We travel to our family hytte in Lillesand regularly, and fly in and out of Kjevik. In the past we've stayed at the Dyreparken hotel the first and last nights of our visit, but now that our kids are teens and don't fit in the toddler beds, and we don't enjoy the noise at that hotel, I searched for another option. I was blown away by the Hamresanden Resort. What a beautiful, fun setting! We enjoyed walks on the beach, and even the teens enjoyed playing on the "playground". I reserved a studio but due to overbooking we were upgraded to a two bedroom apartment which was amazing. Everything felt new and clean. We made dinner in the full kitchen and fully enjoyed the amazing rain-type showerhead. The front office woman (Victoria??) was SO nice. I wish we had stayed there longer! But we will definitely be back.

Wow I never knew!

We stayed at Hamresanden purely for transit purposes, and for this aim the apartment was ok. It is obvious that the place is way more suitable in the summer time with a large and inviting veranda and a nice view over the park area. Visiting in a cold April evening, the place was really chilly despite two ovens, with a veranda door that seemed completely stuck from winter. The bunk beds were also very hard and uncomfortable. Had problems finding the check in area and a sign pointing the direction to reception would have been appreciated. 

Good place for transit

We were there during Palmesus in July 2018, but that wasn't an option. 

Anyway.. a very nice and quiet place with the beach right in front of the hotel. The place itself is very charming and typical southern Norway. It is also worth mentioning that the prices are not too bad.  Kristiansand city center is not too far away with car or bus. 

Hamresanden 

This place is overpriced and in very bad condition. You need to pay for breakfast and washing of the room after staying.The airport beside makes a lot of noise early in the morning. I was impressed of the nice pictures and the beach. It was no wifi and the shower was leaking, same about the old toilet, Seems like they just have retaind the old tiles on the floor and adjust with new plates in the bathroom wall. It was far from the city center and not very freindly staff. I will recommend the places down town  did not sleep at all because of the terrible pillows and bad smell from the leaking bathroom.

Stay Away from the appartments!

I stayed in a double room for one night together with my dog (pets allowed). The room was OK, but the ventilation was poor and the air quality was pretty bad during the night. The outdoor area was really nice, plenty of space to walk my dog, including a beach area. One negative was that the local airport was situated right across the water, and when we were outside it could get pretty loud. Didn't notice any noice when we were inside. A simple breakfast was included (sandwiches, cereal, yogurt, boiled eggs), and you could get a gluten free option if you gave notice in advance.

OK for a couple of nights

The airport is just across a narrow strip of water, so noise from planes taking off and landing from 7am-11pm. Other noisy activity at the airport at night.
The summer camping site near the water is a nice location, but the sanitary facilities near the summer campsite are severely lacking. No warm water, no showers, no place to wash dishes. 
Not supposed to drive car into field with summer campsite, but everyone did.

Very poor camping

Positives:
- Nice area to walk around or go for runs
- The self catering apartments are generally comfortable with nice finishings
- Close to airport and relatively close to a big shopping centre (10 min drive)
- Good wifi in the self catering apartments

Negatives:
- The self catering apartments lack some basic things like plugs for the sinks or a spatula, coffee mugs etc. 
- The shower was leaking for the duration of my stay (2 months) and this meant water covered the bathroom floor permanently. 
- I had friends staying on the hotel rooms which were pretty poor, the rooms were seldom serviced and when they approached the hotel staff about it they were told there are too many rooms for them to get to them all! (?!?!) 
- The website advertises a gym/heath centre, there isn't one...
- Very poor wifi in the hotel rooms (might as well not have any it was so bad)
- The staff were generally unwilling to help with internet problems, room servicing problems and general information. 
- The place looks shabby, it hasn't been well maintained.

I stayed there for 2 months, it wasn't unpleasant, but it wasn't great. I want to like it more, its got good potential, just needs some better hospitality and maintenance.
