Amazing time at Wasai Tambopata Lodge. Beautiful room, great food (thanks Thelma) and service (Dacha), and our excellent guide Jungle Paul showing the wildlife by day and night. Thanks for a great stay in this lovely lodge in a tropical wilderness.

Wasai Tambopata Lodge

If you can’t tolerate being in 90 degree (F) 99% humidity weather 24 hours a day, stay at Wasai hotel in town. Rooms have AC and hot water. Few biting insects manage to sneak in when you open the door. There’s electricity and internet access 24/7 , the restaurant has most things on the menu, but most importantly, staff is fabulous throughout and the tours arranged by the hotel are SUPERB.  We are past the age of “camping” - even at a lodge, but we had a truly rich Amazon Basin experience AND got to know the beautiful people of Puerto Maldonado  during our stay.

Amazon Bucket List Trip

We had a truly amazing time here and highly recommend a visit. Our guide Yair was exceptional - highly knowledgeable about the plants, trees, insects, birds, and animals we saw, and he went out of his way to make sure we were comfortable and enjoying ourselves at all times. He really made the experience special, and we were very sad to say goodbye to him in the end.
Special compliments to the chef - the food was fantastic, showcasing many native fruits and vegetables we had not seen anywhere else in Peru. I really did not expect such a high standard of cuisine at a budget lodge like this, but everything was delicious and presented in 5-star style. When my mother was feeling ill, they provided a tasty soup instead of the regular rich meal.
The other staff, drivers, boat captain, and guides were also very friendly and helpful.
The accommodation is basic, with no electricity outlets in the chalet (charge your phones and devices at the main lodge) and only electricity at certain times of the day. No signal anywhere except at the main lodge where there is WiFi at certain times. This suited us fine, though, because the whole joy of  being in the jungle is to watch and listen, not look at a phone screen. Our chalet only had cold water in the shower, but other chalets appear to have hot water available, so it may have been because we went with the low budget option. 
All in all, we had an unforgettable and rejuvenating time.

The experience of a lifetime

We had an amazing time at the Wasai Lodge! Our arrival at the lodge was incredible, taking a boat down the Tambopata River. The main lodge was very nice, clean with cool drinks available, good quality wifi and a splendid view of the river. The manager (Alfredo) and the staff were very welcoming and the food was delicious. Our guide, Paul was amazing. He was very kind, knowledgeable and fun. He took us on exciting and adventurous jungle walks where he taught us so many interesting things about the ecosystem. We went bird watching and saw many beautiful macaws and parrots. Overall, it was a great experience and I would highly recommend to anyone traveling to Peru.

Wonderful experience with Wasai Tambopata!

Wasai is an incredible company that organise tours in the Amazon. We did the 4N 5D complete Amazon tour and it was amazing. The guide Jay was nice and very professional and the food was incredible 3 course meals each day. We also did an Ayahuasca ceremony with Wasai after our tour and it was one of the best experiences of our lives. Overall it was an incredible 6 days in the Amazon with the highlight being Lake Sandoval

Incredible Amazon experience

Really a paradise. The lodge is lost in the jungle and has a unique atmosphere that makes your stay unforgettable. In the activities (walks at day or nights in the jungle,  macaw lick, cayman watching with the boat) we saw Lots of animals and lived the forest. Amazing cuisine, plates and juices. Very comfortable rooms, kind and available staff. A must do in your life!

Taste of Amazonia

We had an amazing, unique, once in a lifetime experience here. We stayed for 3 nights and 4 days. The food served at the Lodge is incredible. Everyone is friendly and welcoming.  The best part of the experience was our guide, Julio, who guided us on all our  activities throughout our stay. Julio grew up in the Amazon jungle and his stories gave us a very unique perspective to life in the Amazon. His English was great and he was very knowledgeable about the flora, fauna, wildlife and life in the Amazon jungle. He took us on treks through the jungle, kayaking and swimming in the river, nighttime wildlife spotting boat rides, and macaw watching. I would highly recommend staying at Wasai Lodge. 

Once in a lifetime,  amazing experience 

Great staff, great food, great guide; Friendly, accommodating and comfortable rooms for my son and myself. Incredible location. My head was was more than full with so many creature sightings—all of it gave an incredible impression of the jungle. I would love to go back.

A wonderful place

Wasai Lodge completely exceeded our expectations on every level. The staff were so kind and friendly, the rooms were fabulous right on the river with very comfortable beds. Food was amazing with a huge amount of variety. Our guide, Efrain, was so knowledgeable, engaging, funny and made our trip even more fantastic - he was born to be an Amazon tour guide!! Clem who runs the lodge was so friendly and helpful throughout our stay and was always on hand to answer questions. We felt very safe during our stay. This is an amazing lodge and would highly recommend it!

Amazing Family Trip to Wasai Lodge

We had the most amazing time with Jungle Paul and it was absolutely a once in a lifetime experience. The jungle was unforgetable and Paul did such a great job spotting incredible animals, he was able to recognize them by their calls so that we could spot them before they scurried away!

The lodge was extremely comfortable and we had a delicious 3 course meal each night. All of the staff did a great job making us feel comfortabe and making it a fantastic experience.
