We visited Djupvasshytta for one night,2 adults and 2 teenagers. Friendly and welcoming staff. Clean and delicate rooms, charming interior design with a perfect blend of modern style with retro elements. Delicious dinner and the breakfast was fantastic, personally served at the table.

We had a room facing the lake, stunning view!  The food was fabulous and the staff very friendly and attentive.  The only drawback for some people might be no wi-fi and no cell service.  It didn't matter to us at all.

We LOVED this hotel!  Kindest staff we have ever had the pleasure of meeting. Quiet cute rooms, the view of the lake and mountains was so incredibly beautiful!  Breakfast and dinner was AMAZING!  Get the Oceans delight as an appetizer when you go for dinner, every meal we had was amazing and reasonably priced; please tip!
We loved this hotel so much, we booked it again after not being very fond of Geiranger in the least..we would have stayed a 3rd night if it wasn't booked up!  We did a hike by the lake as well that was beautiful; some people swam in the clean lake, however it is freezing!  They do have bus tours that stop by to use the gift shop and bathrooms (they must pay to use them), however this was never an inconvenience for us.
Beds were very comfortable, coffee in the room was very good. Heated floors in the bathroom!  Was unsure about the glass curved showers, but it worked out nicely and there was no leaking as with most.
The windows open up to let in a lot of fresh norwegian air, it was very comfortable, even in July!
This was our honeymoon vacation and we did a great deal of hiking & needed to do some laundry after a previous hotel's wasn't wouldn't allow us after assuring us we could...this hotel let us wash all of our clothes (they couldn't let us dry our clothes, but allowed us to wash and air dry all of our clothing so that we could have clean clothes for the remainder of our trip)!  We tipped the kind staff member for all of her hard work.

If we every make it back to this region of Norway, we will be spending our evenings here!  10/10 recommend!

We had a very nice room on the backside of the hotel.  It is very simple, but decorated nicely.  They had a nice area for luggage. Easy access to Geiranger and just across the street from the Sky Road/Dalsnibba, which is absolutely beautiful and worth the toll.  The staff was very friendly and accommodating. They made us a fresh breakfast in the morning which was delicious.  Highly recommended.

My husband and myself visited this restaurant on an organised day trip from the TUI Marella ship Discovery, after seeing the magnificent views from the top of the Geiranger Fjord, the group stopped here for lunch. Have to say how well organised it all was, tables were numbered for the various groups, the waitresses were very polite, quick and efficientand the food was amazing. we had prawns with salmon and chives, mixed with crema fraiche with toast for starters, scrumptious! then fresh salmon with potatoes, and some veg with a sauce for main, yummy! and pancetta with sauce for pudding. the meal was delicious. The views from the restaurant are absolutely breathtaking, a gorgeous setting for anyone who enjoys their food.

First thing you need to know before going, there is no cellphone reception, no radio reception and no wifi or internet around, so you better be ready to disconnect!

That being said, this is a very nice place to stay. The rooms are spacious, clean and very nicely decorated. The staff is very friendly and helpful. This is a very nice place to stay if you don't like crowded places, there are only 8 rooms.

Finally the restaurant has a small menu, we have been able to taste everything with my wife by staying 2 nights, but everything is excellent!

This is only about 15 minutes away from Geiranger and way cheaper than hotels a little closer, but which will probably have a lot less charming.

Beautiful location with a great view

Food to die for

Best place to disconnect!

Wonderful stay

Awesome Place!!!

This high up location is very cold, at the foot of a glacier and beside a glacial lake, but the room was warm with a heated bathroom floor. Bliss! Ask for a lake-view room, for an extra NOK100, or face the car park with noisy bikers and coachloads of Asian tourists stopping to take photos. 
Coffee machine and kettle, very narrow twin beds. The thin rough loo paper is a stingy and disappointing aspect. At that price. 
Noisy generator at night, and no internet/wifi. 
All okay if you want isolation and to disconnect from the world. 

There is no lounge area to enjoy the fabulous view, very disappointing! 

Dinner, extra, was good but the servings tiny and expensive. There is nowhere else to get dinner with this isolated location. 

Breakfast is not a buffet but individually, and beautifully served, generous and tasty, but the fried eggs were underdone and half raw!

This place closes at the end of August and the area closed all winter. It becomes inaccessible.

Stark Beauty in the middle of nowhere

After a very positive daytime visit during Covid times, noticing how well the place had been refurbished and the pleasant service from the foreign staff, it came as a tremendous disappointment to find that this was simply not the same place two years later.

Now, it was overrun by throngs of foreign bus/group tourists to and from cruise ships in Geiranger and to and from Dalsnibba viewpoint.
Not only this, when trying to find a table to get a small meal break, we were actually told to leave, as the entire place was only reserved for groups. However, we were mercifully allowed to go to the souvenir shop to leave our money there instead.

To treat indidual travellers as more or less unwanted trash, yet allow them to still fill their coffers in return for ridiculously overpriced uninteresting things made in China, strikes me as deliberate suicide - at least with the message that is being sent.

It seems that after Covid times, some places are so desperate to haul in cash that they are willing to sacrifice whatever they want in return for maximum profit. I would still draw the line somewhere between morally questionable and utterly self destructive. Then again, perhaps the "we don't care, as we get more than enough tourists anyway" applies. Well, the day may come when this attitude will be sorely regretted - or perhaps not, as long as the bank account has been filled satisfyingly enough, and then it is time to leave the place in ruin and do the same thing elsewhere.

Their website claims that "We would like to welcome you as our guest, and we will do our best to make your stay memorable." They definitely managed to fail epically at the first, yet succeeded grandly with the latter! Even if the claim seems focused on overnight guests...but who would want to spend a night here when you are thrown out of the cafeteria for just entering and not being a foreign group tourist?

The two stars is for when imagining how it was before, otherwise this would have earned a one star review.

Individual travellers shall not pass!

From the pictures, this place looks amazing. The second you step in, the vibe changes. This is a purposefully built stop for busses shipping jn troves of tourists for coffee and a bun. Not very charming. The cafe is often closed due to reservations for a few buses coming in. 

The place is only open 3 months during the summer, the rest of the year the place is inaccessible due to horrible weather.
Not even the locals go here during winter. 

It’s cheaper than a hotel in Geiranger but still not cheap. The standard isn’t very high and everything seems a bit dated. 

Beware, the place is very remote and there’s nothing nearby. There’s no Wi-Fi, no 4g and not even cell phone coverage. 

Don’t stop here, keep driving.
