Attractive small hotel in the town with very helpful staff and nice restaurant with pleasant and peaceful gardens.  Our room was very very very small but clean and the bed comfortable with a good hot shower. Some staff were very shy in explaining things in the restaurant.
But the staff were very helpful when we wanted to move rooms due to power cut.  We cannot praise the staff enough but the rooms need a bit of investment and looking after.

Whats to say... we spent one night at the Anton Valley Hotel. It‘s not bad, but it‘s definitively not great either.
Our room was small-ish, the bathroom was tiny. There was a fridge with some minibar-list next to it but it was empty.

We had dinner and breakfast at the restaurant. The service was friendly. The food was... lets say the sandwiches seemed good and we liked the breakfast, but the grill plates we had in the evening unfortunately were not that good.

Undortunately neither the staff of the hotel nor the restaurant spoke english. I totally get that we are in a foreign country and we tried with our very limited spanish as good as we could. Anyway, i would LIKE it, if the staff at a touristic facility (like a hotel) spoke a bit more english.

As I said, not bad, but also not the best we ever experienced. For a 1 night stay: totally acceptable.

Ok...

We were not impressed with this hotel. The first room we were given overlooked a yard with a constantly barking dog tied up next to a dog carrier... we asked to be moved and we were graciously accommodated, which we appreciated. However the new room had other issues. Most of the light fixtures were non-functional, with either burned out or completely missing bulbs. The TV remote also wasn't working. The bathroom had sharp-edged decorative tile around the commode that hurt our feet, we needed to use a towel there to provide some cushioning. 

The restaurant was convenient but just OK. Dinner was pretty good but the server at breakfast had an attitude - I think we made her go to work earlier than she wanted? Beware if your Spanish is limited! Both our dinner and breakfast meals were missing items listed on the menu, when we tried to point this out to our breakfast server we were given a blank look along with a distinctly "so what?" attitude...

With the location and charm that this hotel is capable of, it wouldn't take that much to make it better. It could be really top-notch with a bit more attention! Since it seems this hotel is nearly always booked, the owners ought to put some of their profits into some much-needed improvements.

Great location but needs improvements

Anton Valley is described as a must see area of Panama, being formed from the extended crater of a long extinct volcano, but we failed to find much of interest in the area or the hotel we were staying at. 
The hotel is in the centre of El Valle and has tiny rooms, well decorated, but cramped. There are much nicer places to stay outside of the town that would have been better choices for us.
The town itself is nothing remarkable and I'm not sure the diversion from our trans-panama tour route was worth the effort

This couple of friends of ours rented and prepaid a room for a weekend. They arrived at the site at around 10pm and no matter how hard they blew the whistle (horn) no one appeared. Our friend got out of the vehicle to open the gate, luckily he grabbed it with both hands just before it came off to fall on him and crush him completely, his wife got out of the car and saw him under the huge fence and began to screaming for help, but no one came out, so she had to draw extraordinary strength to be able to remove the heavy iron structure on her husband; Once this was achieved, some employees appeared who, when asked if they have a First Aid kit, said they did not have one. They were asked about a doctor or a nurse and again said that they did not have any of that at the disposal of the hotel or its guests. All they had was gauze, alcohol, and iodine; When they applied the bandage, they had to use Scotch office tape because they did not have surgical tape either. The weekend passed without anyone approaching to see how the injured person was, the owners or managers showed their faces at no time. We do not understand how the Authorities allow such slums to operate freely and without control.

Terror nightmare at the Anton Valley hotel

The bathroom was really dirty, there was hair everywhere. The water in the shower suddenly gets really hot or cold, not comfortable at all. The room itself is fine but it could be more clean in my opinion. There’s also a lot of noise in the hallway from the restaurant and kitchen, which is located next to some of the rooms. The swimming pool is rather strange, it’s located right next to the parking lot, it’s really small and there’s no room to sit and relax. I looks more like fountain to me than a swimming pool. There’s a  sauna (kind of) as well, also located next to the parking lot.

This hotel is a joke

Reception was unfriendly, The room was a hole with little light and no comfort at all. Everything seedy and run-down. Just a few meters from the restaurant kitchen we enjoyed all the odours and smell of the cooking. Breakfast was very rudimentary. A second cup of coffe or tea only if you asked for it in the kitchen. Boiled eggs not available! I would recommend avoiding the place.
