Good – This hotel is in a great location for wandering about the town, down near the waterfront and well away from the main roads crossing town from east to west. The room was small as expected and there is no luxury here but it was super clean, comfortable and had everything we needed. The bed and the linens were good. There is no breakfast but there is a kitchen in the basement for preparing meals and they also have deals with local cafes. In the afternoons, there is coffee, waffle mix and jam in the kitchen to make your own waffles. It enabled me to use up the last of my Norwegian brown cheese and they were delicious, so that was a tick from me.
Aside from some issues with their payment link, it was a good stay. Recommended.

Great town location but communication not great

We had a six night stay in one of the apartments and it was great!  Hina the manager was super helpful with all our questions and making sure we had what we needed.
Warm, cozy beds, all the essentials.  It had the feel of an Airbnb with the perks of staying at a hotel. Fresh towels when needed, someone to come in and take out the trash, fresh make-your-own afternoon/evening waffles in the main building and helpful staff. 
I would recommend this place and definitely would stay here again.

Great value and Location

We had booked a double room at Sjoglott in Kristianssand, arriving late because of a delayed ferry. When we came, they had given us a (very small) single room and linned for one person! We knew the reception was unmanned but a phonenumber could be used to sent a textmessage after 9 pm. However, no one responded on our wish to have more linned or a proper double room. Since then we have written to the hotel but no reply at all. So they take your money,  give you the wrong room and give your no service at all. Don't go there.

Don't go there - really bad service

Very nice and cozy hotel perfect for families who want to stay at a cheaper hotel in Kristiansand. Room was small but great for the price with a double bed and bathroom. The lady working was extremely nice and we felt very welcome. There are no hotel employees working after 7, but we had no problems. On the internet it said we would get breakfast, but it was not free and we had to go to a nearby café. In the basement of the hotel, there was a nice kitchen we could use at all times, and there was free tea and coffee. Parking was also not free and we had to pay 120 nok for 24 hours. Overall very happy with our experience.

Very nice and cozy hotel

Me and my sister stayed here for two days, we liked our room, it was nice, clean and big enough for us. 
The location is great! Near the beach and just a short walk to downtown. We spent time in the backyard with many flowers, we also meet a cute cat!

Beautiful place near the beach!

I've stayed in this hotel twice within a few weeks. It's clean and comfortable, and well placed for transport, shopping, sightseeing and the theatre. No breakfast, but there are plenty of good bakeries close by. Downstairs it's possible to make your own waffles from 15:00-23:00 each day. No lift.

Comfortable hotel, well-placed - and free waffles!

When we were booking it was written ''parking lot''. We understood for free but when we had reservated then suddenly the information came up that it cost kr.120,- p/d
We asked the host about it and he lowered it to kr.60,- p/d.

Also it was written that there was breakfast.
When we arrived and we asked what time the breakfast was the host started to tell that the business were going bad and that they had stopped serving breakfast. But this was exactly the reason for us why we had booked a hotel and not an apartment on airbnb. The host told us that he had informed booking.com about it and that they hadn't changed it on the internet. But that didn't helped us on that moment.
The room was okay for us. But what should we do with a coffee machine without coffee capsels, neither a cup. There was tea but no glasses and no sugar/milk.
So beware about this all. Other then this we had a pleasant stay. But for that money we could have booked an apartment at airbnb with fridge, stove etc. so that we could have made breakfast ourselves.

No breakfast

A health emergency put my father in the hospital and sent the rest of the family scrambling to book a hotel in an unfamiliar city. Finding the Sjøgløtt was true serendipity. We rented one of the apartment style units with a dining area, a family room with a sofa bed, and a separate bedroom. The room was clean and well-decorated with a full kitchen and a washer/dryer. The hotel itself has a relaxed and casual "hostel-like" (in a good way) atmosphere. Breakfast, in the cozy basement dining area, was included--we particularly enjoyed the self-service waffle station. The youthful staff were unfailingly kind, polite, and helpful. Perhaps the best feature of the hotel is the location, just a couple of blocks away from the sea and Kristiansand's main pedestrian street. Our first visit to Kristiansand and the Sjøgløtt wasn't exactly planned, but we would happily return.

Charming hotel in the heart of Kristiansand

Located only 5 minutes drive from the ferry terminal and close to sea front and the town center. It is also easy to park outside although there is a private hotel car park which you need to reserve and pay for. This is a small hotel but very quirky and nice. It is not luxury but is very clean and comfortable with lovely helpful staff. It is easily one of the best value, centrally located, comfortable hotels I have stayed in on my frequent trips in and around Scandinavia.

Great Location and Hotel

I recently had the pleasure of finding the Sjoglott Hotel in Kristiansand.  The staff member at the front desk was friendly and helpful, arranged a taxi to the airport and suggested excellent restaurant for dinner.  The hotel is in an older historic building (which adds to the charm) in a very quiet street in Kristiansand.  I was able to walk to the waterfront and find excellent restaurant recommended with ease.  The room was comfortable and the rate was an excellent value.  The downstairs area had coffee, tea and waffles in the evening!
I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone wanting a simple and unique room in an off the beaten path section of Kristiansand.  I would definitely stay here again
