Hov Hyttegrend by Likholfossen in Viksdalen is placed in really beautiful surroundings by one of the Norwegian official Tourist Roads. The cabins has a really high standard, and it's quiet. The only sounds you hear is the sound of the waterfall, Likholfossen, that is just outside, and the sound of the birds.
You should bring everything you need of food, drinks and so on, since there is no restaurant or shop close by, but the cabins do have a nice, fully equipped kitchen.
The prices are just great as well - and on our photo tours we have never found a place with such a standard for such a great price!

A beautiful place with high standard

The cabin was warm, cozy and comfortable and it had all you needed for a short or long stay. The natural surroundings of the cabin are amazing and it’s very special that tiny pine trees are growing on the vegetated roofs. I loved that!! Don’t miss the impressive waterfall nearby. The amenities were clean and accessible. I will surely book again here if I’m in the area. Ottar, the person who runs the place was very friendly and welcoming.

Comfortable cabins in outstanding nature

My son and daughter, both in their 20’s and myself stayed at this amazingly tranquil site in a camper van just for one night, as part of our road trip of Norway. Oh, how we would have loved to stay longer.
Truly breathtakingly beautiful and peaceful. The 20 or so cabins are so well sited in such a natural setting they appear meant to be there.
The toilets and showers are a bit of a trek away from the camping area but they were immaculately clean with copious amounts of hot water. The showers were free, unlike many sites we stayed at.
There is a BBQ area right on the lake available to use, as well as a canoe and a rowing boat you can take out for no extra cost.
This was absolutely the cheapest and the best site we stayed at, and if we are ever lucky enough to travel from the UK to Norway again this beautiful place will be top of our list.

Wonderful place

We were supposed to stay just one night there in our plans but it was so beautiful and quiet that we stayed two nights. We stayed in one of the most large hytte, with a large living area (with tv, sofas, and a fully equipped kitchen), two bedrooms and small bathrooms. All for 70 euros per night (we were three). The hytte was impeccable.
The trail that follows the river is a must-do and it is possible even for families, the waterfalls that are 100 meters from the cabins are impressive. The reception when open sells icecreams.

Beautiful location, beautiful hytte

Our stay at Hov hyttegrend was comfortable and pleasant. The host was friendly, the cabins were nice and clean. We fell asleep to the sound of the waterfall, and woke up well-rested. The cabin was a little cold when we first got there, but there were heaters.

Good location, clean and comfortable

the location is more then great. you have your "own waterfall" nearby. And you are living within a forrest. Area was quiet (but ok, not so many people were there).The house was comfortable and all needed items were available. you can use a kayak and a small boat. Fishing permit you can directly buy at reception. Overall - it was a great stay in a quiet environment.

great stay

There is nothing to dislike. Beautiful huts in traditional style, simple, yet equipped with all the necessitites. All the huts have a fridge, oven, and some other stuff, the better ones even have things like TV, but what do you need a TV for in such a place!

You are surrounded by beautiful nature everywhere you go. There is a beautiful lake right there, you can even borrow a boat or a kayak for free to explore it on your own. There is also a waterfall tourist route right next to the site. Sogndal and the Sognefjord are about half an hour away by car, which is perfect. If you don't feel like being too proactive, simply sitting in front of your hut will do. The nature is so beautiful! The campsite is picturesque with the traditional roofs with grass and little trees growing out of them.

The only thing missing is a place to buy proper food (though you can buy some basic food and norwegian candy at the reception) but that is common sense - bring some food with you!

The owner Ottar is kind, yet brief and succinct when you talk to him. Some visitors apparently interpret that as some kind of grumpiness, but that's not the case. When you go to the reception, take a look at the wall behind him. There are drawings of him made by little kids - some of the picture date back to early 70's. The guy is at the business for nearly half a century! Working with people is hard, even moreso for such a long time. He was brief with me as well but it's simply a matter of effectiveness, he answered every question I had and provided some good tips.

All in all, perfect place if you try to seek a peace of mind and/or a good hike. Very affordable even if you are on a tight budget like me.

Simply beautiful

A wonderful stay in a very quiet and impressive environment. The hut was spacious, clean, well equipped. Great starting point for daily hikes. Easy access if you have a good map. Limited internet service but you do not go to such places to play with your IT stuff. Weak point: hot showers only if you have coins.
