Very family-friendly hotel. We were staying with two small children and received a large, beautiful room with ample space for the kids. The staff was very friendly and made us feel welcome and well taken care of. We already look forward to our next stay.

Nice place for us as a familie before the boat to Danmark. Service and the people working there was very friendly and helpfull.

The hotel is vintage in age, design and decor - so different from "seen one, seen them all" modern facilities.  Location is close to town but feels rural and a bit rustic - just what we look for in lodgings while on holiday.  Staff went out of their way to be helpful (calling for taxis and food delivery when our phones wouldn't operate) and making suggestions for day trips in the area.  They treated us like family!  Be aware that the television might not work (high winds had disabled the connection while we were there) but wi-fi worked fine.  We would certainly visit again!

Everything was ok except the wi-fi was very lousy.

The shared spaces and grounds of this place give the feeling of staying in a grand estate. The inn keeper is extremely helpful and kind. The property is older and our room was average, but our stay was made memorable by the lovely charm of the inn itself.

Our Norwegian partner made sure that we could investigate (red. paranormal investigation) this historic site together.
The rooms were good, breakfast buffet okay. The staff is friendly and there is an interesting history to this place.

Perfect for our overnight stay to get to the ferry to Denmark. Room was large enough, bathroom was clean and good size. Good beds. To bad the window could not open further.

I agree with the prior review that this a nice enough place... A bit in need of a facelift.  However, the hosts are ver nice and it is clean.  The real surprise was the dinner.  Very, very good and a great value!  We didn't eat here the first night as we went to Becks (based on other reviews).  It was good too.  We ate in tonight because it was raining like crazy.  What a treat!  My husband had a wonderful pork chop with the mashed potatoes and I had local fish.  Both were well prepared and flavorful.. The fire in the bar/dining made it especially cozy..  Worth a stop!

What a history

This place is run by real people you can talk and have a laugh and joke with.  I enjoyed my stay at this privately run hotel.  Good service & friendly.

 Some of the rooms are motel rooms with their own entrance from the courtyard. 
I rented one of these. There's a small cooking corner with fridge, water cooker and cooking plates but no casseroles etc. Room is small but ok, I like the entrance straight to the room, easy with a dog and also if one has more stuff to carry:). TV and wifi didn't work but I didn't need any of it so I didn't ask about it either. 

Small but good breakfast,  it was OK to bring breakfast to room which was nice. Pool is out of order til August I think. 

I loved the location because the park, Bøkeskogen. Very short way for a nice forest walk. There's also a restaurant(dog friendly!) in the middle of the forest. The hill up to the hotel is kinda crazy, just saying:)

I would imagine I could stay here again if traveling with my dog-its not always easy to find a place with entrance on ground level.

This hotel has left me with mixed feelings.  Upon arrival the first impression was oops, this doesn't look too good but we were tired after a long drive and wanted to get out of the car and relax.  When we walked inside we were happily greeted by the owner who immediately put us at ease.  He checked us in, gave us a brief history of the property and a brief tour of the inside of the hotel.  He showed us where breakfast would be served and asked what time we would like to eat.  We were catching the early ferry and told him we would only like coffee so he had it waiting for us at the bar area and we couldn't have been happier before we got on our way and planned to eat after we were settled on the ferry crossing.  The room& bath room were spotlessly clean, we got our computer hooked up to check e-mails with no problem and we settled in to watch a little TV before retiring for the night.  The bed was not very comfortable and is in need of replacing.  Extra pillows would have been nice as the ones on the bed were very flat and pretty worthless.
