Charmingly Classic Hotel. Very good
Food at the restaurant. The salmon was great with a traditional “Sandefjord smør” sauce. The staff is friendly and gives great service. The hotel has stunning views to the lake and historical atmosphere. We’re staying for a week, we love it here.

Spacious rooms with comfortable beds and natural light. The breakfast buffet had options for all food interests. Staff were friendly and ready to recommend local restaurants or answer questions. Free parking on site.

We have been traveling through Norway and we made an stop in Nottoden. Our Hotel selected was Brattrein Hotel. It is a beautiful place with ocean view rooms, it is clean, warm and comfy. The personnel is amazing! They are so helpful and kind. The breakfast included in the rate and quite complete just what you need to start your day!

We are traveling with our baby and the things are quite different, we have to move by taxi not public transportation as we did before have a baby and the personnel of the hotel help us asking for taxis which were so punctual and friendly. All the people that we met in Nottoden were amazing! We are more than happy to have stopped in Nottoden and have selected Brattrein Hotel.

A stately towering old building, the hotel is about a 4 minute drive outside the city centre. Its past as an orphanage is non-apparent, apart from the stories told by the staff. 
Speaking of which, you'd be hard pressed to fint a more accommodating hotel staff anywhere. In contrast to regular ol' buffet breakfasts, yours is served personally by the owners of the hotel (the bacon is to die for) at the time of your choosing.

The commodities are simple, but effective. There are no TVs in the rooms, but a massive flat screen in the common area. Here you can also find a fridge to put whatever food or drinks you might want to bring to the hotel with you, as well as coffee, tea and a microwave. 

The room is up to standard. Most noticeable in my room were two images of Little Steven, as well as a bed so massive and soft that I felt like it would swallow me up. 

All in all a most excellent experience.

A very nice hotel, situated just outside of Notodden. The rooms are a bit outdated, but with good beds and very clean. Very nice staff and good food, although limited selection during COVID 19. Perfect location for next blues festival at Notodden.

The hotel sits on a little hill overlooking the water and it's location is spectacular. The staff are welcoming and friendly and were helpful with arranging a cot for us. The room was large, spacious, comfy and well lit. The views from the rooms are also stunning, and it was nice to relax and unwind. Would have liked to have stayed longer, but we only stayed for one night. The breakfast was great, lot's of options and variety to choose from. Would have given 5 for it, but the confusion as to the restaurant offering meals and it not being clear on the websites was a little inconvenient.

We just stayed one night here but were very impressed. The room and bathroom were sparkling clean. There were nice views over the park-like garden, the lake and the mountains. The neighborhood was quiet. There is a short walk to downtown along the water or along the road. The hamburgers in the bar were excellent and the choice of beer was good. The breakfast was plain and simple but good quality offerings.
The staff was friendly and obviously enthusiastic about their workplace and their town. That sort of attitude is infectious and we appreciated Notodden more for it.

We stayed here to break up the journey from Sand to Oslo and found this hotel to be a great place to kick back and relax. The rooms are modern and comfortable and an extensive selection of nice teas are available in the common area.
The bar downstairs offers a good selection of Norwegian beers that can be enjoyed on the terrace that overlooks the lake. We also thoroughly enjoyed the homemade burger!
Breakfast was comprehensive and excellent and was beautifully presented. Top marks.

Hotel is a bit run-down and needs a bit of TLC. Overall, my room was clean but its looking tired and worn-out. The arm on the upholstered chair in the room was ripped and torn, leather seat at the desk area was chipped and worn. Very strange mix of toiletries brands in the bathroom. Breakfast selection was limited. Hotel is located on a hill, limited bus stops nearby, so this hotel is more suited to someone with a car. Very poor sound-proofing in bedrooms - could hear TV and snoring from adjacent rooms. Noise from hallway and lift very noisy at night-time - got a poor night's sleep here.

Hotel is a bit tired and unloved

Lovely position over the lake. Amazing views. The room was large and clean but sparsely furnished. There were no tea making facilities or TV. The kitchen was not open so we had to go into the town to eat. The hotel was originally the training centre for the main business in the town and it was more like a conference centre. We has asked for a double bed but got 2 singles. I would go again just for the location but not sure it's value for money.
