This property is legitimately riddled with mould. Our room was so bad we couldn't handle the stench and everything felt damp. We had to leave the window open overnight just to breathe as there were no available rooms to swap into. When we checked in they'd just cleaned and the strong smell of chemicals conviniently covered the mould stench until we returned too late at night do anything. Lots of mould was also visible in shared bathrooms and  hallways so it's unlikely to just be one room affected. Don't risk your health, just stay elsewhere.

RIDDLED WITH BLACK MOULD STAY AWAY

We feel bad even writing this review as the staff were so nice. However this was the worst place we stayed on our entire month-long trip. The room was damp and dirty and the shared bathroom wasn’t particularly clean either. Towels provided looked about 20 years old so we used our own. We were also cold at night, not enough blankets were provided. Breakfast was decent and the location was ok, about 20 minutes walk into the centre. 

Great staff but damp and dirty.

Recently stayed at Marqay for 3 nights. 

Positives:
- exceptional staff, very friendly and always available 
- very quiet at night
- breakfast was ample
- security of property
- always happy to call taxis for you whenever you needed 
- very good price 

Negatives:
- location: it is a bit further from all the restaurants and centre of miraflores (wish we had properly researched that before booking)
- the pillows and bed are very very firm (I had a sore neck in the morning)
- room: the sheets felt damp and there was very little ventilation and natural light in our room
- taxi used for airport transfer was very old and run down

Other notes:
- someone has to physically unlock the door each time you come back which I appreciated for security purposes but sometimes it took a few minutes for someone to come and let us in which was a bit annoying especially when it was late and dark outside had a sore neck in the morning)
- our room was not cleaned daily (not a huge issue for us but it might be for some people) 

Ok for a short stay

What we loved the most about the hostel was the staff, who treated us incredibly nicely even as we arrived closed to 1 am. The process was very simple, the room was clean and comfortable, and the hotel is located in a great area of Miraflores within walking distance to anything you might need during your trip, as well as great restaurants. The one thing I might have to say is that it's not really a place for staying and hanging out as some hostels might be, it is a bit lacking in this department.

Clean, comfortable hostel

Great staff, clean, safe and great for value. What I disliked was the lack of positive atmosphere for solo travelers. One of the employees spoke perfect english and was very helpful in giving me what I needed. Shared bathroom.
