The location of this hotel, lakeside with a glacier in view, is second to none. The rooms are clean and comfortable - functional rather than luxurious but don’t let that put you off. The breakfasts are generous and tasty:  the cost includes making packed lunch- essential as the hotel is remote from alternative eating options.

Evening meals are well-prepared, sometimes with a choice of main meal from memory but consistently delicious and filling.

Very special mountain lodge with just jawdropping views.  We rode the Rallarvegen for two days and stayed here between rides.  Dinner was amazing, breakfast was amazing, and we were encouraged to pack up a lunch from the extensive breakfast buffet.  Deck seating and drinks were perfect.  Rooms very nice, not frilly but large and comfortable.  We were so happy every second!

We had a fantastic 24h at Finse! The area offers great biking and walking + hiking paths. The hotel is beautiful - cosy, with friendly staff and tasty food. The breakfast was very good as well, with an option to make own sandwiches for lunch - what we very much appreciated! We regretted that we haven’t decided to stay longer.

It was great to return to this special hotel - the first time I have visited without snow, but equally beautiful!

The food was exceptional as were all the staff - all were really polite, friendly and really helpful. A big ‘Thankyou’ to all, but especially S(h)usma  and ‘Viking’. Looking forward to a longer stay in the coming winter!

We stayed here for two night's, which allowed us to truly enjoy the surrounding beauty and the peacefulness of this area. 
I was traveling with my adult daughter, who happens to be Vegan. I had made this known to the staff when booking our stay and we were thrilled by both the dinner and breakfast options they created for her, given their remote location. It was a perfect respite from our otherwise full schedule of traveling and I very much hope to return again for more hiking and relaxation!

Great stay with hospitality and service above expectations!
Due to extreme weather conditions the hiking options were limited but we got good advice and guidance and managed to explore the outdoors in a safe way. 
The train back home were cancelled but the personal provided options for alternative route back home. Very helpful to all guests!

Britt Sissel & team did a great job. Best managed hotel on our Norway trip. High quality food both at breakfast and at dinner. Space to relax for hotel guests. Nice and contemporary interior preserving some of the place’s heritage. While the place is by nature not prepared for strollers (we knew beforehand) they tried to support as much as possible. Thanks for the great hospitality!

From the moment I booked into The Finse 1222 to the moment I booked out of the Finse, the staff couldn't have been more welcoming.  Where do I start? I arrived on the train from Bergen, just after 3pm on Saturday 13th May, The lady on reception, sorry I can't remember your name, was very helpful and assisted me with my luggage to my room. I had booked a basic room, wishing, when I realised I'd be missing out on the fantastic view, that I had upgraded to a room with a full view, instead of a small chink of the lake and beyond.  After unpacking for my 2 night stay I went for a walk around the hotel, and saw the view I was missing. But the hotel has lounges to sit in and a veranda to watch the clouds drift by, so I didn't really miss out on enjoying the scenery. 
The bed was super comfy with great soft pillows. The shower was perfect too, with plenty of towels. There was a large chest to put my suitcase on and plenty of coat hangers too. 
I could control the heating from my room, so chose to turn it down as it was a rather warm room.
The meals were very good, I picked the 2 course option. The first night starter and main, second main and desert. When I booked in, I was asked if I had any allergies, and when my food order was taken I was again asked about food allergies, super careful. The breakfast choice was vast, including bacon and eggs, plus a good range of cold meat, cheeses, fruit (fresh and dried), nuts, seeds, cereals, a range of non dairy milk, selection of bread and more!  We could help ourselves to our packed lunch, bags and parchment paper in plentiful supply.
Also the icing on the cake, good real coffee available in the reception area all day and evening, included in the booking fee.
I should also mention the very helpful lady on reception on the 14th May who assisted me when I hired snow shoes to go out walking across the lake.
Would I come back here again, YES!

My first stay at Hotel Finse1222, and I hope one stay of many more!

The hotel and surrounding area is stunning, made only better by the excellent welcome and hospitality from Anne-Kari and her team.

Our top floor bedroom with views of the frozen lake and mountains is something I will always remember - and will be very hard to beat.

The food was incredible, especially given the challenging access to Finse. Every meal was tasty, creative and in plentiful supply. 

Thanks again to Anne-Kari and the exceptional team. We look forward to returning.

We had a wonderful stay at the 1222.  I was there with my Star Wars group and we got some epic pictures.  The rooms are very nice and clean and the beds are comfortable.   The meals are amazing!!! The Chef is 5 Star!!! The staff is beyond nice and helpful.   I am looking forward to my next stay at the 1222.  We also got beautiful pictures of the Northern Lights during our stay!

Large expensive hotel with an interesting history in a stunning location on the Hardangervidda. Only accessible by train and located below the glacier in a stunning location. The area is much used by ski tourers  and adventure enthusiasts in winter and walkers and fishermen/ wonen and travellers staying in mountains in summer. Also the hotel has strong links with polar exploration and Star Wars! Good for views and coffee and think it’s restarted ski hire!
