If you want a pleaseant stay at Hafslo in the end of the Sognefjord Eikum Hotel is your choice. Excelent service and traditional food, in then center of the fjord and Mountains 🙂. The Hotel is placed in the midle of the added photo

Excelent Hotel in Sogn Norway

We came with a group touring around Norway. The room was very ordinary and plain.  The breakfast was very simple but we managed.  However we found the evening meal very good and tasty which surprised us.

I disagree with other English-language reviews about this hotel. It is extremely quiet, located away from major roads, and the rroms are comfortable. The decor isn't the standard Scandanavian modern that you get in newer hotels, but it's clean and well maintained, and I'll take slightly dated interiors over road noise any day. There's no lift, so if you have physical limitations, get a first floor room. Otherwise, the rooms on the top floor have decent views and get you away from the tour groups. Breakfast standard scandavian style with good quality meats. Staff are friendly and helpful. There are some nice places to go for an evening stroll around the hotel. We didn't eat dinner in the restaurant, so can't comment on that, but there's a well-stocked grocery store open till 8pm across the street so you needn't go hungry. For what I value in a hotel, which is above all a good night's sleep, this is a great place.

quiet and comfortable

We came here as a group for one night with a pre-paid dinner. I understand that groups are treated differently since the hotel is not their choice and they will be gone next morning, but the dinner we received was similar to a fixed-price business lunch consisting of pre-warmed thin slices of pork, cabbage and vegs from a frozen pack.  Had we not stayed the previous night in a similar 3-star hotel where dinner was a completely different affair, we wouldn't have minded this one.  But the contrast was striking.  We complained and told the manager that the hotel was far away from 3 stars, and their chef lacked imagination in cooking (if he ever does), and the next morning received several glaring stares from the owner.
The breakfast was no better, without any hot dishes (such as scrambled eggs, for example).  For those who are constanly in motion (be it a bus, or a car), breakfast is sometimes the only guaranteed hot meal.  The price of a lunchpack (NOK 75) was exhorbitant in comparison with other places.
This hotel is the only one in the area, and we got stuck there on a Sunday evening without any other places to go. To my mind, this is misusing the advantage, pure and simple.

Not a 3-star hotel

As you will find in other hotels in Norway, prices, high prices are a problem. But the price/quality ratio, fortunately, is not always the same.
Last August I have paid 315 Eur for a double room (two nights) at Eikum hotel. For that price even in Norway you can expect a better hotel. For instance, after Eikun we spent a night in a three stars hotel at Hornidal and at a lower price we get a similar or even better quality breakfast, a better room and bathroom, and, of course, a lift to reach the different floors.
If my impressions and info are not wrong, Eikum is a family hotel that being running for decades with dedication and effort, today it look likes something between a country Inn and a Hostel, not really a proper three stars Hotel.
The location is fantastic, a quite village along the shore of the lake Hafslovatnet, about 12 miles from Sogndal and not far from the most wonderful Jostedalsbreen.
The staff is correct, even familiar. But the first thing that will disappoint you is the absence of a lift within the hotel precincts - specially if your bedroom is at the third floor.
The bedroom space is convenient and the view of our room, facing to a little garden was nice, but the old fashioned carpet smells a bit unpleasant, the tv set was an old big box tv (don't expect channels in English) which occupies most of the table space.
The bathroom hasn't got hairdryer and not a single switch; the shower door doesn't close properly.
The breakfast was enough but the coffee served was horrible, I'm afraid.
The Wi-Fi (free access) was very weak and which frequently interruptions - the staff informed me that Wi-Fi signal was fine at the lobby (!)
For a lower price and with some refurbishment (a lift is a must), the hotel might be a good choice, but for a price like the one we paid and in its current conditions, I'm afraid I won't recommend it.
