I do not want this review to be a reflection on the staff (95% of them).  They do their job as told and seem to be working all the time.  Though upon arrival the front desk girl was a cold fish as she was on the departure.  She is the "tip of the spear" yet gave a bad first impression !   The "first" room we moved into was a great view, yet the door did not LOCK so we had to pack up again and move to a room with a bad view.   
That room did not have a kettle as promised, so they brought up one (it was filthy).
the room was hit or miss on hot water.  early morning NO hot water when showers are needed.  
The room was full of ants. all the time.  no getting rid of them.  
the bathroom had foul smells.  And the toilet is a challenge to flush a deuce.  Beware of that ... and it plugged constantly .  NOT enough water pressure. 
and the worst of it all was the outside NIGHT time hall light, lit up our room at night like it was noon!  I could not get a good night sleep.  I would see that light and wake up.. it was terrible.. I will attach a photo of it.. 
The hotel is located away from "most" of the restaurants and the restaurant on property is a RIPOFF!  the prices are there to gouge the foreigners and local Filipinos seem to bring their own food (smart move).  The food also is not very good at all.  a standard "grilled cheese" is NOT even grilled and just on toast.  so bogus!  the whole place is bogus.    So if you want to go out to eat, you will have to pay a trike driver 100 peso's per 4 people to drive maybe 5 minutes to the town center and beach area for a better variety of restaurants.  
OR you can walk up the road and down some steps to the beach area or continue to the downtown center for the food. its your choice "hoof it" for 20 minutes or take the trike, but it is very hilly there and traffic is fierce on the road.   walking via the beach there is a climbable wall of rocks that you can get across, but not the elderly or very small children it will be difficult.  
To sum it up, the management, owner, owner's group that runs this place, DOES NOT UPKEEP THE PROPERTY or up grade it into the 21st century (I know, typical for third world countries) but this is advertised as a great place,  far from it.   The rooms are shabby and run down, there is no free shuttle outbound to the town, there is a beautiful lobby but every room is damp and dingy!  

I give it a 4 out of 10 stars.  
Good points are the pool and beauty of the water from that vantage point.
If we go back to Puerta Galera we will stay elsewhere.  

Beware of false prophets 

Ok, I have mixed feelings about this place.  It is like a 50-50 feeling of the Good and Bad.  half the property is good, the other bad.  Little maintenance or bringing the property up to date as time goes on.  It is getting a bit run down.  I see the management does not put the money into maintaining a high quality (4500 pesos per night) into their place... though they have new units under construction, and from seeing the pace of the 3 guys building it, it might take 10 years to finish...Front desk girl has a big tude!, as did the dude running the overpriced on premise restaurant.    You can get to white beach by either climbing a hill of dangerous rocks, or walk up the busy road not to get hit by cars, trucks or trikes.  Or take an over priced trike at 100 pesos to white beach, which is only a 1/4 kilometer away.   So best to walk there!  you go up hill slightly on the way there and use the long steps going down to white beach.   Take a trike back.  On white beach is a lot of restaurants, because this hotel was way over priced, average 300 pesos or up for a meal that was not that good.  The first room we had the lock was broke so we had to move.  The new room was Ant infested, and bathroom only had hot water a few hours a day.  Morning no hot water!   The toilets there absolutely  are useless.  If your dropping a deuce, beware!  low pressure.  beds were uncomfortable and the light through my window at night was like it was constantly 2 in the afternoon.  The hall lights shine in near the steps making it impossible to sleep comfortably.  the pool was very nice as was the beach.  too bad there was not a decent hotel on that island.  Mindoro is beautiful.   Other than that , I do not know if I will go back, though there are not that many choices in Mindoro.   They gouge  you in that small town.  I will return to Mindoro

As soon as I step my feet at this resort, my jaw dropped at the beautiful and clean background(scenery) of Taramaw Beach Resort. It's been a while since our family outing, as we spend our trip here, I am very satisfied because I can happily watched the loud laugh of my whole family enjoying every second at this resort. The resort has a deep pool where you can enjoy your swimming day and night. The beach front is very clean where you can stay long and enjoy the big waves. You can also enjoy swimming at the sea, safely. The hotel has many room options. We stayed at the apartment room with 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a living room and a kitchen set. The lobby of this hotel has an amazing ambience which gave an aesthetic look when taking photos. The hotel also has a cafe where you can choose different food at their menu. If would given a chance to come back here, I would love to. I highly recommend this hotel at Puerto Galera. You will enjoy your trip here at a very low price.

Be Awed at the Best Hotel in PG

I stayed a Tamaraw from March 11-13th. They did not have any wi-fi except in front desk area.
The worst customer service..
I rented a scooter March 12-13th at the resort and had to show my drivers licence. It turns out the scooter person still had my drivers licence. I turned the scooter in at about 10 AM and did not leave Puerto Galera until 3 PM and when I was on the boat going back to Batangas I got a text Tamaraw had my licence.
I tried to text, call, email them now for a month and NO...NO ANSWER AT ALL. NONE. 
I booked through Agoda and they are  JUST AS BAD. You CAN NOT contact them either. 
As it is now I have NO replies from Tamaraw or Agoda. This is my drivers licence ...they do not care.
The breakfast is terrible with very limited choice...maybe 6 choices.

They do not return any messages or texts

This is a really good place the rooms are spacious the staff is really attentive. Food is really good especially the  tamaraw rice. The have grill you can use at night if you want to grill frsh fish directly from fishermen passing by. The diving shop is exquisite. Value for money with a really good cause as well. Philippine hospitality at it's best

best place to stay in galera

Many many steps... a constant up and down. Breakfast was included but not easy until you learn the system. We sat and waited for someone to say hello or tell us about breakfast, nope. A neighboring table told us we could go inside to get coffee, we did. Then we waited for the staff and no one came. Now 2 cups down and no help. I finally went to the front desk and asked if we make our own breakfast. I was handed a slip of paper with a few breakfast choices. I tore it up and had breakfast somewhere else. The next day I was prepared. Things went much better. It would be nice for the resort to have someone just say good morning and where the coffee is. I had a few drinks and food at the pool, service is very slow but I am in the Philippines. The staff is lovely and certainly mean well. The beach was lovely and so was the pool. A resort should provide a little bit more service. I gave this resort a good rating but can definitely improve a few things....

Expected a little bit more...

Rooms were more than adequate for my family of 5. Food was priced fairly considering the food options on the not so far "white Beach" area. Air conditioning wasn't a let down and we're sure to come back in the future.

Summer Family Get Away

I went to this resort with my friends just to relax and we are not disappointed. We are greeted warmly and the place is very simple and clean. The food was delicious and the value was excellent compared to other resort. I would like to recommend this resort.

BEACH PLEASE!

Tamara might be a 3 star hotel but the service is 4 star! I promise u the best situated resort on Puerto Galera. Sunsets to die for and a perfect swimming beach. So relaxed and away from the hysterical crowds at white beach (but only 10 minutes by fot if u get the craving.) Staff is the best ever.  Smiling,  and super efficient! And u get a decent breakfast! (which seems to be rare at Puerto Gamers) Well.  Go there!

Super Nice and friendly

Unexpected find walking along the beach. The food is great, plentiful and good value. As a party of 7 it’s not always easy to find something that everyone likes but this restaurant was so good that we returned twice! Menu is quite extensive and suits all tastes - meat, fish or vegetarian.
