Torvis Hotell hosted my daughter's wedding in 2021.  I was not able to attend due to Covid restrictions but Julia and Anders went out of their way to make ways for me to watch the wedding via streaming.  It was a lovely celebration and  created a fairy-tale wedding for my daughter.  Fast forward to one year later.  I finally had the opportunity to visit this lovely, boutique hotel.    It was stunning!  Beautiful location, breath-taking views, exquisite food, cozy atmosphere and splendid accommodations.  Would highly recommend.  Not your normal large, commercial hotel.  Julia and Anders specialize in customer service!  Don't miss this exceptional experience!!

Honestly I don't understand the negative comments about this beautiful hotel. We had a fantastic stay. The staff and owners were angels, they were extremely friendly. After much rain we decided to leave our camper holiday to have a warm shower and comfortable bed for our honeymoon in Norway. We spent one night here and decided to stay another night because we just could not get enough. Let's start with the beautiful surroundings, it is absolutely stunning. Even in rain and in misty weather it is magical. The hotel is beautiful, very romantic and has a lot of history. The decorations and design is just very unique. I can't praise the staff and owners enough. They gave us discount because we made a last minute booking and when they heard it was our honeymoon they made our stay magical, with private access to the suite balcony with stunning view over the fjord, a huuuuuge baileys and longdrink as complimentary drinks for our honeymoon, dessert with fireworks for my birthday, extra discount on the room.... The food was fantastic, very elegant and fantastic flavours. And the breakfast was huge with a lot of choice.  The room is lovely, I noted the brand of the duvets and sheets because they are sooo soft and featherly. Yes there is no coffee and tea in the room, but there is free coffee in the lounge to enjoy at their huge fireplace. I hope my message will convince other travellers to visit this hidden gem. I want to personally thank Julia and Anders for our honeymoon special experience.

After some car trouble we arrived very late just hoping for a warm bed and a hot shower, but we got so much more. 
Even though the kitchen was already closed, they managed to serve an absolutely wonderful 2 course dinner, and Anders did everything to give us an amazing WOW experience. 
The rooms are good, and the salon (with fireplace!) and the dining area just exude the rich history of the hotel. 
Would definitely highly recommend!

Absolutely amazing!

The Torvis hotel is a funky and fun place to stay. The rooms have balconies that overlook the fjord which have a great view. The wi fi is a little unreliable. The room and bathroom are small, but not any smaller than the other historical places that we stayed in Norway. The overall spirit of the hotel is really eclectic and the service is excellent.

Fun and funky

This is a fantastic hotel in Marifjøra, which I would highly recommend. We spent 4 nights, including a wedding celebration. Everything (including the weather) was just great. The staff went out of their way to cater to our needs, the food was excellent, and the dessert was to die for. The breakfast was varied and good. You could make your own lunch, or you could eat lunch at the Marifjøra Cafe (limited opening hours)

The hotel has it’s own library, with a lot of books (mainly in Norwegian, but also other languages). The lounge with a fire place was nice, although the grand piano could do with a tune-up (and probably some repairs).

The garden with apple threes was very calming. And the hotel is really close to the fjord, which btw is very cold, due to the glaciers. We did see some porpoises.

A perfect place to relax in fantastic nature.

Wifi was not too good all over the hotel, but who needs wifi in a place like this?

Fantastic hotel with a personality (and a library)

Tørvis is a classic norwegian fjord-hotel. Most rooms have a magnificent view of the fjord, which is only 100m from the hotels front step.
Spacious rooms (with no TV, which was perfect) from where one can sit and look out on the deep green waters.
The hotel has a lot of old charm, but is comfortable. 
Breakfast was very good. as of the summer 2020 there was no dinner-service, but we were told it would be back this autumn.
Short drive to Nigaardsbreen, which is a sight. there are a lot of hiking routes from the hotel as well. ask the receptionist for suggestions.

fantastic fjord-vista

Torvis Hotel is just off the main road coming away from the glacier region of Norway.
We were looking for something a bit better than the regular cheap camping type places( (which are not cheap!) and found Torvis. We loved it from the moment we stepped inside. Lovely feeling of quality, as we passed through the old library area to reach our bedroom. Gorgeous view of the lake from our balcony. Altogether a great stay

Lovely Hotel near the mountains

We stayed here a couple of years ago. We had a great experience then. When we came back now, the experience was terrible. We paid NOK 2500 for one night and the receptionist did not welcome us in a friendly way. She was only talking about rules and what not to.
I asked for a cup of coffe and was told it would be charged on the room, totaly unebeliveable when you pay NOK 2500 for one night. The breakfast service was very poor and they were not able to clean of tables with used plates in a timely matter.
The hotel itself and the location is very good, but the staff was very unfriendly and gave poor value for money.
Never going back again.

Very Poor and Unfriendly Staff

We enjoyed a three course dinner at Tørvis. The food was very good and the atmosphere at the hotel is truly charming. The staff was nice and polite. Only drawback would be the choice of desserts, which was quite limited with only two cakes to choose from. We would love to come back to Tørvis! 

Nice dinner in charming atmosphere 

I was with a large group at the hotel recently and we all absolutely loved it.  From its quiet location and fjord views, to drinks on the patio.  From the newly renovated bathrooms to the comfortable beds.  From the delicious dinner to a plentiful breakfast.  From the charming and unique interiors to the excellent service, we enjoyed everything about the Torvis and it's staff.
