This has got to be the worst hotel experience I have ever had in my life. There is bacteria growth in the shower, dust and moisture damage around the windows. When confronting the receptionist, we were told that we could just leave. He insisted that the room had been cleaned. This "hotel" is a total failure. How it is still in business is hard to grasp.

Arrived the hotel late at evening. Super service, felt just like coming home to my parents. Excellent pizza and beer for late night dinner. The next 2 days same service. Volda is blessed with a lovely nature and a scenery from another world.

A bit old-fashioned, and maybe for some, it needs some finishing touches. For 70's generation, it is perfect.

All in all, it is a nice hotel with a friendly staff. And the breakfast is good.

The hotel is pretty close to the center.

My television did not work, but it worked in my co-workers rooms.

Good hotel in Volda

If like me you are stranded in Volda in the middle of winter, Volda Turist Hotel might be your only option for a decent place to sleep.
I paid 1099 for the night, including breakfast, and everywhere was warm and clean. My spacious room had a great view over the town and fjord. The bed was comfortable and there was a large TV with several free channels.
All the review comments about "back to the 80's" and "needs an upgrade" are entirely true. In it's 80's hay day this would have been quite the respectable place, with all the Scandinavian chique of that time. These day's it is something of a sad oddity, but thank goodness it's there when you need it!
Breakfast would be a nightmare for a vegan with a gluten intolerance, but the old-school basics are all there!
As someone who lives and works in Norway I felt that the price was OK.
I noticed they mentioned surfing on the fjord in the hotel dumf! There are some decent surf spots in the region, but I wouldn't want to try surfing in Volda??!!

The only alternative

Volda turisthotel a pleasant surprise!! Ok the hotel is old in many ways but has its own style.
Rooms are ok and with good space. Korridors have wall to wall carpet so it takes away a lot of noise from the other guests. Been here for 11 days and enjoys my stay here. 
Simple but good breakfast and a nice place to sit and eat with a remarkable view out.
Nice and helpful and friendly staff!
Best is to come back from work and know that food is ready and served.
And it really tasteful and nice, and a lot on the plates!!  
Surroundings are inviting for walks and to enjoy the local stores or just a walk out to enjoy the remarkable nature here. 
I will surely come back if my ways crosses this place again.
If not to stay so just to come and eat here!! 

Work on folkestad quay!!

Had a two night stay at the hotel. No elevators, firstly. The hallway and the reception is outdated, but also a bit charming. The rooms are ok, nothing special. Comfy bed, but cold room. The sliding door to the shower section needed an upgrade. It was broken. The heat in the shower disappears after 10 second so I had to turn the knob 40 times to “apply” heat to the water. Poor selection at the breakfast.

Back to 80’s

This hotel is a little dated decor-wise but I think that adds to its charm. Fantastic dinner at the restaurant and very comfortable. There are spectacular views of the mountains and fjords from both my bedroom window and the restaurant. Staff were very helpful with great English skills. Veldig hygglig :-)

Best view from the restuarant

This rather small hotel has a style from the 1970`s. Clean and tidy, not luxurious, but fair enough. You will have a good night`s sleep. However, based on numerous visits during many years, I will highly recommend a dinner in the restaurant. The cook - I believe he is Danish - is a Master. Always good food at this place.Best in the area, no doubt.

This is a nice little hotel in this rural town which is close to the university and not too far from the local airport. It was quiet during my visit and I didn't eat here but the view from my window was lovely.
