We arrived around 9 p.m. because it was a long drive from Panama City. As soon as I walked into the lobby, a man was standing there with a frown on his face. I told him I was there to check in. He said my first name and told me that he was expecting me all day and had no phone number to contact me.  I honestly felt like a teenager who had walked in past their curfew and was being scolded by their parent. He was not friendly at all. He walked us to our room and then he disappeared. He headed into town to grab dinner and got back around 11:30. Anytime I stay in a hotel, I check all the beds to make sure they're clean. We found hair in one of the beds. The sheets smelled bad, like they had not washed. Several of the sheets had old stains on them. The duvet covers were dirty. The floors looked like they had not been swept. The coffee maker was disgusting. The mini fridge was old and rusted. The frying pan handle was broken and greasy. We were completely disgusted, but there was no phone in the room to contact anyone to bring us clean sheets. The lobby was completely dark. We had no choice but to go to sleep and deal with it in the morning. I forgot to mention that when we had first arrived, he asked me why I had 2 extra people, that I had only booked for 4 adults. I had told him that those were my kids, and I didn't think there was an issue because there were 4 beds (1 which was listed as a bunk bed.) He told me that I would have to pay an additional fee for them. But he told me to do it in the morning. So I headed to front desk to pay my additional fees in the morning and to ask for the room to be clean while we were out for breakfast. I asked him for a senior discount since the other 2 adults were my mother and aunt.  He said they don't do those there (even though my aunt had said that it's a federal law). But I wasn't there to argue, so I payed the extra $80 for my 2 kids.  Then when I brought up the cleanliness of the room, he completely denied it and basically called me a liar. He said that the rooms are cleaned every day, and that I had one of the best rooms. I told him that I could go show him, and he said to show him. He abruptly walked over, telling me to hurry up because he was pressed on time.  When we showed him he denied it and kept saying that it was all very cleaned. He had the maid follow us in to back him up. When my mother showed him the broken handle on the frying pan, he kept asking what was wrong with it, when my mother couldn't even hold the pan straight because the handle kept twisting. I proceeded upstairs to show the maid the duvets and asked her if they ever wash the duvets. She admitted to me that they never wash the duvets. I was appalled. I then went back downstairs and noticed how rude that man was treating my mother that I decided to leave. When I told him that we did not have to put up with that, he sarcastically said that where could we go find a nice hotel like his for that price. I told him that they were plenty of other hotels in Boquete. We grabbed our stuff and walked out. As we were leaving, he said to us, "I would like to see how clean your house is." My son told him that cleaner than this. I told that man that I have never in my life ever been treated like that and that he needs to learn some customer service. He said that that's the best customer service there is. We left and booked somewhere else. 

DISGUSTING! RUDE! WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER!!!

This is a beautiful, peaceful place. Tastefully decorated with beautiful gardens. We checked out the rooms but basically went for lunch. The food is fantastic! The owner is so gracious and friendly. This is a must if you are going to visit Boquete. We have lived in this area for 15 years and am so glad we stopped!

Beautiful place!

arrived late and jose was very very accomodating.  he tried to help us get in to town but on 23rd december there weren't many free taxis. in the end he helped us order chinese 'take out' from nearby.  the outer areas are absolutely charming with so much wonderful art work and collectables that Jose has collected over decades.  the birds are a nice touch.  There is a very convenient grocery store just across the highway which saved us wherein having breakfast was concerned, as it wasn't offered.  the next morning, transportation to Boquete was also 'spotty' and not cheap ($4) so w/o a car, this wasn't an option for our second night in the area.  
In order to have the King bed we were upstairs, requiring negotiating steps at night.  There is, however, a queen on the bathroom level.  The sheets should probably be replaced w/ ones that weren't 'pilled' , as this is the first i've encountered some that were scratchy because of this.  If i had a family and a car, and wanted to cook at the premise, this would have been a lovely place for several days.

Lovely accommodation for a larger group with transportation.  Delightful host

I started my stay in Cabanas Villa San Miguel on July 28 and within 2 days I had a medical emergency. Jose (the proprietor) called for transportation and acted as an interpreter to help me get medical care. Jose has treated me like family throughout our stay. The grounds are beautiful with pieces from many different countries. We picked a lime off one of his trees and used to flavor the water. In sum, Jose was an amazing host and I would definitely stay here again

One of the nicest rental experiences I have had at a rental

Absolutely loved staying here, you think that you're in a 200 year old hacienda but it's not. The construction, finish and decorating and very "Spanish traditional" with lots of antiques.  The flowers and gardens are abundant and beautiful. Beware of Pepe the parrot as he'll try to steal your wife/girlfriend and then he'll try to bite you (lol). Jose the owner is very nice , friendly and always quick to help. We stayed here for ten nights in February and loved it. There are three bedrooms but only one bathroom per unit. It could stand a few more kitchen utensils for those that wnat to cook their own meals. There's a small grocery store directly across the street and a couple of decent restaruants within a 15-20 minute walk. It'll cost you between 60 cents and a dollar for a cab ride into downtown Boquete and cabs or buses are easy to get.

Quaint and Charming

Very very pleased with our stay at villa San Miguel, above all the host Jose made our family so comfortable, anything he can assist with he does , anything from booking trips , extra blankets , laundry , holding his pet parrots , and even a cake for my daughters birthday .... in my opinion if your not completely happy with your stay here , you simply cannot be happy anywhere . The rooms are large with beautiful decore . Beds are new with good sheets and blankets. Kitchens equipped with almost everything you need to feel at home .  Jose thank you ever so much for you hospitality and friendship, the only bad part is having to leave .

The owner Jose is great he couldn't do enough for us during our stay. The three bed villas are well equipped and comfortable. 
Beautiful flowers and trees are everywhere and comfortable hammock' s in front of all 6 units.

My partner and I enjoyed our two night stay at Cabañas Villa San Miguel. The owner is incredibly nice and helpful. The space is beautiful with unique decor and artwork everywhere. The common areas are nice to relax in with attractive and comfortable furniture. The main path along the doors to the individual villas is beautifully planted with colorful flowers and lush green tropical plants, along with plenty of hammocks to lounge and enjoy the space. Each villa is decorated in a slightly different style so you feel like you’re in a unique space instead of a generic hotel room. This was great for a few nights for us, we can recommend it for couples and it would also be wonderful for larger groups or families as each villa has 3 bedrooms with multiple beds. The location is great as it’s just far away enough from Boquete to be quiet and relaxing but close enough that it’s only a 5minute drive or $0.60 cab/bus ride. 

Unique & Beautiful 

I stayed at the Cabanas for almost a month and will definately go back. The three bedroom set up works well for having visitors. The atmosphere is very relaxing and mellow. The manager is responsive to your needs and very friendly. You can easily take a taxi to town (for 60 cents) and buy your own food to cook. I highly recommend this place that even has a yoga studio on site. The gardens are just gorgeous too.

Cabanas Villa San Miguel,  Boquete

We spent 3 nights at this cozy vacation rental place in Boquete. Jorge, the host, is super friendly, helpful and accommodating. He was always there to answer our questions and even offered to do our laundry. The rooms are spacious and clean and include a well equipped small kitchen. A small supermarket is just across the street - very convenient. Jorge has several beautiful parrots who live right next to the rooms and are absolutely adorable (they did not make any noises, though). 

Jorge's place is located on the road from David to Boquete. Parking is not a problem. Driving to the center of Boquete (restaurants, shops, larger supermarkets) takes 10-15 minutes, and the hiking trailheads (Hidden Waterfalls, Pipeline, Quetzeros) are a 20 to 25-minute drive away. For us, it was the perfect choice. I would highly recommend this vacation rental!
