I want to start out by saying that Pedro (Peter) and the rest of the staff were so friendly and kind. They are the reason for the 2 stars. They really deserve 5 stars for the hard work they put in for the absent hostess, Silvia.

Don't be fooled by the claims that this is in a 'nature lover's paradise'. There is no public beach access in Puerto Lindo. You must go quite far (walking on a highway with no shoulder) by foot unless you brought a car or can book one of the infrequent taxis to find any access to the ocean. 

Also don't be fooled by any of the messaging that Silvia might give about tings to do in the area. I told her before I booked through AirBnB that I was interested in fishing, spearfishing in particular. She said, "There are all types of fishing opportunities". I found this to be completely untrue. During the time of the year I was there, there were exactly zero fishing opportunities. I asked her if she had any connections to fishermen she could link me up with. She sent me the number of an expat who goes spearfishing in the right season. The first thing he messaged to me was that, "conditions this time of year generally suck." Well, I can take responsibility for not finding this out before making the trip up there from Panama City, but I would also like to see some accountability taken by Silvia for not even knowing this very important detail. Maybe she could have reached out to this contact to see about the viability of fishing there before either lying or lazily passing along false information. 

Whatever is your reason for visiting Puerto Lindo, please consider it carefully before booking to many nights at Wunderbar.

The Friendliest Staff, Lazy Hostess

We had a wonderful stay at Wunderbar. Sylvia and the host Peter were incredibly helpful and kind. The hostel was clean and welcoming. We connected with some great people and loved watching the Howler monkeys pass from the backyard. 

Welcoming

The hostel was easily accessible by local transportation. When I arrived, I was greeted by 4 aggressive dogs. They "got out" of an unlocked area and charged at me. One jumped up and scratched me. The owner came running out and trying to calm them down by screaming in German at them. 
I was shaken up and didn't know what to do. She apologized and mentioned they don't do this often, but reading the reviews, the dogs aren't properly trained to not jump and bark at guests. 
There was a charge for the internet but mine was waived as a consolation for the traumatic greeting by the dogs. 
My stay was peaceful and comfortable, but I could not shake the feeling that the dogs were going to get out and attack me

The owner Silvia was very accommodating before and during our stay, helping us with tips we found especially helpful as it was the first time in Panama for us.
The rooms are well ventilated and clean.
The wide terasse with hammocks and jungle view is exceptional ❤️ (colibries flying by all the time, and howler monkeys to be heard from time to time)
Internet is available at good speed (extra cost).
Fresh coffee every morning.
Prepare your own food in the hostel kitchen, head to one of the nearby restaurants or keep an eye on the mobile pizza van stopping by in the nearby Linton Bay Marina.
All in all, it was the best choice we could have made for our stay. Looking forward to our next trip in the area and stay at Hostel Wunderbar!

Carribiean feel with German thoroughness

I stayed in the dorm. Overall the place looks alright but the owner Silvia is totally unfriendly and hostile. Overall in many years of travelling this stands out as the worst hostel experience of my life.

Not a nice place

Last week we spent 6 nights in Hostel Wunderbar. The staff is great in particular, Lady and Silvia are great people, Silvia even took fresh vegetables and fruit out of the city for us! The place is really spacious with a nice garden, where there is a little tree house. From there you can spot the howling monkeys regularly! Waking up with surrounding jungle sounds (Birds and monkeys) was Just beautiful and the islands laying in front of Puerto Lindo's harbour are truly wunderful, during the week there are little tourists on these islands, which makes it even better. We would like to thank Silvia, Lady and the rest of the staff for being very Wunderbar!

Really great place near the beach, small islands and in the middle of the jungle.

We have been at Hostel Wunderbar in April 2017 after a friend who was there a few weeks before recommended it. We did not regret to have made the slightly complicated way to Puerto Lindo. It is a very small village which is quiet and perfect for a nice time without many tourists. It is possible to rent a kanu or kayak and go through the mangroves or to one of the islands close to the shore. Wunderbar has cozy and beautiful rooms and a great kitchen and a big terrace to cook and chill on with monkeys climbing in the trees around the property. The owners were very helpful with every question/problem we has. We planned to stay three nights but ended up styling eight. Great place to snorkel off the coast without taking an expensive tour. Thanks to Silvia and her family, we had a great time!! 

(Wifi only at the Scuba diving school but it is actually quite nice to have a little time to disconnect, make sure to bring cash since there is not ATM
anywhere close) 

Best place in Puerto Lindo

Don't go there if you haven't booked a boat before!
We had contact with Silvia before we went there. She told us to come and we will find a boat via San Blas to Catagena (Colombia). So we trust her to find a boat. As we arrived in her Hostel she hadn't time for us. She was always in hurry and it was no nice atmosphere! She told us to go to the village and find a boat by ourself (without specific contacts). We felt lost and very disappointed walking around four days to search for a chance to go to the islands and to colombia. In this area is nothing special to do! You don´t have internet in the hostel or in the village. There are no supermarkets to buy something. After four days we left without a boat and with ~120USD (for the nights) less. 
People in the village we met told us this story happens not the first time! .... It feels like a rip-off.
The rooms of the hostel are nice, but the unfriendly and stressful atmosphere we haven't felt welcome. During our stay they have been in our room (to check?), but it wasn't not cleaned! Some of the (5?) dogs are incalculable, onetime they are friendly and onetime they bark and try to bite you.
Finally, we DO NOT recommend to go there!

Wunderbar (amazing) - for us it was NOT wunderbar, it was a waste of time and money

My favorite thing about this place is by far the veranda upstairs with the hammocks and the view of the jungle and river. It is so peaceful. We have stayed quite a few times over the past 3 years and always go back. The host is always so friendly, helpful and flexible.

Great place to relax!

Nice place, very clean, nice breakfast and great owners. Dont really get some of the comments on the breakfast, our experience was great. Would highly recommend it.
