I checked in last june 20th 2015...
The ambiance was creepy... They dont have a front desk manager or even the owner didnt welcome us... They greeted us like were just neighbors...
So far... Feels like my house...
Then tha bad part...
*The shower heater dont work...
*The water... Is somekind of yellowish because it came from the sea...
So we needed to buy filters for sa faucet... 
*The ac isnt that cold... And water keeps dripping from it so once in a while i need to ckean the floors with a rug...
I dont know but they dont have a maintainance personnel for that... 
*cockroaches... I think my whole stay in this lodge.. I killed almost 10.. But there are more... Beware...
*the kitchen i filthy... 
*slow wifi..

Its noy that great but thanks to my wife i still managed to enjoyed the stay...

The location is great but the place is rundown. The staff and owner are accommodating and friendly.

PROS: Location and price. It was really cheap and a short walk to the boats, market, and restaurants.

CONS: There was a cockroach in our room when we checked in and the blankets were thin and dirty. Room feels cramp and need more cleaning.

If you're on a right budget and not staying for long, this place is fine. If you add 100-200 pesos more per night, there are alternatives.


Cheap but there are alternatives

The room is simple, but you can live in it. There was even a TV and a hot shower. The big drawback is that the rooms of the hotel go out to a very busy square (market) where from early morning until late evening there is a lot of noise. They are very loud. They are screaming, signaling, listening to music. So you need to sleep for those few hours until everyone is apart. For 4 nights the underwear was never changed. The conditions are not for rest, but stops for 1-2 nights. However, it is inexpensive and located near the dock.

The hotel is very well located, the prices are very affordable 1000 to 1200 php per night for a double room or twin bed with air conditioning, a little noise in the morning, but hard to do without when the hotel is on the main square of the city, which allows you to enjoy the small local shops and the market located just next door. The manager is very friendly and will do his best to meet your expectations.

Don't wait and be nice

We stumbled upon Oriental lodging house by accident since Momita's House was fully booked on our second night in Coron.

LOCATION
If there is one thing great about this place it would be the location. It is located right across the town plaza, a few steps from the local wet market, a few steps away from the dock for island hopping and a few steps away from the National Road (main road) where all the restaurants are. It is alsa near the drug store, several convenience stores, the St. Augustine Church and souvenir shops.  You can get a tricycle a few steps from the front of the Oriental Lodging House.

PRICE
We got the Executive Room at Php1100 or Php550 per head for 2 persons. Since the rooms are right on top of some stores and eateries it can get a bit noisy at night. If you're not a light sleeper the noise won't bother you at all. The room has airconditioning, one electric fan, one queen sized bed, 2 pillows, 2 towels, a small table with 2 chairs, a dresser, an open cabinet where you can hang your clothes and place your things. You can request for extra hangers for free. The private bathroom is pretty basic with a shower, a pail and bucket for water. The bathroom is pretty small with no partition between the bath area, toilet and sink. The give free soaps and shampoo in a sachet but don't expect good branded ones. I still recommend bringing your own toiletries.

FOOD
The Oriental offers affordable meals though I have never tried them so I can't give you my review. If you are a budget traveler, you can request for hot water for your coffee or cup noodles. You can also buy really cheap street food right outside the hotel if you are adventurous.

FREE WIFI
The Oriental has an airconditioned internet cafe on the first floor and they offer free wifi to all their guests. Internet is Php50 per hour. 

OTHER SERVICES
They also offer laundry service for Php60 per kilo. Massage is Php300 per hour. The can also arrange tours and a trip to El Nido for their guests.

Oriental Lodging House right in the heart of Coron Town

The place is strategically located in the heart of Coron town proper where everything is very much accessible by walking. The Port area is just less than 5 minutes walk and there is a tricycle lane just outside the lodging place. There are a lot of stores nearby where you can buy food or water for drinking. The good restaurants can also be reached walking-distance (Sea-dive resort / Centro Coron / Kawayanan Grill / Bistro Coron).

The room was very clean, it provided with basic amenities like towel, soap and tissue. Only that the air-condition unit of our room was a bit low. Oftentimes, our room would still feel very warm eventhough aircon unit has been set to high already. I think it needs some cleaning and freon recharge. 

There was NO hot water also in our bathroom... Also, no water in the sink but leakage found under the sink eventhough we can't use the sink. I hope they will also provide more hangers for us to use to hang our clothes to dry. 

Our room door was a bit difficult to open but we were assured of its safety because most of the time we were out for island tours, our stuff was still intact. 

The lodging place offers free wifi service that can reach all the way to our room, a plus point for consideration. Overall, its still ok to consider staying in this lodging place when considering tight budget.
