This hostel really offers value for money! They have a homey feel, my favorite spot is the lounge where you could netflix while chilling! Their wifi is fast as well! The rooms are well cleaned and maintained. I'm giving it a 4 since it's a lil bit far from the city center and the common toilet has plumbing issues, the common bathrooms are also covered with shower curtains only in which someone could take a peek on you if you're taking a bath. If the issues with the toilet and bath will be addressed then I am giving it a 5 even if it's a bit far from the city proper. I love their breakfast as well as the friendliness of the staff, I'll surely book again in the near future and will opt for the private room with toilet and bath instead.

We had a great stay at Balai Esperanza! The owner is very kind and helps you in every way possible. 
Please do note that this is a typical backpackers hostel with shared shower and toilet. 
The rooms are equiped with a simpel airco and van. 

Great hostel with kind owner

Great place to stay: room is basic and clean which perfectly suits the price: value for money. The Wifi is superb! (Haven't seen that often in the Philippines). The owner is amazing! He's very friendly and helps you with everything you want. You can rent a good motorbike at Balai Esperanza. Balai Esperanza is located in a 'traditional Philippino area', close to the airport. Definitely recommended!

I was very happy with the stay here.they were so helpful already before I arrived and helped me with all the info. Everything what we agreed, it worked out as promised. The owner and staff were very friendly and happy to help.:) They have two little dogs to play with, if you are a dig lover. The common area is very relaxing and peacful. Would totally come here again :) thank you so much! :)

Peaceful and friendly stay

This place is really budget so we don’t have high expectations. It is situated right in the kampong so it is a good experience for us. Not suitable for people who are fussy about surrounding cleanliness because it is a kampong!

Erven is a great host sharing lots of tips, helping us to book tours in Puerto Princessa and transport to and from El Nido. He specially made pork adobo for us on the last day of checking out because we said we haven’t tried before!

Power trip a few times but I read this is common in Puerto Princessa so we are prepared for that to happen.

We had booked a room with fan (no aircon) unknowingly and luckily Erven allow us to change to a aircon room but we have to use a shared bathroom. Also luckily, there are no other guests so we are the only ones using the shared bathroom. So do check properly what type of room you are booking to avoid surprises.

There is also a cozy corner where you can watch tv, read books and mingle with other guests, very thoughtful of the host.

Overall this is a great place to stay if you want to experience the local culture at a very affordable price!

Really nice and chill place with most amazing and hospitable host ever!! Beach is not for swimming, but nice to see, there are hammocks and a chill-out area and good breakfast. Thanks Ervan for everything!!
