We stayed a night here with our G Adventures group. Good location close to the hot springs. Rooms and beds were fine, although the bathroom in our twin room was very small. Decor was a little odd, but a nice enough place for a 2 star hotel. Note the hotel name is actually spelt Hotel Pachakutec, rather than Pachacuteq.

Perfectly Adequate

Stayed here one night only as part of a G Adventures tour so no other choice. The room I had was on the first floor but you’ll still need to go through two flights of stairs without an elevator (not a problem for me luckily). 

The room was very tiny and had a window which faced the staircase so no real window. It felt quite dark and claustrophobic to be honest. The bathroom and shower were working fine for me although a few people on my tour had issues with water (shower had no water) and some had to move room. The bathroom gets really steamy after a shower making it hard to breathe inside the room. I had no window that I could open so i was forced to open the door instead to let some air in.

Both the bed and toilet are quite “high” as well. The plus side is: it was quiet at night after the cleaning ladies left after I opened the door and showed my presence in the hallway since they were being quite loud. But no noise issues during the night. 


Quiet but no windows

Stayed for just a single night, thankfully. Lady on reception was curt and unwelcoming.
My room was on the second floor, accessed via a maze of darkened corridors and tricky stairs. The room itself was positively claustrophobic with the window looking out onto a conrete area with no natural light.
The windowless bathroom appeared to have been refurbished, but the shower head was so damaged and useless, it was nigh impossible to get any water onto myself.
The room was dank and cold and the highlight of my stay was getting out of it!
Would I stay here again?
Not a snowball in hell's chance!


Pretty Awful

hotel pachakuteq Aguas Calientes peru: Relatively good; busy & noisy until 22.00 at night, but then quiet afterwards. Clean room. Lukewarm shower. Reception spoke some English. Relatively good breakfast.

Nice hotel

This hotel was a long walk uphill from the train station (it was likely made more so after 3 days of hiking and a late night arrival).  That being said, check in was quick and easy, the rooms were clean and quiet, and there was good luggage storage.  Showers were large and so was bathroom.   We had a room with two beds with a divider between them - interesting arrangement and made for a peaceful somewhat private rest.  For the price, a decent stay.

Clean and Quiet

I stayed in 2 hotels and this was definitely worse value. It’s located up a steep hill from the train station (not fun after 3 days trekking with luggage). The hotel is like a labyrinth and takes ages to get to the higher rooms. There are lots of stairs and no lift. Wifi didn’t work in our room, the room smelt mouldy and damp. There were no windows in our room and no fan in the bathroom. Only one powerpoint in the room which we had to share. Noise from the halls echoes up the stairs and we got lots of noise through the walls from the building next door. Biggest issue was the breakfast was not available before 5, so we got nothing before leaving for the first bus up to Machu Picchu. For the price, there are much better places to stay in town.

Not great value

Nie wieder würde ich in einem solchen Hofel schlafen. Der Schimmel sprießt auch im zweiten Raum aus der Decke. Es ist nicht nur bedenklich, hier zu schlafen, sondern gesundheitsgefährdend. Die Schleimhäute brennen und man hat das Gefühl, der Schimmelgeruch hat sich bereits in die Bettwäsche gefressen. 

I also stayed here with G Adventures. This is the most disgusting hotel I‘ve ever stayed in. 
The first room was so badly smelling like mold, That I stepped only one step inside and decided I don‘t want to die that night. 
The reaction of the reception: 
That passes after a few breaths. 

The second room smells a little bit less, it‘s possible to get in, but impossible to feel well. 
The mold grows out of the ceiling, you can see it. 
Every breaths burns in your nose. The blankets also smell like mold.

The reason I stayed here? I’ve already payed with G Adventures, 22:30 o‘clock, tired, bad reviews with the same problem. No chance to get a better room...

I will definitly complain to the Company.

Disgusting. Mold. AVOID

Stayed in the hotel while on a G Adventure tour, it was near the top of an uphill walk from the main square. That was a plus as it meant it was one of the closest hotels to the hotspringsand handy to all the restaurants down the road! Beautifully tiled decor both inside and outside, stayed in room on top floor overlooking roadway which was fun for looking down on the world!  Rooms were small with lots of furniture, warm bedding for cool night, beer and cold drinks available in lobby. Breakfast was good with fruit and granola bars we could take for later. Appreciated the wake up reminder at 4:30AM - knocked on our door for the 5AM breakfast!

Convenient location, quiet and clean

Positives - it is well located and a short walk from the town centre and train station. That's it.

We were allocated a tiny room with no window or ventilation. The room stank of damp and mould. The toilet flush was broken and so we asked for another room but we're told this was not possible. A worker came to examine the toilet and could not repair it. A room magically became available. 

Very old fashioned decor. Poor for a budget hotel.

The Positives: The location of the hotel is in the centre of Aguas Calientes with the train, bus stations, restaurants and shops easily accessible by foot. (all within 5-10 min walk). Also, the breakfast had more variety than most of the places we saw in Peru. They had fresh bananas, apples, oranges, avocados, milk and cereal, different jams and breads. By Peruvian standard, this is a lot of variety. 

The Negatives: Our room was dirty. And I mean DIRTY like with stains and thick dust in corners. The "decoration" was tacky, the pillows and towels were way old and used up. It was a small room with two single beds... but somehow they managed to put three dressers and a couch in there (literally one in front of the other). Pointless.

Then, to make matters worse, they first ran out of hot water (to be semi-expected in Peru) but then they ran out of water almost completely (well, you could get a drop or two). Forget about getting a Wi-Fi code, it didn't work. Also, the place is a fire hazard... We had no windows and access to only one stairwell (the back one - not the front one)... 

I'd definitely recommend paying extra to stay in a cleaner place.
