We originally planned to travel from Oslo to Bergen and take a fjord cruise while there. We decided to take the train to Flam and then ferry to Leikanger and spend a night on Sognefjord. It was a great choice. It is a beautiful village and a nice walking trail along the fjord. We learned that Leikanger was home to King Harald Finehair - a character that we met on the Vikings TV series. It includes an excellent breakfast and dinner at the hotel was excellent. The rooms are older but comfortable. The family room wasn't the one we expected - it had a view but it was smaller. For one night it was ok but we would have booked two rooms We were a little concerned that our ferry departure leaving at 4:30pm. However, the hotel staff was very accomodating and made us comfortable. We ordered pizza for lunch to eat outside on the picnic tables - to our surprise they brought it out with plates and silverware! The one night we stayed here was a highlight of our two weeks in Scandinavia.
