Me and my friend booked tour to Salkantay trek in Atawkama hostel. It was recommended to us as a cheapest option with reasonable service. I must say I was very much satisfied. Tour guide spoke some english, gave us interesting information about the life of incas, food was delicious and plenty. Other members of the our tour group booked through different agencies and payed 100-200USD more than us! For the same tour. During the way there were some problems with the land slides, but it is rainy season and it is mountain trek. You can’t expect you will be as safe trekking as you are watching TV.

Salkantay tour

My brother and I stayed here for cheap for a few nights whilst we attempted to acclimatise to the altitude. Relaxed spot and the main dude Edson has great English and is a super mellow guy. I liked the view down the street called calle Fierro -towards the cathedral on our walks down to the main plaza, sweet architecture around and the Viva El Peru crop sign emblazoned on the mountain in the distance was a cute vista. The beds were fine, sheets clean, pillows small but the housekeepers were total legends, looked like there were some travelling international crew volunteering there for stays (guessing). After our second night there was a bit of a reshuffle as a big group arrived to stay in the large mixed dorm room we were in. We got moved to another shared room which was waay smaller with far less room (and storage,) no shelving next to me and was an extra 7/s more a night.. (Apparently normally it’s much more for this room?) We only got told of the change when they checked the system at 10:30am (Which is usually checkout and only becasue we enquired). Was more than we had wanted to pay for that one night but we were very grateful for the readjustment and availability meaning we didn’t have to find elsewhere and could continue to shower, get ready and then rest that whole day as we were wrecked from the alt sickness which was a pretty rough time. Sadly my shower was glacial cold and the wifi didn’t work for me the entire stay (in either room.) My brother on the other hand had a shower that was piping hot lol (too hot apparently) 😂 the breakfast was amazing! Fresh huevos done your way -to order, great coffee, coca tea, fresh juice made on the spot, papaya, mango etc. cereals, bread, oatmeal, fruit, cheese and salad slices. Made for a perfect start to the day and the tours on offer were the cheapest prices we saw all around town for the same things. Great recommendation from my friend Raul, met some legends on the way and everyone was absolutely lovely. Would stay again and we would be more organised next time! Chill spot north west of San Pedro markets

All the hostel staff are very helpful and friendly. There are some tours you can book through the hostel that look really cheap, unfortunately we’d already booked our tours before arriving or else we definitely would’ve considered booking via the hostel. Breakfast is great - fruit, cereal, eggs, bread and the hostel itself is very pretty, like a colonial courtyard. It can get very cold at night but we had lots of blankets on our comfy beds so we slept fine. It can be quite cold in the bathroom as it is pretty exposed but once the hot water is flowing in the shower there’s no problems. The floorboards in the rooms are quite noisy which can be a pain when sharing a dorm when trying to creep around late/early without waking people - appreciate this can be a result of the colonial character of the hostel though. The vibe and atmosphere is pretty quiet but we chatted to fellow guests during breakfast and in the TV room when watching Spanish dubbed Disney on a hangover :) Good value for money - nice as a quieter hostel to chill out after long treks/following wild parties in town!

Good value, good breakfast, a bit cold and creaky

Easily one of the best hostels in Cusco! I stayed here for a few weeks and everyday was comfortable. Best hostel breakfast in South America and even better people who work there! Would definitely stay again.

EL MEJOR

We arrived at this Hostel on the recommendation of a friend looking for information for some tours.Since we arrived, we received a very good reception, were offered a rich mate and were very willing to give us the information we needed.The place has a very nice garden in the center and the rooms are very comfortable so we decided to stay there.The breakfast is very good and complete, good wifi, hot showers, equipped kitchen, living room or entertainment with games, computers, everything for a cozy stay.In relation to the tours, we were very much informed about the activities and schedules to be carried out, the guys showed you videos and you enjoyed the experience in detail, including everything you enjoyed and everything you exchanged during the trip, and you were also convinced that the cost of living was equal to the price of living, computers, everything for a comfortable stay.Thanks for the tours, we were much more informed about the activities and schedules to be carried out, the guys showed you videos and you enjoyed the experience in detail, and you were able to get to know everything, including the extras and everything you would like to experience during the trip, and you were

An incredible experience!

Their tours and super disorganised, they 'forgot' to pick us up for the Rainbow Mountain tour, so we had to go the next day. The tour company they sent us to was shocking, no communication, and they stole items (headphones) left on the bus during the tour. Avoid at all costs!

Atawkama hostel is a very family-friendly place with very good atmosphere the lady eulo is very friendly like the rest of the staff. it has a very beautiful patio with internet access is excellent throughout the hostel security cameras and good travel agency.

The best 

I felt like I was in a home away from home. The kitchen has a wide variety of pots and pans. The beds and bedrooms were warm and clean. The breakfast is amazing and different every day! I booked the Salkantay and Rainbow mountain tours with them for a cheaper price than in other places and the amenities surprised me with how good they were. Everything promised on the booking website is provided. I would recommend this hostel to family and friends.

They offer a very good breakfast with fried eggs, juices, fruit salad, chocolate, etc. In addition to allowing you to use their well-equipped kitchen, the tours of their travel agency are excellent, the prices are very competitive, I recommend them.
