This is a nice B&B in a quiet residential area of Ancon with a fantastic host, Jacques.  The breakfasts are delicious with birds to watch while eating.  
there is a shared kitchen and refrigerator for guest use if desired.  Jacques called an Uber for us a couple of times but we enjoyed walking to dinner through the Canal Administration Building grounds and the avenues of government buildings shaded with palms (15-30) min.  We took advantage of an option where 3 nights are spent at the Dos Palmitos and two are spent on Chichime Island in the San Blas.  That was a great experience. Rustic and beautiful.  If we return to Panama, we will certainly want to stay at Dos Palmitos again.

Shaded, quiet oasis in the Canal Zone.

We are a family of four with kids 8&10.  We used Dos Palmitos as a base in Panama city when we first arrived in the country, and at the conclusion of our vacation. Our host was gracious and very helpful. He was friendly and helped us get oriented and figure out local transportation, dining options, and even assisted us with getting groceries for our trip to a VRBO.  The showers had unmatched water pressure, and the back deck was a beautiful breakfast location!

Excellent base in Panama City

Dh and I stayed for 1 night while we were on a 21 hour layover in Panama City (done on purpose as we wanted to visit the canal).  The owner is very pleasant.  He picked us up from the airport, as well as drove us to the airport ($30 each way, same charge as taxis).  He also drove us to Miraflores locks in the morning (at no cost) and advised us on how to spend our short time in Panama City.  The location is close to the locks, and close to the Old City too.  We unfortunately didn't have any more time to visit anything else.

We had the place to ourselves.  There's a large sitting area.  Our room was very basic, and we didn't have hot water in the shower, but didn't mention it, as we were just staying one night.   We washed at the sink.  There was also only 1 sheet to cover us on the bed.  Coming from Ecuador, where it was chilly, we found Panama City to be very hot, and needed the AC, so we were cool from the AC, but could have used a thin blanket.  In the end it was fine though, we dressed up for bed and warmed up enough.  The AC works very well.  Breakfast is on the back balcony.  The fruit was very nice, and our host made eggs.  The rest was ordinary.  We got to see some birds in the back yard and briefly an agouti.

I found this to be a reasonable place to stay for a night, and would stay here again.

Good Place to Stay

We planned to stay 2 nights but ended up staying 5. The location of this B&B is very nice in a resident area, away from the city noise. It was a 5 min walk to the bus stop and from there about 5 mins by bus to Albrook terminal. From there you can go anywhere in Panama. It is about 15-20 mins by bus to the Miraflores locks and about 15 mins (depends on traffic) to casco viejo or the sky scrapers district.
From the B&B we walked up the Cerro d’Ancon with great views over the city and the canal. 
Jacques was a great host who waited for us at the airport, served great breakfasts with delicious varieties of fruit and went out of his way to help us. He drove us to the train station for the train to Colon at 6:30 in the morning, including a breakfast package for on the way.
We stayed in the blue room, with double bed, fan, a/c and tv. Bathroom was clean and shower was hot. I would recommend staying here!

Great host and location!

Dos Palmitos is in a residential neighborhood near Ancon Hill Park, the canal, and Albrook Airport. We spent two nights in the blue corner room and one night in the yellow corner room. The blue room is bigger and faces the street. The yellow room is a bit quieter. Both rooms are comfortable with A/C and fans. The shower heads are great.

A delicious breakfast is served on the balcony at the rear of the house and the fresh fruit is so good. 

We enjoyed the common sitting area and having a small kitchen. We had simple lunches on the balcony a couple of days.

Jacques is a very pleasant host and we enjoyed talking with him. He drove us to Albrook for our morning flight to Bocas which we greatly appreciated. He also arranged for a taxi to take us to Tocumen airport at the end of our stay.

The walk to the top of Ancon Hill takes you through neighborhoods with houses built for higher-ranking Canal workers then up a road closed to traffic with great views of the sea, ships waiting to transit the canal, and of the city. We saw toucans, parrots and other birds. 

We walked to the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute to shop at the bookstore and we also walked to Casco Viejo, the old part of Panama City, in about 30 minutes.

Taxis are cheap. It was $3 to ride from Casco Viejo to Dos Palmitos.
