On my seven day road trip from Bergen to Trondheim and return, this was an amazing place to stay.  My room (the queen's suite) was spacious and lovely.  The evening dinner and matched wines were delicious.  The best cooked venison I have ever had.  I loved the ambience of the place, steeped in hillwalking history and art.  The accommodation is stylistically simple, but finished to a very high spec and ever so comfortable.  The breakfast was superb - and the invite to take away a packed lunch and a flask of coffee welcome.
My only regret is I stayed here just one night.  But the is easily fixed.

If you want to feel and live history, this is the place. With recordings back to the 14th century it is really something special. We booked Stallen2 and it was absolutely lovely. It has all been preserved and kept beautifully and with all the comfort you need. Breakfast and dinner served as it should with local and fresh produce. The staff is friendly and service minded.

We had a delightful 3-day stay at Roisheim -- it was one of our favorite hotels during our 2-1/2 week trip in Norway. The hotel is nestled at the foot of the mountains in a beautiful valley outside Lom.  We stayed in "best historic room" (#12) and loved it! Gorgeous view down the valley, comfortable bed, sweet bathroom with soaking tub overlooking the mountain greenery. Great location for hikes straight from the hotel. Owners and staff are friendly, professional, helpful.  We had the (expensive) set course dinner one night, which was wonderful, at our little table in the cozy dining room. (The other nights we drove into Lom for dinner -- not much there, but less expensive than the hotel.) Each night we had beers by the huge corner fireplace in one of the common rooms. The hotel has a library and other rooms to hang out in. Definitely recommend staying here!

I can't say enough nice things about this hotel and the hosts.  We had an incredible time staying in historical Norwegian rooms and experiencing the wonderful hospitality. The rooms have amazing character and the location cannot be beat.  5 stars!

This is the most beautiful place to stay. Clean old farm buildings ideally kitted out with bath tubs, comfortable beds etc. Warm fires in living areas. Best of all is the food. The cooking is exceptional. 

This is the place to stay when you are in the countryside in Norway! Rustic charm with all the amenities; great bedding, barrel baths, exquisite food, lots of ambiance. Be sure to eat dinner, a four course gourmet delight without being too large or taking 3 hours. Dinner is served at 7:30 and done around 9. Perfect! Breakfast is equally as good, a top notch buffet where everything is either home made and/or sourced locally. Only wish we could have stayed longer.

A very special place in the heart of Bøverdalen and Jotunheimen. Take a trip back in time and enjoy handmade food at its best!
We stayed two nights and had a lovely time. Nice and warm staff, genuine and clean rooms. 

Our hosts, Lise and Kjetil warmly welcomed us to their boutique hotel which had its origins as a farmhouse. Our timbered room featured a comfortable 4 poster bed, a fireplace which made it quite cosy and a hot tub in which to soak and relax. Breakfast and the 4 course dinners were served in the main house which was furnished with interesting pieces of vintage knick knacks. Kjetil is also the chef and the dinners were definitely award worthy while the breakfast spread was truly generous in choice. Guests are encouraged to pack their takeaway lunch with the choices from breakfast at no extra charge. We enjoyed 2 nights at this lovely property and would have stayed longer had it been possible. Thank you, Lise and Kjetil for a memorable stay.

It is so cosy. You sleep in old cabins. Part og the buildings dates back to 17th hundreds. Staff is very friendly. You feel like you are part of a family. Food is excellent and home made. We had the four course set dinner (only choice), which was magic. I have been there several times in the past and Røisheim always delivers.

Surrounded by forest, amazing place, service, food, people, and room, delighted, very typical, and traditional, perfect stop for a night along the way , really, perfect.
And the wood bath was the nice touch for a warm calm pause!

The perfect mountain hotel

Living history!

What an utter treat the staff, in particular the main chef, and environment are. The rooms are basic but in the best possible way. There is a charm in its simplicity. The beds are comfortable, the duvet good quality. But the glory of this gem is the dining experience.  We had dinner there our first night and it is an experience. It is a tasting menu that you can pair with the chef’s choice of wines or you can go off piste and order your own which is what we did. Quickly, the salmon starter and Tuscan beef main were simply out of this world. Breakfast is included and also delicious. Do not think you are going to a 5* resort. You aren’t. You are going to an experience that is beautiful

Stunning old hotel

Quality and history in all rooms and walls. Delicious food in quiet surroundings. A place you will never forget. The new hosts focus on good dining experiences and a homely atmosphere. All the rooms have a unique character and are placed in many old farm buildings from the local community. All kind of mountain hiking and climbing in the highest mountains of Norway are a few minutes drive away.

Unique place

This unique hotel may be best appreciated if one approached it as u r a guest entering into a long-gone era.  As a guest, u accommodate ur self to the dining schedule, recognizing this is an environment of relaxation, beauty, and history.  Expectations not met?  Simply inquire and all questions/concerns were addressed with a pleasant and accommodating attitude. Locales employed here for multiple years and offer great touring suggestions.

The hotel is historic with many old buildings with grass on their roofs. The main building has several rooms with roll top bath. The outer buildings such as the schoolhouse have wooden bath tubs with a short ladder to climb in. Lovely goodies in the bathroom by L’Occitane. Beds are very comfortable.
The staff were extremely helpful and friendly and the food was exceptional. Dinner was spinach pie with gravadlax, wild mushroom soup, veal with potatoes and vegetables and raspberries cooked with meringue on top. Breakfast was also very good with a wide variety of cold meats, cheese, herring etc. and you also had the option to make a packed lunch - plastic food bags provided.
It was a very special hotel. Caution if you have limited mobility.
