Checked in in room 15. Room was smelly and poor sanitation. Water was leaking under the toilet tank, not sure where it was coming from. I mentioned it to the front desk,as expected, nothing was done. I  could have been moved to another room as the best option...I checked out instead even though I knew I will not get a refund for my 2nd night. Overall, not highly recommended. Microtel in San Fernando is the BEST. I checked in there for 4 days with other friends. 

Bad Experience 

We stayed for two nights in this resort hotel for our class reunion. Since we were 50 plus attendees the hotel rooms were not enough. Some couples were housed in their Mystique Lane - their motel wing. We stayed in one and it was comfortable though it’s two notch lower in terms of cleanliness and amenities. We have to ask for their complimentary water, our refrigerator was out of order, lights bulbs were out and lots of mosquitoes. Breakfast portions were small and we always asked for refills. It’s saving grace is The Forum - it’s convention center. Very new and audiovisual equipment were satisfactory. Their staff were accommodating and helpful.

We got a family room which was very small Especially the bathroom. You will bump your arms while using the toilet bowl. Hot water was non existent. The girl at the front desk claimed that you just have to wait. 4 people have already showered and still no hot water! Our room was in front of the pool so it was a bit noisy. The blankets were like bedsheets, not even a comforter. The worst part? The smoke detector in our room rang 2x! One in the middle of the night and the other early in the morning! In short, we didn’t get a good rest. The pool was good enough. Breakfast had very few choices. The staff at the restaurant though were very nice and accommodating. Our room supposedly came with free tickets to the adjacent resort with wave pool. But since there were not much people in the resort, they did not turn on the wave pool. Definitely not good value for money. Worst hotel I’ve been too, basic hot shower and comforter or hick blankets were not available. 

Not worth staying here 

This is my second stay and I must say that this hotel has been my second home in Pampanga. This comes with a clean room and wonderful staff with a swimming pool and a nice interior of the room near the capitol.

The looks of the villa and the entire place outside is very nice but the inside of the villa that we booked is untidy. It is absolutely not clean inside, toilets are full of hair, and the space is like the lavatory in the plane. The villa inside is full of mosquitoes, ants and some small insects. If your coming to this place you have to request proper duvet because they do not provide it which I think is the not good. We stayed for 2 nights and 3 days and no one even bother to change the towels or call us if we need anything. It is quite expensive and the service is very poor. 

Vacation 

We wanted a hotel near an events venue and this one looked good and offered a well priced room and we were not disappointed.
The whole site is modern, clean and well presented and the staff helpful. The rooms are modern clean and welcoming, we booked the executive room with King Size bed and it was really comfortable. The room had aircon, kettle and microwave, also a well arranged bathroom with a powerful shower.
TRY TO GET A ROOM ON THE UPPER LEVEL AS THE LOWER ROOMS AROUND THE POOL CAN BE A BIT NOISY.

I would rate the hotel and pool, with access to the next door resort included 10/10.        BUT......  for me it was let down by its breakfast arrangements...... this is more like a canteen with limited buffet choice. although the scrambled egg and Tocino were reasonable the rice was hard and the only drinks were iced tea or 3/1 coffee.

For the standard of the hotel this breakfast arrangement needs to improve. With better breakfast this would have rated at least very good but has to remain average.



Great Place to Stay.

Upon entering the Tavern, my family and I were very pleased. For its size, there was adequate parking, a convenience store inside the compound, and a pretty walkway outside with trees and plants and better air. Once inside and speaking to the front desk though, the pleasant feeling started to subside. Of the two staff members to welcome guests, only one was up to the task. While you could easily dismiss this behavior as probably being the result of having a “bad day”, it’s still unacceptable that when you come across this same staff along the hallway the next day, they still don’t smile back at you or even offer a routine hello.

Stayed in the property’s two-floor villa which was said to be good for 4, but based from our experience, it was not. There was technically just one air-conditioned room with a queen bed. The other queen bed was placed in the open, with only a fan for ventilation. We chose to get an extra mattress and sleep in the living room downstairs (which had airconditioning) instead. Despite this, the suite we booked was cozy enough for sleeping, had a decent TV (with a few stored channels), had a microwave and mini fridge, and an electric pot. There was only one toilet&bath which, even for an average-sized Asian like me, was pretty small.

We received complimentary breakfast coupons which we could make use of at one of the restaurants inside the compound. Both the food and the service staff were not admirable. The buffet options were few and the restaurant didn’t carry enough ala carte alternatives. I had hoped the coffee would make up for it, but it was just as sad as the wait staff who cleaned up after the people who barely touched their food left.

All in all, the prettiness of the Tavern from the outside, and even with all its efforts to offer modestly-priced rooms and villas, do not make up for the poor service of most of its staff. If the Tavern wishes to be known as a place of R&R for both locals and expats, it should be a welcome note to its management to hire and educate people who would be able to make this happen and keep the world-renowned promise of Pinoy hospitality.
