Sogod Bay Scuba Resort is a cosy little place with the kindest staff.

The helped us arrange trips and we were originally only going to do some snorkeling.

However after our first trip, the other residents at the resort convinced us to go for a scuba dive.

We were beyond grateful that we did! 

We went with our instructor Pedro* and he showed us a world of un imaginable beauty on 4 peaceful dives over 2 days around Sogod Bay. The life and colors were fantastic.

We went on a trial dive but everything was controlled, professional and very very serene and beautiful.

*our dive instructor Pedro is a peaceful soul and very nice and extremely skilled diver. However! We believe that all the divers at Sogod Bay Scuba Resort at equally professional and good at what they do! So whoever you get as your instructor, we are certain you are gonna have a great experience. Though we also really loved our dives with Pedro.

Beside the dives! The rooms were nice and food was good at the resort. Staff is friendly and helpful!

3 days of magic in the waters of Sogod Bay!

6th stay at Sogod Bay Scuba Resort and I still love it just as much.
The welcome is wonderful and you feel like you staying with friends.
Several types of accommodation (all very comfortable and very clean) are offered at very attractive prices.
The food offered at their own restaurant is excellent with good portions and a large choice of dishes.
About diving, I have never been disappointed.
Everything is well organize at Sogod Bay Scuba Resort.
Bay of Sogod offers beautiful dives that can satisfy all types of divers.
Several very good Muck dive sites and many incredible wall/drop-off rich in fauna and flora.
SBSR is one of my favorite place in the Philippines and that's the reason why I'm coming back every year.

Best dive Resort on Southern Leyte

I am an underwater photographer and visited Sogod Bay Scuba Resort again in January. I have dived at many places around the World and Sogod Bay Scuba Resort is my favorite place to come back to. The diving there is fantastic and varied: some of the best wall/reef diving anywhere plus lots of macro/muck subjects. Also lots of turtles, whalesharks and we often get to see dolphins while crossing the bay. As good as the diving is, the people are what really makes the place special for me. The staff at Sogod Bay Scuba resort are friendly, warm, hard-working and fun loving!  The resort itself is just steps from the water with clean comfortable rooms and fantastic views. The restaurant is also fantastic with a large menu and reasonable prices. It takes some travel to get there, but it is well worth it as the diving is not crowded and the locale not over-tourist-ed. I look forward to visiting there again soon!

My favorite dive resort anywhere!

We just returned from a 4-day stay at the Sogod Bay Scuba Resort and are sad we had to leave so soon...we enjoyed every moment! Every single member of the staff is incredibly friendly, welcoming and kind - they immediately make you feel at home. We stayed in the Deluxe Oceanfront Room, which is very spacious and comfortable - and only two steps from the beautiful beach. The room and facilities are kept very clean, the restaurant was delicious and - again - we just felt very comfortable and happy all around.

The diving itself was spectacular. We took the larger boat for all of our trips, which was the perfect size and very comfortable. The boat crew and dive masters are super friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Our dive master Greg went out of his way to find and show us even the smallest sea creature (all of which we would have certainly missed without him), while at the same time leaving us space and time to explore by ourselves. Every dive spot was amazing. We even saw dolphins on our way there! Overall, this was some of the most relaxing diving we have ever done - nothing was rushed and we were always taken great care of. 

The resort takes some time to get to from Tacloban, but it is well worth the trip. The next time, we will absolutely stay longer!

Beautiful and peaceful, with fantastic diving!

Sogod Bay on the island of Leyte is located off the main tourist routes, requiring a bit more travel planning. The advice from Annalyn, the reservation officer at Sogod Bay Scuba Resort, was very helpful.

The hospitality of the Filipinos was remarkable at the resort, on the boats, and in the nearby village of Padre Burgos. The dive bangka crew made our dive trips comfortable and safe throughout the stay. The essential Nitrox checks were carried out meticulously under the supervision of the divers.
 
Sogod Bay offers several splendid dive sites with healthy corals and muck sites inhabited by intriguing critters. And with the top-notch spotters Dave and Pedro we had the chance to see and photograph an astounding variety of underwater life.

The Internet connection worked well. We liked the servings of the kitchen. The housekeeping was taken nicely care. I recommend to check the ways to pay the bill well before leaving the resort, since the money transfers from abroad may be complicated.

The absence of cats and Russian Putinists at the resort was an extra plus.

Whale sharks are treated better here than, for example, around Cebu, where they are fed by people. Therefore, we recommend our fellow travellers to go for whale shark trips here. The villagers on the opposite side of Sogod Bay guided us to encounter these magnificent animals.

In the end, I am not surprised that many people choose to return here again and again. So did I.

A place where I returned to

The resort is not the easiest place to access - ferry from either Bohol or Cebu or flight from Manila with 4 hour road transfer - but the visit is well worth the effort, with excellent and varied diving and a comfortable resort, with friendly and efficient staff, awaiting you.

For diving, there is a purpose built diving banqa that accesses dive sites on both sides of Sogod Bay and Limisawa Island and reveals a varied array of wildlife from pygmy seahorses to whale sharks on muck and reef dive sites and, if it’s there to be seen, the excellent local dive guides will find it for you. I take my own gear with me but the resort hire equipment is first class and all levels of (PADI) instruction are available from the resident instructor, Pedro.

The accommodation is comfortable, with some being immediately shoreside and other rooms set back from the beach and the restaurant serves up a varied local and western menu, with daily specials available.

I am a BSAC Advanced Diver/Advanced Instructor, with ca 2,700 dives and have visited Sogod Bay Scuba Resort about 8 times and, like General MacArthur, I shall return - it’s just so good, with a high proportion of the clientele being “returns”.

The attention to detail from the team at Sogod was amazing. It was definitely one of the most relaxing and well run dive holidays I've been on in recent years. I'll definitely be making plans to come back soon!

Awesome diving

I absolutely loved my time at Sogod Bay. Diving and dogs in a tropical paradise, what more could you want. 

I'll split the review into two parts, diving and resort. 

Diving - Sogod Bay is honestly one of the most beautiful places I've been lucky to dive in. Granted my experience is not huge (3 trips overseas and have the advantage of being on the East Coast of Australia) but still it is stunning. Limisawa Island is a must if you get the chance. Clear beautiful water, healthy coral and lots of critters and life. We manage to get to Little Lembeh which is a Muck Site and can be a hit and miss with conditions and diving but if you can get there it is amazing. I would argue it was better than Dauin and Dumaguete but I'll let you make that judgement ;) 

Resort - I really enjoyed the resort but just be prepared that when we are all saying it is beautiful it is because it is a simpler life at the resort. It's an opportunity to unwind and relax in a quiet and chilled place. The food is amazing, service is great and the vibe is homely. The rooms have everything you will need but water pressure can sometimes be an issue. IF there are any dramas ask and they will do whatever they can to help. 

I really enjoyed my time with these guys. Can't recommend them enough. 

Amazing Relaxing place to Unwind and Dive

Sogod Bay Scuba resort is one of the best run Dive Resort we have been too with excellent customer service in all areas. The resort provides a variety of diving including: Walls, Reefs, Drift, Muck diving and Whale Shark trips when in season.  The small resort has two instructors and with excellent safe Dive operations, detailed briefings and Nitrox  for every dive.   The dive guides were excellent pointing out rare fish and critters.  The resort owners are on-site and often diving with you.  Snacks and drinks were provided between all dives.  

We were most impressed with the restaurant and the new chef that has been on staff for less than a year.  The full-service restaurant features fresh cooked dinner and lunch specials and dessert.  Over 70% of the guests are repeat customers who will be delighted with the new chef.  

A few more places to hang towels, swim suits etc…. would be appreciated.  The in-room TV did not seem to be working the week we were there.  Good Wi-Fi connections and reservations were easy to make with prompt responses for all questions and inquiries. Most of the staff have been at the resort for years. 

Sogod Bay Scuba Resort March 2023 - Excellent Service

Quite possibly one of the most beautiful places on earth, coupled with an excellent restaurant, a gorgeous hotel, clean room with all the amenities and friendly and attentive staff. The service is top tier, the view of the ocean, and the mountains on the other side is breathtaking. If you are thinking of coming to see for yourself, I highly recommend it.
