Jao Bay Resort was a perfect place to escape from the hectic schedules of everyday life; it is so relaxing and peaceful that you'll surely lose track of time; and for sure you won't want to leave!
The food is absolutely incredible; I long for Windy's amazing dishes; each one prepared with her own unique tweak to perfection; even making something as simple as oatmeal an amazing adventure in taste and texture!
The free use of the banca paddle boats is so much fun, and such great exercise to burn off any extra calories that you'll surely get from devouring all of Windy's delicious cooking. I loved paddling to the small island across the straight; it has a great beach for swimming; and also exploring the river located behind the resort.

Windy has such a great feel for attention to detail, which really shines through with the way she has designed, and decorated the entire resort; from building location to room design, and all of the accessories used throughout, she has created an absolute gem of a resort. 
Last, but not least; Windy and her entire staff are amazing; it truly was my honor to spend time with all of them, and I can't wait to get back in 2020!

Jao Bay Resort was an adventure that we won't ever forget. The voyage to get there was adventurous and the owners are fantastic people. The stay here was fantastic and it offered a family love that you can't buy.

A Unique and Fantastic Getaway

Pure rest and relaxation... away from stress, noise, and fumes i am forced to bath-in everyday in the city.

The people are very thoughtful and warm, yet giving you your own space and privacy. Always keeping your best interest in mind.

Now one of my favourite places to visit to unwind.

We arrived in Tagbilaran about 5 hours late from our scheduled pick-up at the airport, but were immediately greeted and welcomed to Bohol by the driver.  He was so courteous, even after such a long wait and began our 2+ hour ride, offering to stop any time that we wanted or needed.

The ride was comfortable, allowing time for a much needed nap!

Upon arrival at the port in Talibon, the catamaran was there, waiting to take us to Jao Island.  We were offered the opportunity to grab any needed items from the market before boarding the boat for a beautiful 15-20 minute ride to the resort.

Upon arrival at the resort, the staff gathered our luggage and Windy (the owner) greeted us with fresh flower leis from her private garden.

Within just a couple of minutes, we were guided to our waterfront cottage, quickly shown the features and amenities and then left alone (no waiting for a tip like so many other places).  The cottage is small and basic, exactly as you would expect from a beachfront island resort.  TV is not necessary...that's not why you are here!

The owner, Windy, has not forgotten anything that I can imagine.  I have stayed at many Philippine Island resorts and this is probably the best, most thought-out resort I've ever visited.  The restaurant/bar area has a large TV and music if the TV is not on.  The book/magazine selection is quite large.  There is an amazing flower garden, on-the-beach futon sofas, numerous hammocks and outdoor dining furniture that brings back memories of The Flintstones (in a very good way!).  We were really surprised to the attention to detail, but found out that more than three years were taken in the design before opening.

At night, you hear nothing but nature.  It's so quiet...even the water from the bay, yet it's steps away!  And the view is only distant lights and an infrequent boat.

As for food...it was amazing!  Windy cooks or oversees all of the meals and, I must say, she far exceeded our expectations!  I'm a "foodie" and was really impressed by her abilities!

Just a note...the rooms and the resort only have 2-prong outlets, so if you have  a laptop that requires a 3-prong outlet, bring an adapter.  I did not have one with me, and she was nice enough to provide one for me...I forgot to return it, but will get it back to her as soon as I can ship it there.

Again, thank you so much...we cannot wait to visit again!!

We arrived unexpectedly and we have been hosting so quickly. Sheets smelled very good. The owner a wonderful cook. The island a piece of paradise. Good prices, good advices, great smile. Highly recommended. Thanks again

Fantastic

We decided to escape some days Cebu City and went to Jao Island.
There were some nice things we discovered at Jao Bay Resort:
You get free tea, coffee and water all day in the restaurant area.
The shower is despite some other reviews really hot.
The eggplant salad is delicious and a must try.
Prices are quite okay, since everything has to been brought by boat to the resort.
The resort uses WhatsApp with their main number, so you easily can communicate with them even with a foreign phone.

Wendy as host was friendly, but you felt that she already had a long season behind her. There was a backlog in maintenance, but generally everything in still acceptable condition.
The pickup from the peer in Talibon was free, for the transfer back we were charged 300 pesos.

It was not clear to us, if it was just for the upcoming New Year party or a regular installation: we had every night techno music from the nearby village with a disturbing loud bass. Since the island is quite, we heard it relatively loud and also quite late. Maybe someone can write on that in a later review.
Also if Wendy can’t influence that, we thought it is worth mentioning and it was one of the things which prevented us from giving a higher rating, since you go to an island for recreation.

If you travel to Jao Bay Island there are some topics you should consider:
The ferries from Cebu to Talibon and back are cancelled quite often, so you would have to consider other routes to reach Talibon.
There are outrigger ferries to and from Jetafe, travel time about 2 hours to Cebu port for 200 pesos per person . For 160 pesos you can rent a tricycle to Talibon port, which takes around 30-40 minutes . Outrigger ferries are easily cancelled if there is more than light sea.
There are fast ferries to Tubigon, travel time around 90 minutes, 300 pesos per person and 50 pesos for a big luggage. On the first crossing outside the port on the left side are vans to Talibon for 90 pesos per person and if you have a big bag 90 pesos per bag. You arrive after 80-90 minutes at Talibon bus station, where you have to use a tricycle to come to the port. Price 12 pesos per big bag or person. Don’t get overcharged.

Good place to stay for some days

We booked for 4 nights but stayed only one night. This was because of the terrible music of the local fiestas on the island til 02:30 AM! This is something out of control for the hotel/resort. BUT, when we mentioned this to the manager that we didn’t want to stay longer (because there would be a new fiesta that day) she acted very unprofessionally. It was not how you should treat guests with a legitimate complaint. 

Would not recommend to stay here.

And also, the AC is 30 centimetre / 11 inch above the bed which means the AC is unusable because it’s blows right in your face. We got a cold and a sore throat because of this. We came for a nice rest/holiday but it was very, very disappointing.
