There is no reason to travel further up river when you can stay at Posada Amazonas. The private communal reserve of the Ese Eja Native Community of Infierno enabled us to feel that our stay would impact the local community. Our room has one wall open to the forest, rainfall shower as be mosquito netted beds. The food was great and they had refillable water stations. We went Piranha fishing (catch and release) at Oxbow lake - the trip highlight. Pierina my trip coordinator was great - highly communicative and flexible when we had travel issues arriving to Peru. Oscar our guide was so knowledgeable about the plants and animals in the forest and he could spot a monkey while on a mountain bike! 4 days/3 nights is plenty of time to get the full experience. We saw macaws, giant river otters, parrots, howler monkeys, spider monkeys, tarantulas and so much more.

Wonderful unique eco lodge with excellent guides

This visit was the last of the highlights of a tour of Peru and the most surprising. The staff looks after their guests with great friendliness and great commitment. The lodge and accommodations are sparkling clean and comfortable. The food is very plentiful and very tasty. On the excursions, all small expeditions, thanks to our guide Carmen, we learned a lot about the rainforest, its biotope and about the private communal reserve of the Ese Eja Native Community of Infierno. Thanks to their knowledge and expertise, we saw animals and plants that we otherwise would not have discovered or overlooked. This stay is always a recommendation. Thanks again to everyone!

Great experience

Our family has been to jungles and jungle reports before, and Posada Amazonas truly stood out.  The lodge itself was magical and even a bit thrilling. Sleeping in a room where the wall facing the jungle doesn't exist. It was like being outside in a tent but the luxury of hot water and working toilets 10 feet away. 

Getting to the resort on the long boats was a wonderful addition to the overall experience. 

Overall the staff was great. Our guide, who was assigned to us and a few other families, was fantastic. The only part of the staff that was less than stellar was the food service, particularly the bartender. It was rarely clear when we would eat (specifically) or when or if the bar would serve drinks.

Our favorite part of this trip was the wildlife. Fishing for Piranhas, seeing  inch-long ants, watching dozens of parrots / macaws, etc, etc, up close was more exciting and and engaging than we had expected. The guide made all the difference. Note that one of my sons is very uncomfortable around insects--the guide was fantastic making my son comfortable and even excited. It was actually transformative for him.

I can easily recommend Posada Amazonas to anyone who wants to visit the Amazon jungle.

Wasn't sure what to expect but we absolutely loved this place

It was definitely a 6 not a 5 . We loved everything about Posados Amazonas. From the minute we arrived at airport until we arrived at lodge The staff, the guides were extremely friendly as well as knowledgeable .  They made us feel extremely welcome and provided the ultimate way to explore the rainforest . No detail was left out.   A jam packed schedule sunrises , fishing for pirhuanas, parrot watching , night walks to sunset cruise.  Love our guide Freet and bartender Brian as well as Arturo manager. Great massage at end of day, too .

From the moment we landed in Puerto Maldonado and was greeted by our guide Frette, the experience was seamless and great!  We did have to wait a while at the main lodge in Puerto Maldonado for some other guests who were on different flights, but it was comfortable enough.

The trip to the lodge was not the most comfortable, but it was worth it once we were on the river and saw wildlife including Cabybara and Macaws.  The lodge was much better than I expected, but remember this is all outdoors with no AC. I recommend brining a battery operated personal fan to help you through the hot spurts (the generator is only on at certain times).

The lodge activities happen either very early in the morning or a little later in the afternoon/evening, so expect a lot of downtime during the day.  I wish the lodge had more games and activities to fill in the time, but i recommend bringing your own games or some good books to pass the time.

We saw amazing wildlife and our guide Frette was full of such great information.  The staff is great and the grounds are well kept.  It is outside, so you will have bugs and critters in your hut, but this is part of the charm.  

If you can handle extreme humidity and heat, I would highly recommend this experience.  I would recommend participating in all of the activities that are offered, especially the sunrise and sunset activities.  I would also recommend requesting a hut that is farther away from the social gathering areas because the guests could be loud.  The food was really good and they were able to accommodate my food restrictions.  If you are thinking about booking, do it!

Amazing way to experience Peru's Amazon!

After reading other reviews we are wondering if they stayed were we did ?

Our room 30 was lovely but at the end of a block and was only serviced once . We had to ask for fresh towels as ours were damp 
 
Our last day it rained very heavy from late the night before and as it was windy we had to more beds as the wind was blowing rain onto to side of the bed. Next morning we tried in vain to get dry towels 

The reviews that show food choice did not happen while we stayed ( just leaving today Sept30)

There was no food choices ,food was warm at best ,not at all good .Deserts were 
laid out and flies over them 

Breakfast consisted of a tinned ham (spam like ) a bitter cheese, cold eggs and if we were lucky some bread 

The place mats at our table were dirty and never changed 

Our guide Oscar was amazing and really knew his stuff 

Our saviour was Brian the bar man who not only knew how the make Expresso Martini but knew how to get us a dry towel 

I accept this place is in the Amazon but come on you could do better

Not as good as the reviews suggest

Everything was seamless, from the airport transfer to the meals and the tours. The food was delicious and very sophisticated considering we were very far from any towns. The lodge is beautiful and very relaxing. The open wall onto the rainforest is very special and we did not get any bites in the lodge. The excursions were amazing, we saw so many animals and the surrounding area is so beautiful. The staff are very warm and friendly. Our guide Oscar knew everything and was excellent.

Magical place to stay

If you’re in any doubt, you needn’t worry! The staff here are friendly, polite, and laid back, but at the same time the experience was slick, efficient and generally above and beyond any of our expectations. 

The lodge itself is stunning, clean, comfortable with electricity, wifi, hot water and delicious (and plentiful!) food, coffee, etc. 

Our guide Oscar was such a hero. We saw so much in such a short space of time, caiman, river otters, piranhas, monkeys, macaws, and so much more. There wasn’t a question he couldn’t answer and more importantly a lovely guy and great company. 

We thought this would be a small side trip before Machu Pichu (our main event!) but to be honest I can’t imagine anything can beat this place.

We enjoyed the Amazon: observation above the canopy, along the river and in the jungle.

The discovery of the Amazon

This was possibly our favourite experience of our whole trip to Peru! The hotel is beautiful and incredibly well equipped despite being completely immersed in the jungle. The meals are delicious with plenty of options but the best part is the guided excursions - thank you so much to Hans and Christian. They were so knowledgeable, friendly, kind and great to talk to with - we had such a great time and learned so much about the environment, the animals (capybaras, monkeys, macaws, piranhas etc.) and the local community. We felt very lucky that they were able to share this amazing place with us, if only for a few days. We stayed for 2 nights but we would have wanted to stay for at least 3-4 nights to see as much wildlife as possible.  Thank you guys, Adam & Lilia

P.S. - we had no problems with mosquitos, surprisingly!
