Booked via booking we arrive at the place and the one person in the corner tells us that the hotel is closed and liquidated appriori. We find ourselves homeless a shame. Nobody warned us that the site was closed and our booking was never canceled and we couldn't even recover the advance we had given.

This hostel is reached from Isla Colón by taxi boat and leaves you in the same hostel, as being on the sea shore, they have their own shipyard.The staff of the hostel are very friendly and are always willing to help you and advise you on what to visit or where to eat.The price of the hostel is not cheap and breakfast is not included but to be on the terrace with hammocks watching the sunset while you take a beer is not priceless!

Very pleasant.

I was GRANDPAcking in Bastimentos for 4 nights and stayed all 4 of those nights in an Aircon Double Room at Bubba's for a ‘discounted’ price of US$31 / night.
Bubba’s looked the best of a bad (and expensive) bunch of options. It is built over the water with a shared deck area.
My room was upstairs in a group of 7 rooms. It had an in-room WiFi signal.
My aircon remote LCD screen was dead so I had no idea what settings it was on. Through trial and error, I found something that seemed to work and (from then on) just turned it on and off.
The room was small and ‘rustic’. But, it did have a wardrobe – which was tucked behind the ensuite door (that didn’t fit the frame and didn’t close).
The ensuite was a bit ‘tired’ with a cold-water shower.
This price included a free Breakfast. It was 2 pancakes (no more!) and tea / coffee.
It has a very small shared kitchen downstairs which people can use until 5pm. It was untidy and problematic to use. After 5pm it is used by the restaurant.
Water is switched off between 10pm and 8am – so, you can’t flush your toilet between those times.
There was a small shared balcony upstairs with a couple of hammocks and a view out over the water. Upstairs we could sit with our own drinks.
One positive is that they had a US$1 Beer Happy Hour between 6pm and 7pm which attracted a few people onto the downstairs deck to socialise.

Overpriced and run down

Zap for breakfast: almost the most prohibitive rates on the island! $4.5 for a slice of bread cut in half and jam and butter! Amazing! Cocktails are $6.5, which is still among the most expensive in the area!

The Bubbas is a great alternative for relaxed days. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The living area right by the water is great. In combination, it is not surprising that guests from other hostels came here to chill. The rooms were clean and furnished with everything necessary. Unfortunately the beds were not very comfortable. We don't know if it's just us or in general, but we could sleep. Would definitely come back. We didn't have any (the prices were quite expensive; 200m further there is a very good and cheap restaurant Roots)

Bubbas house has a great location right on the ocean and during happy hour it’s incredible. The island is friendly and the staff gave advice about the island that was really helpful. Bubbas is also a restaurant so the food smells amazing but way outside my budget but the staff told me where to find good food for cheap. Only issue would be that it is advertised to have an accessible kitchen, that is true at certain times of the day, if they are using it, you can not. 

Cool place

We had a good time at bubbas. The owner Julian is a nice guy who finds a solution for all questions. He is looking for his guests that everybody can enjoy their stay. Old bank is a nice little town with friendly people. 

Nice Hostel

Hi! Greetings from Finland.
We were staying in Jaguar hostel and wanted to eat somewhere near and decided to come to Bubbas. Me and my friend got veggie burgers with salad and fries. SO GOOD! Thank you! 

Veggie burger, yam!!!

We started with 1 night and ended up with 3 nights. This place is really nice and cozy. The rooms are simple but nice. Only thing is that due to lack of water on the island there is fix showering times. The owner is very nice and friendly helping with everything. He is as well making really good FOOD. Don't miss the burger. 

Nice place 

I stayed in this hostel for 20 days and it was just perfect! Julien the owner is super hospitable, super bedroom and comfortable mattresses! The hostel is on a pedestal with a beautiful sea view! Near all the beaches I recommend!!
