Snaasa Hotel

Nice old hotel with good bed, good food and friendly staff. Relaxing place. Not fancy and new but good. Good buffet between 7 and 9pm. Guests is a mix of tourists, workers and lokal partys like funerals. But they have plenty rooms to spread the guests. Easy parking. You can walk trips to the forrest or the nearby lake, or the small town. Its a little off from the E6 main road so you dont see it from the biggest road, but its not far and worth the detour.

Nice and friendly.

Visited snaasa hotel recently for a wedding party.
The staff were very helpful and we had a lovely time, great evening meal and friendly waitresses. 

Building is old-fashioned (dating from 1890s) and rustic, lots of taxidermy, props and an alter dedicated to a local psychic celebrity (photographs, imprints, and busts...). Outside of the hotel there is a lovely view and traditional grass-roofed huts. There is also a 1900s style mini-museum-room to visit where you can see pictures, furniture and pancake makers. 

My only criticisms being: 
When we entered our room we found that it was very cold and that there was a stain on the carpet. One of the other guests had the lights from the bathroom fall on him when he tried to use the plug.

Helpful staff, rustic and old-fashioned.

We stopped on our way north and south from the Arctic circle. The road leading to Snaasa past the Bola rock carvings was a good route and avoided the slightly heavier traffic on the E6 and the ever changing speed restrictions. 
The hotel is dated but the room was clean, the bed linen good, the room of a good size and the bathroom clean. There was plenty of parking and you could park just outside your room.  There was no air conditioning but that wasn't too much of a problem. 
The breakfast buffet was OK- cereal, cheese, bread, fish, juice and coffee. We had one evening meal there which was disappointing- cold poached salmon and reheated potatoes. We resorted to heading to the local supermarket for supplies. On our second visit we had already decided that a picnic would be a good idea.  Maybe we just had an off day.

Heading north

We had picked up our rental car in Trondheim in the afternoon and had visited the Bolarein petroglyphs on the east side of Snaasa lake - a nice drive but unless you are into stone age carvings ( we are) probably not worth it as only one good carving . We had decided to stay at the hotel, but when we got there saw they also ran a campground and very basic cabins across the road. So we did not stay in the hotel  choosing the cabin, but had  the dinner meal of the day of local  fish which was well cooked and of good size. The food and  the beer reasonably priced. The receptionist / waiter was very courteous and it generally seemed to be an Ok hotel that was catering mainly for those travelling the nearby E6. Very little traffic in the evening so you really feel you are in farming country.

As a shelter for the night, Snåsa hotel was good enough for a tired traveller. The place is nice, clean and tidy. Both room standard and food was very spartan, pretty disappointing that there were no local delis in the breakfast buffet. There is plenty of famous cheese, salted meat, fish dishes, bread and honey to be found from this very important agricultural area of Norway. This could definitely be a quick fix for the overall impression. 
A minor upgrade of the rooms (in terms of comfortable furniture, more delicate and modern wall colours would also be a very easy way to increase the standard from OK to Excellent. There really is a potential.  Snåsa hotel should recognize that most people are used to travelling nowadays, and can easily distinguish between out-of-date and up-to-date.
