Absolutely the worst place I ever booked I’m Oslo and I Stayed over 80 hotels since 2016!!!! Very poor self checkin. There was some sex-work and prostitution in the lobby and both me and my son felt unsafe and uncomfortable in our room. The door to the balcony was broken and a neighbor could easily climb over to rob us. Bed was very hard and worn out and made sounds immediately. Tv channel didn’t work and it smelled cloroform. I called the resection and wanted to check out and asked if I could get refund for at least 1 night since I booked 2,  but no help was provided

RUN!!!!!! Save our money

This is most certainly a no frills accommodation. It is more like student accommodation, basically an apartment with bedrooms that all lock. Everything else is shared. 

Having arrived at nighttime I didn’t see the cleanliness issues until the next morning, definitely could be improved dramatically.

The bed also wasn’t very comfortable and the pillows had zero support.

Given the price of other accommodation in Oslo this is a good option as it is a lot cheaper, but just bare in mind that it is not a fancy stay

On the plus side, very good location for travel links into the city centre 

You get what you pay for

When we first arrived at Central City Hostels there was a used condom on the floor, under the bed. Moreover, the place smelled intensely like milk gone bad - sleeping on a train station would be more alluring, and doesn't cost 450 NOK a night. After complaining, we were allocated to a new similar room, this time with no condom. This room didn't smell as bad, but the floors were so dusty it must have been months
since they were last cleaned under the beds (not good if you have a cold or asthma).

A second complaint led to an upgrade to a room at Kampen Hotel (the reception manages multiple hotels/hostels). We were assured a discount for all the hazzle, and technically we got one, at least according to the prices at kampenhotell.no. However, booking the same room through booking.com would have cost about the same (~750 NOK a night), AND would include breakfast.

In conclusion, I spent about 1.5 hours in total arguing with staff speaking mostly in less than helpful nonsense jargon, and got a "discounted" room at a prize slightly MORE expensive than I would have gotten through booking.com. 

My recommendation: just book the slightly more expensive hotel from the start, and don't even consider going for the cheaper options like Central City Shared Apartments.

Condom on the floor and foul smell

Friend and I stayed for a couple nights for a weekend trip. The rooms were clean and towels were provided. The rooms are secure: you have to use your keycard through 2 different doors in the main building to get to your room, with has a physical key. It's in a relatively quiet and safe area of the city. 

There's a kitchen with basic equipment provided, which if you know how to cook is probably your only way of cheaply trying local cuisine since otherwise you'll be dishing out 30 dollars for salmon. 

Within walking distance is a 7 Eleven (note: much more posh than in the US), a FANTASTIC bakery in the nearby square of shops, and a grocery market. You're also within walking distance of the Munch Museum, a train stop, and really overall it's quite a fantastic location. 

The hostel seems to be owned by a Best Western franchise based on the keycard's writing, which is a name I trust too. Overall, fantastic price for the location. Considering you'll be dishing out significant money for food, might as well save on accommodations.

Great location

Pluses: Location is great, close to any public transport means, including night bus that goes to Oslo S (if needed). The staff was helpful. They have a luggage room.
Minuses: The room is shared with many other rooms - there's only one shower and 2 toilets. It can get noisy ; neighbors almost never keep quiet. Shower is not cleaned daily. The kitchen is equipped, but has no sockets within hand-reach. The rooms don't have windows.
But, for a short stay, the place can be great!

Good for a short stay

This is not like a hostel with a private room and shared bathroom.  This is a shared apartment and is like living with crazy roommates.  The TV is shared.  My roommates left their stuff everywhere in  The shared space.  They also came in at 1:30 am.  Although the price was low, this is not a suitable living situation.  The apartment itself had issues.  No light in the kitchen, apparently not enough outlets in the other bedroom as the people there left their door open in order to run an extension cord from the living room. Don’t stay here.  However if you ignore my advice, let me give you directions from the t-bane stop.  When you come up to the exit, there are two choices.  On the right, the door leads directly outside.  TAKE the exit on the left which is a tunnel.  You will come out in a little courtyard surrounded by shops and restaurants.  Walk straight through to the other side and take a left In Front of Tannlege.  Go up the little incline to the street.  Cross over (you will see a gas station and a 7/11 underneath the building in front of you) .  Take a right and you will see a hotel sign and the entrance is a little further down the block.  There are 3 hotels serviced by one lobby.

Only appropriate for friends or family

We have stayed here during 3 nights and have shared our apartment with 4 Chinese girls

++ = location (2 stops to the central station) and price for Norway

- - = rooms very small, and no place for our clothes. Not very clean shared bathroom and kitchen especially if your roommates do not « respect » wearing shoes for using bathroom
No cleaning made by the hostel during our stay
Last negative point, our room was directly in front of the kitchen/living room so that if your roommates « lives » at midnight, you enjoy the party at the same time 


Not very super top !

Stayed here for three nights in January. 

We travelled to Oslo Torp airport. Initially I was worried about getting in to Oslo but it couldn’t have been easier. Follow the signs for the exit through the airport, and the bus to the city centre (Torp Ekspressen) is waiting for you right outside the exit. This bus takes you to Oslo bus terminal which is next to the Oslo central station. From the central station you simply get any east bound underground tube to Toyen (two stops).

The hotel is easy to get to from the underground station, just turn left at the exit, walk to the top of the small hill past the shops and then turn right at the traffic lights. The hotel is just on your left about one minute down the street next to the 7 eleven which is open 24 hours. We checked in after midnight and the receptionist was there to help us. I assume this is a 24 hour service. 

The room itself was small and basic, but clean, warm and sufficient for what we needed. There was a fresh towel for each of us, and soap and shower gel was provided. The rest of the shared apartment was clean and there’s even underfloor heating in the bathroom. 

The only reason I’m not giving this room 5 stars is because the room itself could have been a little bigger. It was literally a room with two beds in, but for people looking to travel around Norway on a budget I think this place is perfect.
