Base Camp Hamarøy

Cabin in a breath taking landscape that could have been painted by Knut Hamsun. I do not regret I had a drive-by look at the place, then drove a few hundred meters and realized the magnific landscape, found a place to turn and drove back to check if they had a vacant cabin. And they had one! I cannot praise enough the view from the panorama window in my cabin, across the fjord with good view to the Lofot Wall at the other side. The cabin had 4 beds, all clean and tidy as I also found the showers and toilets to be. The cabin had beside the most wonderful sea view, also a fridge, water heater and a micro, all at normal standards, functioning and clean. The cabin also had a cosy terrace with chairs, table and an ashtray, and wonder of wonders, I could not sleep but had to enjoy the evening sun, and after it had gone down, Aurora Boralis made her entry in the night skies with several formations of lights playng with clarity in the horizon similarily as a snake of Borealis danced just above us. The cabins lays not more than 50-100 meters from the sea, so this is an experience of close encounter with nature more than just a place to sleep. It is also possible to rent boats here, and catch the dinner at the fjord, etiher by oneself or guided by experienced locals. And the fish bites here, people in the area generally gets their dinners fresh from the fjord now and then. The evening view from the cabin was in kaleidoscopic colors as the sun melted behind the colder mountain range in the distant across the broad fjord and is an experience in itself. Also the crew was effective, friendly, service minded and displayed good knowledge about the facilities. This place is a very special place for nature lovers, and the Aussies in the cabin next to mine was naturally, entusiastic delighted by the auroras playin over our heads and around us. Was not expected so early this year. The place seems surprisingly to be duly underrated by people probably expecting something else and are not able to exchange the nature views with their mechanical and electrified TV-watcher lifes. Their own poverty, have mercy, but for nature lovers and for people able to experience the beauty and greatness of nature... this is an overwhelming scope. So recommended!
