hove Leirsenter was rather simple, but good and cheap.

Great place!!

We spent two whole days at Hove together with 30+ relatives of all ages. The houses where big, but quite simple, exactly how we wanted it. The playground was fantastic, especially with the parkor facilities which my two sons of 4 and 6 simply loved! We loved it! 

This centre lies 264km south-west of Oslo on the E18 road, near Arendal - takes about 3 hr. 20 min. by car. It is on the island of Tromøy, connected by bridge to the mainland. Tromøy is about 12km long and 4km wide. The extensive facilities include cabin accomodation for sporting teams, scouts or similar associations, and camping areas for several thousand people. There is a wide range of sporting facilities and a variety of marine and dry land activities. 
You can also go there to simply walk - there are good paths, where wild flowers can occasionally can be spotted, through forestry for many kms., either looking towards the mainland, where typical Norwegian houses are dotted along the coastline amongst the forest, or out to sea, the Skagerrak. At the south-west tip of the island 2 lighthouses can be seen in the distance, and wild flowers can occasionally can be spotted. 
We had an excellent time with our Norwegian friends.

Went there as guiding parent for a marching band at camp. Accomodation was basic, and rooms a worn down, but that was quite as expected. Great area for a group of children/youths with fields for sports, large lawns etc. Close to the beach. We hired activities like coasteering, sailing and "Viking games", they turned out great! 

Hired the "Gildestua" to use for band rehearsals. However the place could not be used for this puropse because of the construction of the rooms. Luckily the Catering business at the premises came to our rescue and let us use a room they had. Very grateful to them for this, otherwise this would have spoilt the trip.

The location is absolutely fantastic. Hiking paths, beaches, calm and relaxing and a short way to Arendal or other destinations. We rented a 10 bed cabin. We had a great time, but the cabin was in need of some basic care. Both showers was broken. Water came out, but one head was broken and the other tape with duct tape so rinsing your hair for shampoo was time consuming. The cabin was only 100 meters from the sea :-)
