When we go to Ollyantaytambo, the place wasn't even in business any more. We had to rush around looking for someplace safe to sleep for 4 nights! What a huge letdown!! I was not a happy person, let me tell you!

Not there!

I received a room overlooking the street and could immediately tell that it would be noisy.  When I requested another room, I was essentially told that you get what you get.  The cramped room had three single beds and almost no other furnishings.  I placed luggage between the two beds that weren't being used and the only other option would be to store it under the bed.  There was a table that had a bulky non-functional TV on it.  The table and/or TV should be gotten rid of to create more space.  The bathroom was functional although the plastic garbage bag quality shower curtain had holes in it.  There was hot water in the shower (when the water wasn't off) although it had a low flow which is common in Peru.

The first night had only road noise but it is loud and only gets quiet from around 11 PM to 5 AM.  Note that the hallway light brightens the room all night through a frosted glass window.  The second night had a baby crying most of the night.  When I got up early for my Machu PIcchu.trip, there was no water at all - hot or cold.  The third night there was a sleepover party for kids in two rooms that started at around midnight and was very noisy for a few hours.  At a minimum, the owner knew of and approved of this party and the kids were obviously local.  One of her kids is the same age as the partiers so I suspect the party was for him.  So it would seem she has no regards for her paying guests.

This is, by far, the worst place that I have ever stayed at.  I gave it poor rating for value because, although it was cheap, I wouldn't stay here again even if it was free.  I am very surprised this place has gotten fairly good reviews here and elsewhere. The only positive comment is that the WiFi was surprisingly good.

By the way, you have this property listed twice.  One listing is Hostal Fortaleza Inn and the other listing is Fortaleza Inn.  It's definitely the same property so I recommend combining the two listings.

Very noisy place in a quiet town

I really loved this place ! Alicia is really nice and will make her best so you could have the best stay ! She gave me wise advices about the city and helped me to organise the rest of my trip to Machu Picchu (and spare me a lot of troubles finding the good buses...). The breakfast is nice (bread + eggs + coca tee and fresh juice !), there is hot water and the place is very clean ! Definately worth it, thanks again Alicia :)

Great place with a warm welcome !

Friendly staff, Alicia and her husband are warm and willing to do what
they can to make your visit a great one. When I showed up with a
terrible case of travel sickness Alicia put me to bed with coca tea.
Alicia is a lifelong resident of Ollantaytambo and a wealth of knowledge. She arranged local motortaxi rides, taxis and her husband Miguel even took us on a day trip to Monay and Salineras. And knowing about my travel sickness he made sure to drive conservatively.
Free breakfast comes with rolls, butter and jam, tea or coffee, scrambled eggs and fresh squeezed juice. 
We liked La Fortaleza Inn so much we canceled another place and stayed on here, 8 days total.
