We were a group of 2 families and wanted to stay next to each other, so 2 adjacent cottages were just perfect to our needs. The surroundings are very peaceful and quiet, and we didn't really notice the presence of other cottage users nearby.

The cottages are basic but entirely self contained and in very good condition. The provision of basic amenities such as hand soap and washing detergent would make it even more pleasant (yes, I know that, according to Jacob, some people complained about the detergent bleaching their clothes and hat it why it was discontinued, but it would have spared us a trip to nearby Skei anyway).

There is a choice of 4 walks that are well explained on the website, with printed maps posted at the Summer Cafe on the premises. We did the easiest trek, which took us almost 3 hours and was enjoyed by the kids and adults alike.

Jacob the host was extremely pleasant and obliging and didn't mind our delayed arrival as late as 10pm.

Quiet getaway in magnificent scenery

The cabins are spacious and easily warmed through the heating system, you can also use the fireplace. In the neigborhood you have some nice hikes. we went on the Haugabreen glacier , which was truly breathtaking. We did not see any owner or park-keeper. If you are looking for busy environments , than better not go. If you like quiet place, this definitely worthwhile !

Spacious cabins in small park

These cabins are fairly new and off the beaten track, with no non European tourists. The kitchen and bathroom have the usual appliances with a undercounter refrigerator, tea and coffee apparatus, toaster, stove. There was a washing machine in the bathroom with a drying rack. Bring your own linens, there are comforters and pillows in two bedrooms, one with bunkbeds. There is a potbelly stove for heat, bring small wood.
There was a cafe for check in and out that had  delicious pastries daily.

Nice place for a week for 2-4 people

Over a series of emails going back and forward between myself and Jacob, the owner, about the type of cabin we would like, we eventually booked our cabin directly with him, and this he confirmed back to us, suggesting we telephone when on the main road near skei for directions, I then asked for his mobile number, which he gave me, and when we arrived in skei we telephoned as requested and his response was, 'I wasn't expecting anyone, wait where you are and I will call you back, I cannot help now as I am at work, I will call my wife' so there we sat, this after a four hour drive, awaiting his call back, the temperature was 5 degrees.  Eventually he called back and said that he had a lovely warm cabin and that we could call at his home pick up the keys and get directions from his wife.  This we did and were given directions to the cabin, which was freezing, no sign of heat, no sign of logs or anything, in fact no help at all, the cabins very dated and in need of some tender loving care.  We had booked a newer cabin, but the wife said we couldn't have it. There was no one else in any of the cabins! Cold desolate place, maybe ok in the summer!  So we took the keys back and said no thank you. Five hours on the road now and nowhere to go.  No phone call of apology for the misunderstanding, nothing.  I emailed Jacob forwarding all of our emails hoping for a response, but the response was to pretend it hadn't happened and not respond.  Hence I am writing this to warn you, it could be you next time. We drove on for another hour eventually finding a hotel in Loen for the night, not that we wanted a hotel as we had just stocked up with food! That was a waste as well. 

Don't do it!

A very peaceful and private site in the middle of nowhere. Sign in at reception (roadside cafe 1/2 mile before the site) then drive further up minor road before turning off to semi wooded site. cabin was well equipped and clean, only two of us staying but room for 4. Even a washing machine if you are staying longer. Log fire. Peaceful and nice to relax on the patio. Not overlooked by anyone, although there are a number of other cabins on site.
Info folder in cabin suggests there are some walks nearby but no time to try them.

Quiet, well equipped, wanted to stay longer

A very nice place to stay. Clean and comfort and well equipped. A quiet cabin close to the Jostedalsbreen glacier. the woodfired oven made it warm and cosy. The owner was very friendly and helpful. You can buy groceries in Skei which is 10 minutes drive.
