We stayed at the Emerald Playa hotel from Jan. 14-18, 2020. If you want a quiet and relaxing place, this is the hotel for you.  When we arrived at the hotel, our cottage was ready – didn’t have to wait for 12:00NN check in time.   The hotel surrounding is very laid back and relaxing. Beside our cabana is an open “nipa hut” where you can hang out, eat and just relax.  We have a hammock in front of our cabana where you can just lay down and read a book.  The cabana is just a right size – three beds.   Beds were comfortable, we all had good sleep.  The shower room had hot/cold water and they had supply of soap, shampoo, toothpaste and even mosquito off lotion.  There were lots of mosquitoes, so make sure to pack your own Off Lotion. Beach is walking distance, can walk as far as you want during the morning (low tide) and gets better during the afternoon (high tide). The swimming pool area was quite a walk, bridge to get there needs some repair, but pools were well maintained. The restaurant have limited choices of food, but they were really good, especially the “pansit canton” (Cantonese chow mien).  
Just walking distance from the hotel gate is a small family owned convenience store.  We made friends with Cesar, Babylet, Lilibeth and her cute daughter.  In case of any emergency supplies, you can buy from here.  They served coffee, cheaper than the hotel, bread with Babylet’s own recipe of peanut butter– so good.  They also have a tricycle and you can ask Cesar to drive you to the town mall.   We went to the wet market to buy some fresh seafood and asked Babylet to cook for us and shared dinner with their whole family.  
Special thanks to the staff for their excellent customer service - Erla, Gem and Jeff from Reception, Beth for cleaning our room, Lea, Denise and Meagan from the restaurant.  We will definitely recommend this hotel and will come back.

Very Relaxing place by the beach

A true gem in Puerto Princesa. The property is wonderful, with cottages lined up all along. 

1. The cottages are not many but limited. It's not overcrowded in any way while it gave us the peace and serenity that we need.
2. The property is very serene with mangroves as well as a private beach.
3. The restaurant takes great care in customizing the food. We liked the Pancit Canton and Afritada. The mango and banana split is excellent as well.
4. The sunset is a sight to behold while the Sun plays its hues on the shallow waters.
5. Is very vast and has space that emulates a golf course.


A paradise found in palawan

Welcoming place and was able to enjoy beautiful views and a banana smoothie here. Couldn't see any toilets but there was some at the kite surfing place which also has a bar some beautiful wildlife including starfish, crabs and storks

Beach exploring and drink 

We had a perfect stay. The price was super affordable and you get WAAAAY more than what you pay for. They picked us up from the airport, the staff was very accommodating that they even organized our Underground River and island hopping tour, we had delicious breakfasts, they even prepared a bonfire for us on our last night! The location is a bit far from the center of Puerto Princesa, there aren't any tricycles that we can spontaneously hail outside but they organize our transportation with a reasonably cheap price! They have nipa huts, beach volleyball court, mangroves to kayak to, and a mini shore. Definitely worth it, cannot get over our stay!

Highly recommended!

The rooms are simple but comfortable. The staff are wonderful, the pool is great. The location is down a VERY bumpy road, and a tricycle ride from town, but the upside is the peace and quiet.
Only gripe would be that there is nowhere to hang or store clothes in the room, and my wife wanted a mirror in the bathroom, and a power point near the mirror in the room.
If you want a peaceful, relaxing place and don't mind being away from the action in town, it's hard to fault.

Great location, lovely staff

Emerald Playa beach is located a little farther from the center of Puerto Princesa. Taking a motor cycle, you will enjoy the beach in low price of 40 pesos as entrance fee. The beach is from pollution. Mangroves are still around the place. There is a provision for kite boarding too.

Beach lovers

Went on a day tour. Kayaking thru the mangroves was excellent. I'd recommend the kayaking experience to anyone! Better without loud karaoke in the background (if your visit coincides with a team building  session  or company outing), but u can drown it out  with the beautiful site and the effort to paddle. You can only kayak during high tide (10ish to noon so apply lots of sunblock) and it's guided by the lifeguard. If you're confident of your  kayaking skills just  rent the kayak (hourly rate) Definitely one of the highlights of my trip to Puerto princesa

Went there and talked with manager, she gave us a price for the room, upon checking out 3 days later she informed us the rate was much higher. 
Beach is nice to look at but horrible to walk in and very shallow.  
Food Poor and very limited in menu.

Dishonest

Cannot recommend this beach enough. It was stunning and not crowded at all when we were there. It's a shallow bay so would be particularly safe for families with younger kids. It is the Microtel's beach and we were unsure about needing to pay. We ended up not needing to, but even if they did make you it would be worth it. We ate lunch at the restaurant next to Microtel as it was cheaper. The portions weren't huge but tasted good. We literally spent all day here and only left because we needed to not get sunburnt. This was our favorite beach in Palawan! Getting there was simply a matter of telling a trike driver to go to Microtel for around 150p. Getting home was a little more expensive and required asking Microtel to call some trike drivers for us.
