Due to the political instability in the region, we ended up staying 6 nights in Hostal Bubamara. And what a lovely stay it was! The hosts are very friendly and attentive, ready to share their knowledge of Arequipa. The hostal is situated in the heart of the historical center, in an attractive ancient house. We would stay a few nights more, if we could.

A cozy and lovely home away from home

I stayed 4 nights in private double bed room, and I really enjoyed my stay.
It’s right next to Monastery, about 7~8 minute walk to Armas plaza. Beds are real comfy and clean. Hot showers, yes of course. Wifi is on every floor, and it’s fast (At my stay, 2nd floor wifi was not working, they say their going to fix it) Everythings nice but it can be quite hard to sleep at night if you’re very sensitive to noise. There’s a road near by. Cars are quiet through the evening, but at night, they go wild! They just keep honking and people yelling... It settle down about 1 am... but I guess that’s what you expect anywhere in this city, nothing can do about it.

Close to the center, low price, nice room

Hostal Bubamara is located in the heart of old Arequipa which makes it perfect for walks around town. Access for cars in the area around Bubamara is limited which makes it feel even better - and getting a good night's sleep is an absolute given. Beds are comfortable and the rooms are certainly spacious enough. Historically, the property used to be a hostel for nuns visiting the neighbouring monastery so there's definitely a nice sense of tradition there. Accordingly, furnishings are no-frills but still very enjoyable - and the view from the top floor of the hostel around Arequipa is lovely. In terms of bang for the buck, the place is absolutely great.

The bedding and towels could use a bit of refreshing - and so could the shabby furnishings: their style is great, but most of them could do a with a bit of TLC. Also, some of the electrical plugs and sockets were not working - not a deal-breaker but something to look into.

Cheap & friendly - but also very authentic and enjoyable

The room was very spacious and spotlessly clean. The hotel is located within 0.5miles of the Place de Aramas and all major attractions. There is a lovely terrace to have breakfast outside. It is like an oasis hidden from the chaos of the road outside.

The staff are especially friendly and could not do enough for us.

Very clean, very friendly, perfectly located hotel

The rooms are clean and have nice interior. It's more like in a hotel than in a hostel. The personell is friendly and helpful. The check in times makes sense and everything worked really well. Breakfast at the beautiful terrace is included and is served during the friendly stuff. We would book that place again. Really nice! 

Best place to stay in downtown Arequipa 

Friendly staff, we were received by a very nice lady who showed us places to visit in the city on a city map she gave us. 
Our room was very big and nice. The only problem was the noise by the cars nearby, but we had a very pleasant stay. 

Great

This hostel was amazing: the room was very big, the big bed was comfy and had lots of pillows, the shower had hot water and the breakfast was nice (egg, marmelade, bread, some fruit, juice and coffee/tea). The place is located at a walking distance from the city center but the hostel itself was quiet. The staff is very friendly and willing to help as well! I can definitely recommend staying here.
