Froland Hostel 

The hostel is at Eikely in a little community that has a children's nursery and woodland. It is easy to find and located close to Froland Verk. There is a beach and diving platform at Lake Trevann just down the road and in the summer season, the hostel gives free use of boats there. Also very close to the lovely town of Arendal and Tromoy (island/peninsula). On arrival we were met by a lovely helpful lady called Sonja who took our payment, and showed us our room and the facilities. The room was very clean with lovely comfortable beds, the beds were made for us, and towels provided. The room had a washbasin and fridge and overlooked the woodland area. The toilet facilities were good and clean and the showers clean and spacious, with hooks for clothes, somewhere to sit and a wash basin. The kitchen and dining area were good but unfortunately during our stay, some other guests left their dirty pots in the kitchen sink and on the cooker and didn't clean up generally which meant we had to clean up after them before starting to cook etc. The kitchen has a dishwasher, so no excuse. The hostel needs to put up some notices for those without common sense or courtesy! Breakfast is included in the price but out of season it is left in the kitchen fridge (in summer season it is served in the restaurant which looked nice). There was a lot of food provided, different meats, fish, cheeses, pates, eggs (hard boiled and to cook), jams, bread, butter, milk, fruit juices, coffee (no tea). There is a cooker and hob, microwave oven, kettle, coffee machine, egg boiler and dishwasher. A nice little dining room is next to the kitchen and has a television. Free parking. Lovely staff and a lovely little place.
