We spent one night in Insights Hostel after a long flight from Paris, and had a perfect recovery first night in Lima. The place is close to the airport which is really convenient, and there is a supermarket just at the corner. The room was nice and clean, and the hostel very cosy with a little patio where you can relax. Harold was the best host, he made sure we had everything we needed and helped us to get to the bus station and gave us very helpfull information about how to get our bus tickets to our next destination. He also has the cutest dog :) breakfast was good too. Merci Harold!

Perfect stay upon arrival in Lima

We booked one night here either side of flights to Iquitos. The hostel is located about 10-15 minutes drive from the airport and they arrange a reliable transfer service for $10 (at any hour to either bus station or airport) which when you're getting in late to Lima airport is worth it. The hostel itself is fairly basic but does a good job as a stopover. Although the area isn't very touristy and is notoriously not very safe, we felt safe in the hostel and wandered to the supermarket a couple of minutes away with no problems. Wouldn't have left the hostel at night. Some rooms in need of a slight facelift and the wifi can be temperamental. If you need somewhere to stay before or after a flight and you're planning on moving on pretty swiftly, insights is perfect.


Good for airport stopover

If you are looking for a clean, inexpensive place to stay in Lima, Insights is a good option. Nothing fancy but totally worth the price. The hostel is located about 15 minutes from the airport, which makes it an easy place to stay if you have a long layover. I felt safe and comfortable in the neighborhood. The neighborhood has a few great food trucks: one with vegan options and another that Harold owns (the owner of Insights).

Harold is very reliable. On my way back to the U.S. I had a long layover in Lima again and he picked me up from the airport and drive me around Lima all day long for a reasonable price. He is super easy to talk to and really nice.

Great Service

We stayed a few nights as we waited for flights from Lima to Cuzco to be organised.
The hostel is pleasant enough, clean rooms and with clean functioning bathrooms. Everything in our room looked new.
The beds were comfortable and we got a good nights sleep.
We had some troubles with the Wi-Fi, but the owners were happy to create a hot spot for us so we could organise our flights.
Our room didn't have any air-conditioning, so it was a little stuffy, but we did have a fan in the room so it wasn't too bad.
The hostel offers airport pickup, but if you are catching a taxi from outside the airport complex it will cost about 20 soles. (the hostel advised it should cost about 15 but even with some stubborn bargaining we couldn't get this price).
We have been told by several Peruvians that this area is not very safe and they had personal accounts of people trying to get into their car while stopped at traffic lights.
Having said this, we found that the hostel felt very safe, and we walked around at night with no problems. (we are experienced travelers, never took any valuables out with us)
About a 10 minute walk from the hostel is a new shopping center with some good restaurants, and some nice shopping.
Less than a 5 minute walk from the hostel is Plaza Vea where you can buy groceries and beer.

Good if transferring through Lima

Not the biggest hostel, it looked like it only had a few rooms, but the room we stayed in was perfect. It had a big bed, nice bathroom and lots of room for our things. 

Neighborhood is nice. Just around the corner is a great sandwhich stand which had some of the best sandwhiches in Peru.

The journey to/from the airport is less than 20min. Great place for in between long layovers.
