Furulund Pensjonat

Magic Norway. We have stayed in only lovely and exciting places on this trip from glamping on a beach, a refuge in the mountains via a vintage hotel, a cosy b&b to this… Our favourite without a close second. A post war “pensjonat” where your initial thought is that time just forgot about it until you realise love found it. I’m old enough to remember these places being the norm and as such not being impressed but to see my childhood through the lens of maturity I instantly fell in love with both Furulund and my childhood. This is the most peaceful place I’ve ever stayed with the best and unobtrusive service, while the food is simple and exquisite as the place itself. Play a game you forgot existed in the “stue” with the fire in the background while enjoying a cold or hot drink while your dinner is lovingly prepared in the kitchen from local ingredients. Eat it in the charming “spisestue” and be surprised by the flavours of a meal you thought was going to be plain and simple. I don’t want to recommend this place simply because I want to keep it to myself.
