Lovely little basic Hostal/b & b. Clean and comfortable, decent breakfast (or packed lunch if you’re out early). Friendly owners, excellent location. Great value for money. Shower a bit chilly and sink doesn’t run if you’ve just flushed the loo lol. We had a lovely stay in a river view room listening to the rapids.

Perfect little basic Hostal/B & B

The hotel is conveniently located right as you get off the train. The rooms were clean, the staff helpful and several great restaurants are close by. The morning I headed to Machu Picchu they had a breakfast for me ready to go at 4:45 am. Not a lot of flash, but that’s not why you come to Aguas Calientes.

Small but amazing

We stayed here for a night before visiting Machu Picchu. The hotel has a good location - close to the train and bus stations. The staff were very nice, accommodating, and helpful and the accommodations were very adequate. The owners let us store our bags while we were away for the day and provided a bagged breakfast since we left so early in the morning.

One thing to note is that the address provided on Hotels.com (where we booked) was incorrect. The address on Google Maps is correct.

Good place to stay for a night

First time I am putting a review in an hostel but our 2 days stay were horrible

First a big leak of water because of the rain right in my pillow in the middle of the night, WiFi doesn’t work, owner is rude as possible (yelling to get the keys at the end, no an hello or a good morning, not willing to lend a spoon because we didn’t order in her hostel...)

We ordered 4 American breakfast but got the quantity of only one (15g of butter is not a lot for 4 person and one cup of coffee is not enough even if it supposed to be “strong”) 

At first when we entered the owner told us it was 200 for the night, and later we crossed a local who told us it could be 120 the night which we took after it...

But there is one thing good, the location ! In the center of the city.

Leak of water in my pillow, owner very rude, breakfast terrible

AC acts as a hub before and after MP. 
All we wanted was a comfortable room, working bathroom, hot shower and free wifi. Ticked all those boxes for a cheap price. Didn’t need the frills. 

Bed was comfortable enough for the two of us. Shower was good but a bit narrow. Hot water fluctuates, but with a bit of patience it comes back. I noticed when our neighbour was having a shower the stream in my shower was super weak. I waited til the neighbour was done and my shower stream was hot and fine! 

Wifi worked well while we were there. 

Got a packed breakfast to queue for the bus to MP - asked for it the day before (2 small cheese croissants, banana, energy bar and apple juice- more than sufficient for breakfast). 

Would recommend to other budget couple travellers who aren’t keen on shared hostels!

Sufficient 

Clean, River or Train View,River is beautiful & very nice to fall asleep with. Easy place, Breakfast included.(typical-juice, bread/cheese,jam,bananas-ask for coffee, also can pack extra sandwich to park, if desired). Very Helpful, when we missed our train,(due to Awe) the owner came to the station to re-negotiate our fare. Highly recommended.

Clean, Friendly, Family, Hot Water, Extremely helpful Hostal

The hotel is nice, our room faced the river so we had a great view. It was clean and comfortable.

The only thing that bothered us was that they changed the price from one night to the next one without giving reasons. They charged us 80 soles the first night, and tried to charged us 100 soles for a second night, just because. When we asked them why,  they, literally, just stared at us (we're native spanish speakers, so the language was not an issue here). We left to another hostel after that.

Nice budget hotel. Poor customer service.

Two young girls were waiting for us when we arrived with the train from Ollantaytambo. It was raining steal. They offered us an umbrella and guided us to the hotel. What a service. A small hostal, near to the station and the center, with a fantastic service. You get what you expect. The beds were perfect. Good shower.  We were ready to take the bus (just 200 m) to Machu Picchu early in the morning.  Irma prepared our breakfast at 5:20 am. Thanks for all.

We were invited to get in by the lady in the reception! Me and my boyfriend were coming from the Salkantay Trek, 4 days walking and all we wanted was a hot shower! 
They spent almost an hour trying to "fix" the hot water and when we decided to leave and find another place to stay, the owner was called! Instead of apologizing, she told that we could not leave because we had already used the shower ( can you believe that???)! She changed our room in the end... 
We wanted to take some coffee in the morning and she told us no because she had prepared a "to go snack" which we had not ordered! 
Definitely not worth it! The owner is not prepared to receive guests, not gentle at all!
