Great hostel, Riccardo an excellent manager great guy, Carlos too. Lots of treks and climbs go from here, staff can organise it all. Good vibe between peep’s and friendly informal feel to the place. Luce does great breakfasts - enjoyable stay.

Hostel Alpes in Huaraz

I’m not really a big fan of hostels. If I had my way I’d find or dig a nice tent platform up in the mountains and stay there. But in a place like Huaraz for two gringas that’s not really the safest option.

That said, I LOVED ALPES HUARAZ! The people staying there were by far much nicer and friendlier than any hostel we stayed at in Cusco or Lima. For me that’s everything, and the awesome people like Carlos who work here are incredible. 

My friend and I stayed in a private room w private bathroom for 3 nights. (Not that much extra for short term + two people)

Here are some more highlights from my stay.

0. Filtered water for free!!!!!!
1. People: super chill, friendly hikers, everyone wants to explore and adventure and were super unpretentious. 
2. Tours: the tours we did to Churup (via collectivo as recommended by staff) and Pastoruri Glacier were super fun. Not like a tour full of a bunch of other Europeans etc. but like a grassroots semi-ridiculous incredibly authentic tour w a bunch of nice Peruvian people and families. 
3. Shower: incredibly hot. Incredibly high water pressure. Towels provided. 
4. Bed: incredibly comfy
5. Wi-Fi was fine for answering emails and looking up treks. You’re in flipping Huaraz Peru don’t expect the same Wi-Fi as at home.

I hate hostels. I LOVED ALPES HOSTAL HUARAZ

Great rooms, because there are good beds and it's dark inside the room at night. It might be a bit loud at the first floor because of the common area, but asking nicely to be quiet will help. 

Staff is really helpful 24/7 and the kitchen is nice and big. However the pots and pans might need an upgrade, some are super black or old, so the coating is gone, which makes it dangerous for your health. 

The tours are nice and kind of cheap, not very nice that they changed the prices while I was there and when I wanted to book they said to wait for the day before the tour and suddenly the prices are higher.

Good for a hostel

Really nice hostel!! Easy to meet people and they organise really good tours! Really liked my stay here! Recommend! The rooms are nice and they give you big blankets so you are nice and warm during the night!

Perfect!

The staff at the reception were very helpful with booking all our treks and giving general advice and recommendations. The beds are really comfy and the rooms are always cleans. Also the outside area is very social and easy to meet other travellers.

Great stay

Nice hostel with lovely staff, we were upgraded to a private room for no extra cost when we arrived, booked an amazing tour to laguna 69 through the reception which was really easy to do, big kitchen available to use. Really nice terrance with a view of the sunset over Huaraz. Only thing was the hot water was a bit temperamental but other than that a great stay - would recommend!

Nice, relaxed hostel in good location

Social, decent place, good information on tours and treks, lots of other people doing the same thing. Free coffee and teas throughout the day. Kitchen included, hot showers nice outside spaces. Would reccomend if you are visiting huaraz.

The hostel is super well located, close to the center of Huaraz (only a short drive up which is fast). The staff is very receptive and welcoming, we were able to check in in in advance by room availability. We booked tours by their indication (PastorRuri + Laguna Paron) and they were very good. They also authorized the use of the after-checkout hygiene services. We booked a private room for 2 people who were located on the ground floor is near the stairs. The acoustics were not so good and we heard the flow of people through the bathroom and when people were released through the noise of the gate during the night. The bathroom had hot water but the mattress and drawers could be more comfortable.

Friendly team and good location in Huaraz

I went on Holy Week with my sister... there was no attention, such as changing towels, cleaning the room... that was the worst lodging I've ever attended... and the treatment of foreigners was the same.

NO RECOMMENDABLE..PURPOSE attention to detail.

When we arrived at the hotel a group of about 10 people entered the rooms and it was not what we had booked The manager and the hotel owner were very despotic, arrogant, screaming, offended, didn't want to solve the problem and much less return the money.
