We stayed at this hotel at the end of May. It was clean and cozy, had WiFi and T.V. The breakfast was excellent--every good Norwegian food you would want to eat for breakfast was there served in an inviting dining room. They serve good coffee and baked items in the front reception room . The Manager is a kind person and the person making the scrumptious breakfast.

This is a clean, value-for-money motel with friendly service.  Hotel signboard isn't lit up at night, so it made it difficult for us driving around to locate it!  Room has thin walls, but otherwise is very clean and has a firm, hard bed with good amenities (kettle, complimentary beverage, mini-bar etc) except hairdryer.  The breakfast spread is good, with a wide choice of meatcuts and jams.  I received a complimentary tube of handcream upon checking-out, which is a nice surprise.  Overall I would stay here again should I travel around the region.

When traveling Norway, we made the experience that hotel prices in the South are even higher than elsewhere in the country. So we decided to look a little bit away from the coast.
The Birkeland Hotell in Birkenes is a nice place, appr. 15min from Lindeness and 30min from Kristiansand. With a price for a double bed room of 1.095 NOK (early June) it is worth traveling the extra Kilometers.
Birkeland / Birkenes is a quiet small town. The hotel is build in a motel-type style, which means you park your car right in front of the rooms. Parking and rooms are on the back side, away from the street. The rooms are of a good size, have modern furniture and come equipped with TV, water cooker, a good fridge and fast free WLAN. Dinner can be had a two places right beside the hotel, of which we recommend the Chinese restaurant on the opposite side of the road.
Birkeland Hotell is highly recommended when you travel southern Norway by car.

Nice budget hotel in the Kristiansand / Lillesand Area

A special touch was the basket of yarn--inviting guests to knit a square to later be added to make a quilt to be auction

Simple 'motel' with a great breakfast

The breakfast was exellent, good service, the hotel and the room was clean.
Looks more like motel than a hotel. We did not have a internet connection in our room and I am glad I took earplugs with me because there is noise from outside. The price for two nights, in familyroom with two extra beds, is 3.200.- nok which is about 520 dollars.
