I loved my stay at Mamallena! The atmosphere is great, location is good, and I was very comfortable. I met a lot of new friends. The common spaces in this hostel are nice and the vibes are good. On one night during my stay there was even a live band by the dock, which was super enjoyable! The beds are comfortable and dorm rooms have air conditioning. There is music in the main common spaces, but they turn it off promptly at 11:00pm so that you can sleep. In the mornings they put out coffee, tea, and pancake batter so if you would like to make your own pancakes you can. I definitely recommend Mamallena and as a solo traveler I think it's a great place to meet people!

Great Place!

Stayed here for three nights and extended our stay for two more nights. Amazing deck and lounge area. Really easy to meet people and very warm atmosphere in the hostel in general. Most staff were helpful and friendly. Great location. Free pancakes and coffee every morning. Would highly recommend Mamallenas. 

Best hostel in Bocas

I absolutely loved this hostel! Had originally only booked for one night but ended up staying four because I loved it so much! Great location, lovely staff, the deck is great and the rooms are clean, comfortable and have ac. The live music night was really fun and the hostel has an overall really good vibe! I will hopefully be back :)

Loved it!

We were looking for a nice place at the water with a shared kitchen in Bocas and found Mamallena Hostel. We loved our stay here. The kitchen has everything u need, the rooms are big, the ac works ;) and the happy hour is good as well! After breakfast u can straight go and jump into the water!

Great place to stay in Bocas

The stay at Mamallena was a very nice experience. Stayed in a dorm (room 8), which was nice and spacious. The beds are good and the AC is also good. The free pancakes for breakfast are tasty and easy to make. If you want to make anything else, there’s not that much utensils, so important to check if they have everything you need before you start. The dock is the most amazing thing, and a perfect hangout spot. The details with the swings and the lights are great! The staff could be a bit unhelpful and slightly rude sometimes, but mostly they were very nice. Alltigehter I really recommend this place!

Nice hostel!

Impressive communal area over looking the water, pool table, great bar with cold beers, huge cocktail list and a backpacker friendly happy hour (4pm-8pm). 
We stayed in a private room with ensuite for 4 nights. Nice and simple layout, clean bathroom with powerful shower, cold air con and comfy bed. Our wifi didn't seem to work in room, but was good in communal space.
Breakfast is 'cook it yourself' pancakes, kitchen is a little basic, but clean and facilities are manageable.
The attentive staff, view and swings into the water really make this place special.

I didn’t sleep at this hostel so I can’t comment on the rooms. I did stop by for a beer on the deck, and in my opinion, this is the best deck on town to chill out on. It’s not hemmed in, like the ones right downtown, and has numerous lounging and sunbathing areas. Being open on three sides, it enjoys a refreshing breeze. Even has a pool table. Beers are $2!

Gorgeous spot and really nice people. Dorm room turn off AC during the day. Private rooms with AC. My first “ocean view” room was a view of a vacant lot. It had a leak in the ceiling. 

I was moved to room 13 which had bed bugs. 

Free breakfast in am and great happy hour in pm. Great place to jump in for water sports.

The room was pretty expensive given other prices in/around Bocas and the worst we stayed in. We took a room with private bathroom and the shower didn’t work, toilet broken and staff were generally unhelpful. 

Refund was refused and I wish we could have just gotten our money back and stayed elsewhere.
