This hostel was absolutely perfect for our five day stay in Arequipa. It was close to everything. The room was very spacious and the bathroom had a hot shower. Breakfast was ok with lovely views on the rooftop terrace. The hostel also provides a laundry service which was ideal for us. Would highly recommend this place for people on a budget! 

Perfect

The staff were very friendly ( no English but she has a translator!) WiFi worked well. The beds were comfortable and bathrooms clean. They give you towels also! There is a great place to chill on the top floor and a small kitchen, (could do with being updated). The location is good although not so easy to find! The laundry service is quick and fairly cheap, and we were able to leave our bags for 3 days whilst we went trekking. 

Friendly staff

I loved this place. I have been traveling Peru for a month and this has to be the best I have stayed in so far. The only down side is its noisy because of the road. Rooms are great, beds are amazing its wonderful.

Great location

My sister stayed here two nights on our travels in Peru. We were in a double room with a private bathroom. It was by far my favorite hostel we stayed in. The rooms were large and the house had a lot of old charm, hardwood floors, ornate ceilings, large windows that opened to the street, a nice roof deck, and charming decor. The staff was helpful and it was centrally located and very affordable!

Charming

We booked in this hostel hours before arriving at Arequipa and we immediately found 2 double rooms for a good price. Language wasn't an issue eventhough not all of the staff members knows English. The man (who seems to be in charge) is very kind and helpful even if myself knows little Spanish but we got to understand each other and a smile is always a plus! :) A humble breakfast yet 5 mins walk away from the main square. The area might be noisy but the hotel has no control on it and it seems to be part of Arequipa! :)

Just right

Lovely hotel full of character. Not much English spoken but that wasn't an issue. Nice breakfast on the roof with a fantastic view - thought it would be too cold for that in late June, but it wasn't. Booked our Colca Canyon trek through the hostel, that was excellent. I saw some reviews saying the area this hotel is in is not great, but I didn't see any issue with it. Street outside quite noisy but that died down late evening.

Lovely place

Stayed here 3 nights with our family of four, and the location in town and roof top terrace were both great. Unfortunately for us, that is where it ended. Starting with our arrival and no reservation to be found, we just found the property lacked attention and care. This really could be a great property, but we felt needed a good clean, some room upgrading and engaged management who care about their guests.


Needs work

My bf and i stayed here for 5 or 6 nights in March and initially i was really happy with it, but that wore off. We were in a really dark and somewhat dingey, window-free room that had a slow, and very dim light (for memory it was room 204). I did notice a lot of the other rooms looked REALLY nice though - both privates and dorms. It also had nice communal spaces including the rooftop with volcano views and a little study nook with 2 desktops. 

Brekkie was nice but ridiculously small - ie 2 small, thin bread rolls with a thin slice of avocado and 1 slice of tomato, about enough topping to fit on half a roll. There was a teeny bit of butter and jam, and there was no milk available with the tea or coffee either. We ended up buying an avocado and a tomato to supplement the offerings, and we noticed a few guests doing the same (including supplying their own additional bread). The girl who organised brekkie was a bit of a mole, always seeming to be in a mold.

Staff were otherwise nice but spoke VERY limited english.

The shower had really low pressure and the water was either scorching or luke warm. It was very diffucult to find a happy medium. Toilet paper not replaced often enough either. O

A few minor improvements would make a BIG difference

Living in hostel for a month gives you a preety good idea about what good hostel is and this cenrtainly is one of them. the food is good, comfy beds and stable wifi. I had a room with small balcony with a view to the mountains and  beside the busy street, it was beautiful. the hostel also offers drycleaning and the staff is incredibly nice. Cleaning lady stiched leggins for my friend for free. Hostel is in a vacinity of plaza de armas and city center. I strongly recomend it.

Surprizingly good

Stayed for 4 nights in a double room with private bathroom - clean and comfortable. Very hot water in shower and good wifi in room and terrace. Breakfast was good (bread, boiled egg, cheese, tomato, avocado, olives, coffee/tea and juice) - the terrace is a nice spot to start the day with breakfast or take a break. Lots of shade as well. In a good location, a short walk from the Plaza de Armas. 

The hotel and rooms have a nice old timing feel, wooden panels along walls, old wooden floorboards. Everything is a bit old, but clean enough. 

The only major let down was that our room was never cleaned in our 4 night stay - the bin by the toilet really should be emptied daily. We had to request toilet paper at reception when we ran out. 

The hostal staff are polite and friendly enough, but don't really go out of their way to make you feel welcome or at home, compared to many other hostals. 

Would recommend for a budget stay.
