Mikkelparken Ferietun

Great value, perfect place for family and vacation. We stayed here for two days and we enjoyed the nature and everything they offered us. The nature is beautiful and so is this place.. It si also not overcrovded. 

Amazing camping and park. Beautiful location right in the middle off norwegian mountain and fjords.
Fun for both kids and adults 😁 
Tenting with cute fruit trees and being able to swim and play in a heated pool. Recommanded!

Breathtakingly beautiful. You have the option to camp in your own tents or you can rent a beautiful cabin over looking a fast flowing crystal clear stream.
They have a swimming pool, laundry facilities, a shop, canoeing, and even a restaurant.
Across the road there is a park full of activities, animals and water attractions for kids. 


We stopped here one night without reservations as our road tripping was unexpectedly stopped short due to road closures (we visited in October 2016 when the weather was still unpredictable).  A kind man greeted us at the front desk and we were pretty happy with how easily we were able to get a cabin with no reservation (though realize we were visiting in the off season).  The cabin is pretty spacious and we had a beautiful view from our porch.  This place seems like it would be really great for families in the summer.

Lovely clean facilities, a heated pool, spacious grounds. The kitchen has up to date appliances but more suited to campervans. A freezer but no fridge, a dishwasher but no detergent for handwashing dishes, 2 ovens, 2 sinks, 2 microwaves but no plates or pans at all. Nowhere to sit inside if it’s raining, but a small outside deck that would be lovely if it’s fine weather.

Visited for camping with tent.

After booking online we promptly were assigned a "slot" to raise our tent. Space was adequate (blue area) but quality of soil for pegs where not at it's best. Maybe slits further away from the road are better? 

We also enjoyed the "mikkelbuffet" in the afternoon. Food was average and maybe not very hot. Children's buffet was nice... :-) 

Toilets and showers were nice compared to other camping sites. Clean and inviting. However there are not many of them. There is a nice family room with two toilets, nice shower and diaperchanging area. But yet again.... one of these are not enough in a camping this site. Some queuing up is inevitable.

Staff were friendly and accommodating.

Swimming area was our kid's favourite. We did however feel a little "intrusive" to those in apartments with terraces facing swimming pool. :-) 

All in all a good experience but still a few challenges to leave them short of 5 stars.


Hardangertun Camping is an ideal overnight location in route to the Hardangervidda / or from the plateau. It features grassy spots (sometimes delimited) next to the Hardangerfjord. Unfortunately the view is obstructed by the campsite’s alternative accommodation : chalets… Like most of Norway’s campsite, the place is family friendly. Kids will especially love the swimming pool ! 

The only thing disappointing is the sanitary block : toilets are too scarce and the showers anxiogenic and dark (but have great hot water). The mini-market is kind of disappointing except for their tasty locally baked bread roll. Overall Hardangertun is one of the best option to camp on the western side of the plateau.

Stayed here for 5 nights with our 14 month old son. Cabin was excellent size and had all facilities needed. Our cabin had a gorgeous view out over the fjord which was lovely to watch in the evening. The family who own the site are very nice and nothing seemed too much trouble. Had some over excited neighbours on arrival the first night but can't praise the staff enough for how well and quickly this was dealt with.
Just a shame we were there just before the tourist season opened.

Very good facilities. We stayed for 3 nights in total however one was ruined by roudy children hitting the tent and the campsite not enforcing any rules with loud music at 10pm and 7:30am.

Free showers and use of the pool and sauna when children aren’t leaving shoes and towels in the sauna.

Would benefit from some seats in the kitchen or a tarp over the outdoor seating over the kitchen bench

Camping

Spacious, clean cottages, nice swimming pool for kids. However, no option for breakfast and extremely high fees for bed liniens, towels and baby cribs, in total nok 500/1 night/2 adults and 2 small children. This really took away from us joy of staying at Mikkelparken.
